I dont normally post here but the lack of communication from 343 is unacceptable. I was excited to see the new Mister Chief REQ trailer today, in order to get some more info on the status of Halo 5 but ended up feeling even more uninformed. To start, the REQ system leaves a bad mark to the Halo brand, reminiscent of many new games following in the microtransaction path. But I digress because the microtransactions have no effect on the core gametypes/campaign. Then you have the aftermath of the Master Chief Collection’s failure(which is now sweeped under the rug), the controversial removal of split screen/LAN and the poor communication on how owners of the Limited Collector’s Edition can redeem their physical copy. The game is out in a MONTH. And I have seen one article pop up on my news feed this month, talking about the 60fps “feature” like that is something new. The last update on Halo Channel was almost 2 months…two months ago[REDACTED]. The #HuntTheTruth ARG is incredibly lackluster(podcasts really…really) and I have heard not a single word about the backwards compatibility of the original Halo titles which is expected to start rolling out officially in November(I am already in the preview build). This is completely unacceptable for such a massive first party title and I am embarrassed to see Destiny growing into such a vibrant and expanding community, while Halo withers away. I didnt even know Halo 2 MLG players tested out the Razer Wildcat, until I looked on Razer’s product page. I shouldnt have to look on the manufacturers page to know the Halo community tested out their product for us. In closing I have heard more about Halo 5 from the media, than from 343. Are you guys coming to NY Comic Con again? Are you planning on showing more new gametypes? Are you gonna talk about the upcoming MTN Dew game fuel promotions? Are you going to describe competitive skill ranks more clearly? You have a month. There are a lot of unanswered questions and not a lot of time to reassure the community. Please close Halo 6 out right next time around, because you guys have been failing at making the Halo brand a “console seller” so far.

Are you serious? Hunt the truth is a story told in the former of audio drama. It’s awesome and most lore fans consider it one of the greatest additions to the halo franchise.
What on the Halo channel was last updated 2 months ago? The Bulletin on there is a week old at most. Just because you don’t like the REQ system, doesn’t change the fact 343i have released a video and Josh Holmes has written an article detailing what the REQ system is and how it works. There are also articles regarding the collectors edition and trading the digital for the physical copy along with many informing articles.
HuntTheTruth is an ARG so doesn’t really come under the “information about Halo 5” bracket (not to mention it’s frickin awesome) and neither does the backwards compatibility since that covers multiple games of which Halo is just one and so 343i aren’t totally responsible (if at all) regarding announcements about that. The only information that doesn’t seem to have been released regarding features is Forge and Theater.
As you said, there’s still a month to go, plenty of time to talk about things. But overall 343i have been open with their communication, they have nothing to step up.
I could not disagree more. 343 has done an amazing job promoting this game and letting us know whats in, how things work and why things are happening. The Razor Wildcat really has nothing to do with 343. They have lots of time to tell you about a pop promotion, again something not really on 343. If they haven’t said they are going to NY Comic Con at this point would it not be safe top assume they aren’t? Also is them being there really gonna sell the game more at this point? Your post is kind of salty and im not really sure the reason as you have not provided any examples of 343 not communicating.

Thats my point though, it WILL help sell the game by showing it off at any given opportunity. Starcraft 2 and MLG hold a tournament at NY Comic Con every year. So why is it that the Halo brand has been smeared off the MLG roster since Halo 3? I can understand the Game Fuel and Razer Wildcat argument. Completely understandable that 343 cant be on top of every promotion/endorsement their IP has. As for the bulletin, apparently my Halo Channel is stuck on Episode 19 for some reason. I’ll have to reinstall to see if that fixes it, because I am seeing more episodes in the blog now. I still believe the Halo 5 physical disc exchange has been poorly discussed as it has not been explained how we can obtain the disc and Gamestop has denounced that they will have a part in it(meaning it will most likely be through microsoft). The backwards compatibility of previous titles is just as important to me, as the regular game releases, but agreed that it is not relevant to Halo 5. I loved the beta and took part in the Halo Survey Program I felt the communication was heavy at that period and that there is a lot of ground to cover still. All I am saying is Halo 5 should be eclipsing Destiny:Taken King in the news right now and compared to that I have heard nothing.
Yeah, two seasons of the sprint, vidocs, countless tweets, weekly bulletins and interacting with fans on various forums is more than enough, buddy. Especially considering that they don’t have to communicate with us at all (a la Bethesda).
Spoiled.

**I agree with you Pope 138 and im not directing this towards you. =]**They have been way more vocal through the whole process of making halo 4. During halo 4 they had high eggos, blamed fans and didnt talk much.
At least this time around they apologised for their mistakes, talk to us on social media (twitter) and also have been showing us quite a big of info. I just want them to show more multiplayer stuff before launch but the game is coming out so soon that i would expect stuff to start showing up soon. I mean we have a month to learn more about reqs, forge, multiplayer and new stuff added that we dont know.
It will be ok and OP you will live.

Say what you will about 343i, their marketing team is top notch. Their push to sweep the MCC under the rug, hide the Codification of Halo, and their misdirection with split-screen was all A-class marketing (and no, I’m not being sarcastic; the marketing teams job is to spin news and generate hype, and on that front they have done an excellent job).
It seems you only watched the req trailer and did not read the long informative req dev blog by josh holmes
Entitled, much?
OP clearly has no concept of how much game developers usually communicate with their fanbase. 343 communicates with us way more than any other developer communicates with their fans. Count your lucky stars you aren’t on Bethesda forums expecting them to constantly communicate with you and keep you up to date.
Be thankful that 343 shares as much information and considers as much feedback as what they do, because they don’t have to do any of that.
OP, since others have explained or refuted most of your other points, unfortunately Halo won’t be having Mountain Dew/Doritos promotions in the US. Only in Mexico…Blops3 took the US promotion for us most likely… other then that most of the other points are a misunderstanding and/or completely out of 343’s control in regards to the Halo IP and what Microsoft chooses to do with it. I do agree in wanting to know an answer in regards to the LCE game and for those who purchased it like myself and getting a physical disc as well, but I’m not going to fret over it.
I also wouldn’t be too worried about Destiny and its DLC for now, being there is nothing else Gamestop wants to put up in their shops right now or to compete against it, next 2 months will be completely different.
You can’t expect to see the whole game a month before launch. I don’t think any other major franchise does such a thing.
If you’re hungry for more news, keep an eye on Ready Up Live over the next few days. Dan and the team have a lot of stuff they’re going to be sharing in the next few days

This is precisely my argument. I dont need to see a picture of the new multiplayer maps or an update on Spartan Locke’s cod piece. While some people may find those fascinating, im more concerned about the core gameplay/UI/progression systems. So for example (so you guys know where I am coming from here) before MCC collection came out I believe most of us had the idea that the 4 games would all have individual playlists. But upon launch they were all mashed together, making the community split rather than being composed into groups. That little detail is one of the main contributions to its death. I almost cry every time I see how little people are on. This thread isnt about the REQ system, I probably wont even use my cards tbh. Its more about the overall end product. The one a lot of us are spending $250-$750 on depending. All I want is Guardians to surpass Halo 4’s length of reign and I know it can in this age of Twitch/Game DVR. I dont think thats asking for much.

Looks like maybe I blew the lid a little early. Ill be getting that UI request that I listed above fulfilled, as well as quite a few other important tid bits thanks to Mr. Greenskull. Thanks for the heads up!

343i Has held a few Halo 5 tournaments, the largest being the Gamescon Invitational which can be found here:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1IJ_hNs_5-uQYnu84e844Q
Halo was partnered with MLG all the way up to Halo 4. Again videos of these tournaments can be found online.
Also in regards to Halo and MLG. This is probably due in part to some sort of contract or business strategy MLG has. I’m not sure if there is any one reason why MLG is not partnered with Halo anymore. 343i now has HCS which in my opinion is better then MLG not to mention HCS is owned by 343i.
343 has actually been very good at explaining stuff and the release of information is also pretty good. You are basically wanting them to spoil everything for you. If you have questions you can pretty much just google it and find an answer some where and not just the waypoint forums.
