Hi everyone,
i want to bring up attention for a very limiting problem that is afflicting many of us outside US (but also someone there): inability to find matches due to “lack of players in playlists”.
We all know that this is almost impossible, halo 5 is a 6 months game and is pretty healty at the moment.
So what could be the problem?
After readind so many topics that i cannot count them anymore the answer to this question is dual:

CSR rank
there are some flaws in matchmakin due to CSR: the higher your rank is, the lesser you wil find suitable games; - Region lock
in addition to the first problem, since early February we have this brand new issue, originating by a server setting decision made by 343i and applied in many countries outside US: force matchmaking to find games only regionally, without enlarge its range neither if there aren’t available players near you (for any reason, one on all, you are playing while everyone in your zone is asleep etc).
It’s plenty of people out there (i am one of them) that cannot play at all because they like less populated playlists, or they have very high CSR or they live in a country where Halo is not as much appreciated as in US or, maybe, they can play only on late night because of their work. Or, maybe, all those things combined.
Halo, for the community outside US, is really going nowhere at the moment and this will bring to serious problems and population drop. The risk is to lose progressively every player outside United States.
We desperately need a smarter matchmaking system: a system that privileges best connection matches, off course, but also widen its search range when nearer players, for any reason, aren’t available.

I’ve given up caring, because the only one getting upset about it is me. 343 have (a lot of) my money. They’re too busy laughing all the way to the bank.
The way I see it is I have a choice -
- persist and get stressed and upset or, - write it off as a bad joke, learn a lesson and move onto a game that does work (which is most of them)

343 Don’t care that you’re pissed off. I’ve moved on, learning a very expensive lesson on the way. Right now, Halo has been removed from my system and I’m looking forward to Quantum Break. In the meantime - I’ll spend time with my family and catchup on some movies.

I know, i know.
I’m not certainly the one who spends his entire day complaining about a game.
I have a job, responsabilities etc. But i also love this game and this franchise, and it makes me sick seeing that for some wrong decisions it is turning into an unplaylable piece of crap…
You can make a mistake in tuning a weapon, a movement etc. but you cannot limit matchmaking search in 2016 where all the other games make you able to search worldwide.
Who defend region lock (and unfortunately it’s plenty of people that think about that) probably doesn’t even know what is talking about…
I guess the difference is that for me - it ALWAYS has been an unplayable piece of crap.
This company seem to has their priorities -Yoink- about - giving priority to what pretty colors they can make your playable character instead of, can people actually play this playable character.
I love Halo too - but it’s just a game, they took my money under false pretences, which is a crime in my country. But as others have said, it falls on deaf ears and YES, they don’t care. The MCC should have rung huge alarm bells, but we once again gave them our trust.
I sleep at night, but they have to live with themselves. I wish them luck with this.

I still have a little bit of faith. I’m not done yet.
But i really hope that at least they will give us some answers about this.
But what has one to do to receive support on your support forum??!!
343 can you at least give us an answer? Are you aware of the issue? Are you solving it or at least have planned to do it in near future?

Well one fix I’m trying now is changing my Xbox location to the US, going to check if I can get into a match now.
EDIT: Hasn’t made a difference…
Not hard to believe, you are identified on the network through your IP address (so your region is taken from there)
Glad to see that the support forum is very “supported”
