The Community “Moderators” are out of control. I get the feeling 90% of the Forum Community has either been “warned” by a Mod or straight-up banned. For what? Oh, because a Mod decided your post wasn’t quite up to par with what they would want to see posted, not what was actually posted.
Let’s make it easy for the Mods: we’ll just send them private messages, which they can then read, and they’ll decide which posts can be made public. Wouldn’t that just cut-out the middle man all-together and make things easier for them? Wouldn’t that just make it easy to control every little post that comes through?
No wonder the Forum Community is next to non-existent. The only people left are those that deal with getting spammed by a Mod or have just shown-up for the first time.
Get real, 343. Let your Community have a little fun and encourage participation. I have never, never, been to a Forum that has Mods as uptight as yours. It’s extremely unbecoming.
I once saw a snail in the street in the middle of summer, I felt so bad that I moved him into a shaded area where I dumped some water to cool him down because it was a pretty hot day. My dog then ran by and squished it. This is my story.
Not only is my story boring as -Yoink-, but it serves no real purpose, accomplished nothing, and had no reason to be posted. I would like to categorize your thread with my story. At least my story wasn’t written by a delusional nerd who doesn’t know what he’s talking about though so that’s something to push me through the day.
I like to say that my post let me have a little fun and encouraged participation in your thread, but I expect it to be modded because it should be, just like yours. Good Day.

Before I shut this down for discussing moderation, could you explain what you mean by, “harassing community members” please? I’d like to know where there’s room for improvement.

It’s like when a cop pulls you over for going 20 miles over the speed limit.

Wait, you’re going to “shut down” my thread because I’m “discussing moderation”? Wow… This is EXACTLY what I’m talking about. We can’t even DISCUSS how our own Moderators manage the community. Don’t you see the problem here?
Yes, I’ll explain what I mean by “harassing community members”. This thread is a perfect example. Not one hour after I created this thread you have made it a point to not only threaten to shut the thread down, but will most likely send me another “warning” for creating said thread, as well. If anyone BUT a Moderator did something even remotely close to this, they would be banned–no questions asked.
See my point? I suppose that is irrelevant, though… This thread will be shutdown by you–based on some subjective notion of what “appropriate” and “constructive” posts actually consist of–and nothing will be solved. The Forum Community will limp on, reading the same tired posts over… and over… and over again.

No, it’s like when you get pulled over, the Cop asks you why you were speeding, you tell them because you were in a hurry, and they give you a ticket for “talking back” in addition to a speeding ticket.

The sweet irony here… You’ve just trolled my post, pretending you’d like to see moderators “do their job,” yet will cry foul if you get a warning message from the mods.
Get real. You know you had fun making that post and had fun participating in this thread–yet want to be totally banned from doing so? Uh-huh…
If you had to do the mods job this is what would happen:
You’d be excited to have a wonderful full time job with no pay and at best minimal benefits.
You’d constantly take crap from whiny, entitled members reporting and complaining every time you do said job.
You’d probably probably lose your marbles within a few weeks.
Upon losing said marbles, you’d probably cry in your room in the fetal position, or burn the servers to the ground.
Only then you’d realize everyone decided to go on Twitter and ruin your life there instead.
If you don’t like the rules, moderation or community here then go make your own Halo forum with your own rules. I’ve been reported, warned and banned more times than I can count. But I -Yoinking!- deserved 99% of what I got and so does everyone else.
BUT WAIT.
There’s good news! You can simply file a report that you can find right here and help your moderators change this place for the better!

I’m not “threatening” anything. And if I wanted to warn/edit/ban/whatever you, I would have done so at the outset rather than trying to understand your point. But instead of trying to have a discussion, you’re making wild accusations and being overly argumentative.
This is exactly why we don’t allow discussion of moderation in public because it doesn’t accomplish anything. Our inboxes are always open, many members can attest to that. If you are rational and polite, we will entertain a discussion. But when the ‘conversation’ boils down to, “I don’t like that I got moderated for posting nonconstructive spam so you guys are all jerks!” then there’s nothing to discuss because you have it in your mind that we’re all out to get you. We really aren’t.
You can disagree with the rules, that’s fine. But they are there for a reason. If you want to discuss them further, I suggest you do so via PM.

The forum rules, which we’ve directed you to before, state that moderation actions are to be discussed in private messages. This rule exists for a few reasons: to prevent disruption and the derailment of threads; and to preempt situations where the only way to defend ourselves from false accusations is by publishing the moderation histories of the people making them (i.e. “naming and shaming” them, which we generally want to avoid). Snickerdoodle wasn’t harassing or threatening you by stating her intention to enforce that rule; if anything, she was trying to meet you half-way by letting you say your piece before the thread gets closed. I would’ve just locked this thread on sight, banned you per the ban ladder, and waited for you to send me a private message so that we could try to discuss things there.
