Like seriously? You say you want to have more classic roots and take out 2 of the most iconic weapons? Put them back in!!! This is nonsense!!
Agreed. I saw alot of posts regarding this.
(I even made 1 myself) so they cant act like they dont know.

Agreed. Bring back the classic designs. 343 is 3 steps forward, 4 steps backwards. You say “spiritual reboot” to reel in the classic fans, but then you remove beloved classic designs? That’s just like a politician saying he cares about black people, but then gets elected and doesn’t do jack -yoink!- for them. Distasteful.
Yes! Add more guns, that’s amazing, but don’t take out the old ones in their place. It’s like they somehow forgot the Halo 5 rocket fiasco 5 years ago.

Exactly!!!
We need them guns back its like if they took out the battle rifle or the assault rifle or both at the same its disgrateful to the journey of halo they need to comeback either as unlockables or REAL weapons its halo 5 all over again but worse
I’ve sat on this for awhile, and the more I think about it, the less I care that they are not in it. Great if they are brought later and I do wish for a more impactful shotgun then the bulldog, but every halo removed/changed guns. Infinite is no different

here is the thing though, the rocket from H5 was functionally the same as the spanker rocket. The sidekick and bulldog are not functionally the same as past magnums or shotguns, at least from what we can see. As of now, it appears both the bulldog and sidekick are weaker than their past counterparts. To me, the bulldog is a slightly better mauler and the sidekick is closer to its H2 counterpart. This means they are not just a model swap like the rocket was in h5 (honestly same for the shotgun in h5)
I do like the function of the new sidearm and bulldog. I think the increased range fo the shotty is good, and the pistol taking more of a sidearm role, making way for the BR to return as the precision weapon. However, it’d be nice to have the magnum come back at least, and the classic designs were, aesthetically-speaking, cooler and much more unique to Halo.
Each Halo game has a different weapon sandbox. Weapons have been added and taken away. Some have been buffed and others nerfed. When they have the inevitable balance update(s) it will all change again. Things can change, even from a demo to the release. And if Infinite really is a 10 year project - there will be some major upheavals along the way.
It’s tough if one of your favourites bites the dust… but I’m sure you’ll find a new one…
The trick is to not get too attached…

All we have gotten was 8 mins of gameplay… you can’t possibly know for sure that these are not in the game yet. These could just be additions to the game, not replacements.

So accurate. I agree. You’re a baby.
343 doesn’t “have to” do anything. It’s their game. Players who want Halo games will play it and love it. Don’t love it? THEN DON’T PLAY IT. Stop complaining.

Your first game must of been Reach?
I think the general consensus is that 343 will put the original Pistol/Magnum and Shotgun in. That is why they said the original forms are not in “yet.” That said, we need to request the original forms vehemently if we truly want them because some things once they are gone are gone for good.
It sounds like they’ll be added in later. They want this game to last 10 years, I’m sure we’re going to get PLENTY of gun additions.
The new magnum just looks like a modern Sig. I like the direction they’re going with it in terms of the Halo 2 magnum vibes, but it’s got to be an M6 or it’s just not Halo. Semi-automatic pistols have little room for unique visual identity and the M6 managed to make its own. Don’t throw that away.
The new shotgun is straight up dumb. It behaves almost identically to the past 4 shotguns but somehow it’s like twice as bulky (even though it’s apparently 12 gauge now?) and has a drum/cylinder that doesn’t even hold more ammo. What’s the point of a pump-action shotgun with a cylinder if it’s only 6 rounds? The real life Striker shotgun holds 12 rounds, and the DP-12 which is of similar size and silhouette has dual tubes of 7. Nothing about it makes sense, from the fluff to the real life reasons for the change.

The pistol I agree, but every Halo had a pump-gun variant so far. Sure, design and stats changed, but it was always the equivalent weapon. Now the game is missing a role and got replaced with a much more boring variant. And yes, they will ad the classic later. We all know that’s the plan and the reason why they’re doing it in first place. We are not stupid MS/343i! However I doubt we’ll ever see them in campaign without mods. It’s the SPNKR all over again and it’s a huge mistake imho.
Also I’m afraid the Commando will replace the DMR as well btw. Hi seems to have way too many automatic and spread weapons so far. Seems like the worst human weapon sandbox I’ve seen so far. I’m happy about changing things around, but not at the price of redundancy and less skill based counter-parts like an automatic shotty or DMR!
Considering the game will be taking a more open world approach, then yes the arsenal should be larger. Having multiple variants of several weapon classes like ARs, SMGs, pistols, shotguns, etc wouldn’t be out of place for a large scale game.

That’s exactly what I was expecting. You could say I was a bit surprised when they just yeeted the old designs away in favor of these new ones. I’m all for new weapons, but in a game that’s supposed to be as big as this one supposedly, why make the sandbox smaller?
The magnum has changed in literally every game its been in, out of curiosity which one is the “classic” magnum? The damage it does, it’s fire rate, even its design has changed in just about every game. This isn’t the same as the rocket launcher change in halo 5, because the rocket launcher had a consistent look and performance for every single halo game before 5. The magnum and the shotgun have not had that. They’ve both had significant changes to their look and functionality over time.
I ain’t saying this to start an argument or be rude, but I really do want to know which version is the “classic” version of these weapons that should be brought back?
