Ok I’m gonna make this as short and straight shooting as possible.
We have a new update with only new stuff coming to the Exchange and we have to wait a WEEK for any of that new stuff to come in. Nope. 343 You need to axe the rotationary Exchange and replace it with essentially every thing available in the Exchange all at once and keep it that way. This way we can avoid upset players being unable to unlock any new gear for an entire week after a new update drops.
Yeah. I’m genuinely baffled why they didn’t just put everything in a new “series”. It’ll be annoying to try and unlock everything, especially if I miss a week or don’t have enough points/time to get points in a given week.
Surely there would have been enough to create a 50 tier “Series” that proceeds after the “Series” 8: Mythic, maybe even 100 tiers. It certainly would have been a lot better if everything cost 1 SP.
I’m still thinking that 343 is going to try to force purchasable spartan points into the game. These don’t have to be expensive, 343 is just making an active decision to make them expensive, to force players into thinking they have to buy those points with real-world money.
what the really need to do is make the exchange an ACTUAL catalog. everything that’s not apart of a series should be placed in the catalog for people to spend points on. the rotation aspect of the exchange just doesn’t work
It’s also important to note that this inflates the pricing of customisation brought with this update;
Previous Season Passes would have each part available for 1 point per piece (or even for multiple unlocks in a tier).
With this new “series” system, each piece will cost at least 2 points (which has a knock-on effect of devaluing Spartan Points as one has to pay at least double the value of a previous “Season” tier).
In the interim, you’re still limited to only earning 12 points max per week and if you play either PvE or PVP only then you could be locked out of certain rewards (each has only 6 points available each week).
Tactical Challenges have high requirements for little reward; 2 points per challenge. In Seasonal challenges you had more time and better rewards (cosmetics as well as points)
Yeah, I’m thinking that all of these points are just part of a grand plan to force microtransactions of any kind into MCC. It’s quite possible, likely even, that they decided that they’re going to go for it and not give one iota for what the players think.
Even in the beyond hypothetical scenario where they may reverse that decision, they’ve developed a track record of not knowing how to implement features without explicit instruction. So, I’m going to create a numbered list of actions that they can take to make the challenge system and the overall process of earning points easier and player friendly. I encourage anyone and everyone to make numbered lists because that will be the easiest thing that they can process.
Move all Exchange Content from the Exchange into a 9th Series following Series 8: Mythic. There’s enough content within previous exchange stores plus items from the August update to fill at least 50 tiers if not 100.
Make everything cost 1 season point. 1 season point. That is how much most series items cost with a few exceptions, but that should be the normal price for all items.
Increase the durations of the tactical exercises. Make them last for two months instead of one month. And make them earn 5 season points each, rather than 2.
Double the amount of experience points earned in all weekly PvE and PvP challenges. Make all gold challenges earn 2 points, and all normal challenges earn 1 point.
Reimplement campaign experience. Since we can now earn spartan points by leveling up, there should be more ways to earn experience points in PvE outside of challenges and firefight. Here’s an example scaling in parenthesis that I would like to see.
With how much experience points is needed to reach the max social rank, I think that this scaling is perfectly reasonable. It would encourage players to challenge themselves on higher difficulties and make their efforts feel more worthwhile.
If 343 does not do either some or all of these steps, I can only conclude that 343 is intentionally making earning spartan points more difficult. And on top of that, making each point less valuable by making everything more expensive. What conclusion can one come to other than that this is a strategy for 343 to force people who play MCC into microtransactions of any kind?
I kind of feel like agreeing with you on this one. I have literally nothing left to unlock in any of the seasons and I have zero clue how much stuff I’m missing from the exchange.
In some ways I get why the exchange exists since it encourages me to turn on the game and maybe actually play the game but sometimes it feels like I’m only launching the game to redeem a few items.
Agreed, and its a doubling-down on the altered status of The Exchange. When it was first introduced it was presented as a means by which players (for an inflated point cost) could acquire previously challenge specific cosmetic unlocks. It gradually mutated into a secondary marketplace with increased FOMO. There are still armory pieces that have never appeared on The Exchange and now its going to be the delivery mechanism for dozens of new unlockables instead. Not cool 343.
Its effectively increasing the costs of getting items, so that they can add micro transactions and get applause for “not making it harder to get SP because of MTX”…when they just made everything cost more SP instead.
Not even just all these new items but there are still Exchange only items from season 8 that have never been in rotation even once. And that’s on top of having older season challenge rewards that have yet to ever enter rotation.
Wait is this for real? I have finished all seasons and exchange unlocks aside from avalanche sniper for H3, so I’m unable to see the amount to unlock stuff.
Would you be able to post a picture/link to this new required point amount?
I have to agree with OP’s post statement. I’m not so upset about the week wait myself but the exchange should at least 2-3x as many items per weekly rotation as they currently have.
I think they want players to check back weekly at least and the exchange is a method to help do that.
With that said it’s been months-years since seasons have come and gone and I figure many people still need those unlocks that they missed out on. I think around 10+ items a week in the rotation would be a reasonable upgrade.
This here is referring to just the new cosmetics coming. All previous (Series 1-8) ones are the same price. This is down to how the new cosmetics that come as part of this update are all a part of The Exchange which has a minimum cost of 2 points per item. The first of which is coming next week (check the link below)
