I have been an avid Halo player majority of my life and they were without doubt were my favorite video games in general. While the story never really engaged me until I was older and better able to comprehend it, most of my love for the game stemmed from the just absolutely flawless, meticulously compromised multiplayer. I remember spending hours just playing Headlong split-screen with my little brother, getting Xbox live for the first time and H3 (I still remember my first online match; Team Slayer on Snowbound) and I even got into competitive scene. From playing in online brackets to seeing the Classic vs. Final Boss game in Orlando(-Yoinking!- Epic might I add). I have nothing but fond memories. No other game felt like Halo did. It was so unique and so well balanced and put together, almost nothing rivaled it. Halo Reach really caught me off guard but I still somewhat enjoyed it, just didn’t feel the same. However, I just thought it was another spin-off like title similar to ODST and assumed Halo would get back on track with it’s fantastic gameplay and flow. When I heard about Bungie’s departure from Microsoft I didn’t think much of it. I had read some of the original squad was returning to Halo and a new company was being assembled (343) so even though I had my doubts, there was faith. Soon-after, Halo 4 came to be. I guess you could say I went on a gaming hiatus (school) after Reach so I didn’t know much of anything about Halo 4. I just went and blindly bought it at Gamestop like an idiot. I was dumbfounded and just absolutely awestruck. I remember the opening mission, seemed neat and everything until I actually stepped out of the tube and got to play. As soon as I accidentally made Chief sprint while trying to cycle grenades I paused and pressed it again to confirm I wasn’t insane. Yep, there was sprint… At first I rolled with it and just ignored it for the most part and continued with the campaign. More and more as I progressed through I was realizing this just didn’t feel right… I enjoyed the story line but the gameplay felt… off? I wasn’t smacked in the face with the reality of the situation until I played mutiplayer. What in the actual -Yoink- did they think they were doing? Sprint. DMR (among the many other atrociously unbalanced weapons). Killstreaks. Loadouts. SR ranks? -Yoinking!- Armor abilities… I shouldn’t have to explain anything here, they destroyed the multiplayer. I completed the campaign and sold it back to Gamestop (should have done it sooner for a full refund ;-D), which was a smart move as it was a ghost town six moths later. I played Halo 3 up until we started hearing about MCC. The amount of hype I had for that game when it was announced was comparable to that of Halo 3’s release, just absolutely nuts. Time went by and I pre-ordered MCC, scheduling a couple days of vacation off work as well as making sure I had no plans in order to no-life all the campaigns and play customs again with all my buddies. Now, everyone who bought that game at release knows what happened next. I returned home to a 2 or 3 hour installation, which I patiently waited for. Who am I kidding, patient my -Yoink-. I was bouncing off the walls while I waited for this thing to download. First thing I did was launch multiplayer and search. After hours of frustrating searches and talking to other people, we started to piece it together. It was broken. 343 had knowingly packaged and mass shipped a broken game to MILLIONS. Although it has come a long way, and taken way too much time to do so I might add, the game is still broken and still plagued with problems. After being handed a Call of Duty knock off, lied to, and essentially swindled out of $60 by 343 I can’t even imagine anyone would support this company. Your “Halo 5: Guardians” or whatever you want to call it is not Halo. You can’t insert Halo’s story into a COD skin and pass it off as innovative. Not that I expected much different but the beta felt nothing at all like Halo and was just awful. They have completely done away with the skill gap and the genuine arena gameplay. Wonder why majority of it’s advertising is story related? “Oh but the ‘pros’ are backing H5 and its AR starts and other ridiculous nonsense” well if I got paid to play a game professionally and was surrounded by its developers I think I’d have nice things to say too. Halo doesn’t feel the same to me anymore and just don’t enjoy it. That being said I have ceased supporting its direction and won’t be purchasing or playing any more of its products. (Aside from the original trilogy which I will continue to play until MCC’s servers are shutdown). Now these are my opinions and I expect majority of you on here to disagree but dude, it’s just not Halo anymore.
I wish I had the patience to read this
Big wall of text. Bland claims of copy/pasting CoD mechanics.
Skip.
Let me just say it’s posts like this that make Halo critics look bad. You could have at least used spaces, dawg.
Is this copypasta?
All I saw was 343 broke MCC… Again if you wanna complain about it go to Saber and Certian Affinity forums and complain. I wish we had signatures that would be it… Reported Spam
Basically another “I don’t want change” post.
Yes…
That needs to be a meme used for all Halo critics who claim that Halo is copying other franchises.
“copypasta.”
I read it, and have to disagree with about half of it.
Won’t get into much because I spent too much time reading lol.
But Halo 5, looks great to me and cannot wait to play it.
Looks nothing like CoD to me. Played the BO3 beta and it was horrible. Halo 5 Beta was amazing.
Paragraphs please, if you have the time to write such a long post at least make it readable.
Has he ever taken an English class let alone done an essay?
TL;DR
yawn, obviously you haven’t paid attention lately, because 343 removed literally everything you just complained about (except sprint, which is here to stay). killstreaks, loadouts, SR ranks, armor abilities, all removed. Weapons balanced. But keep whining if you must.
This is more suitable for a blog or something.
