343, you deserve a pat on the back.

In a little more then a year, we will have Halo 4. (As long as everything goes to plan.) But yet we have NO in game-footage, and only one preview trailer. Now to the average person, this might be considered poor marketing. But it just hit me, they know exactly what they are doing.

In order for Halo 4 to be successful needs to be in the spotlight, without distractions. It is thought that 343 doesn’t want to overshadow the release of Halo:CEA, but this isn’t it. This month is a HUGE month for gaming. Skyrim, MW3, Battlefield 3, Halo:CEA, Batman, the list goes on!

I’m thinking that 343 wants the gaming community to be at the “we’re beginning to get tired of all these new games,” stage. If 343 releases info on Halo 4 at the right time, with the right information they could lock it’s success.

Already having over 100,000 pre-orders it’s clear the Halo fanbase is already quite excited for the release but we need to reach out to everyone else too.

That isn’t “pat on the back” worthy.

> That isn’t “pat on the back” worthy.

On the contrary, I believe it is. Smart 343i.

You guys disappoint me, giving praise to 343 for absolutely nothing.

Well if anything it’s a benefit to the people who’ll be playing a game a year after its release. Better marketing strategy, veterans and new players buy, more people online, more matches to be found, and so-on.

> You guys disappoint me, giving praise to 343 for absolutely nothing.

They’ve already spent several years developing Halo 4 and kept quiet about it.

Plus they’re giving us Halo: C.E. Anniversary and continued support of Halo: Reach.

> You guys disappoint me, giving praise to 343 for absolutely nothing.

I give praise to them because without them there would never be a Halo 4 or CEA

Halo would of ended with Reach, & we would always have that cliffhanger in Halo 3 (at the end) but would never get to see what happens after & what happens to Master Chief

hey it is a great job at keep it under our nose. Plus they are trying hard.

> You guys disappoint me, giving praise to 343 for absolutely nothing.

It’s how/why they do nothing that’s “pat on the back” worthy.

Well considering that 343 actually does care about the campaign story , I say we are all in good hands*

343: If there’s demand we’ll make it!
^Interpretation: Milking.

Good job, 343! pats on back

No, OP’s right. It’s a smart move to hold out on info, at least until BF3 and the other one have receded from the public’s mind as media giants. When the dust settles, 343 will be right where it wants to be. The rest is up to them.

Milking it would be exploiting it in any possible way and making as much money as possible whether fans request it or not. What you’re talking about is fan service.

They are exploiting Halo by making anything there’s a demand for. You can’t make a profit on something if there’s no demand for it so obviously they’re not going to exploit it “in every possible way”, just in ways that are sure to make a nice profit. It’s all business, chaps. I’m not saying milking’s bad, but usually quality degenerates the more you milk something. Just sayin’.

True, but this doesn’t seem to be the case with the Halo franchise.

except for halolReach, halo does very well in quality in all its games.

Agreed. Enjoy the forum while it lasts in this state. Soon you’ll have the Bungie kids in here claiming nothing is wrong and that we should all “adapt” to everything.

You don’t have to stereotype an entire community, newcomers will likely adapt to our community (see wut i did thar?).

You must be new here. They don’t say “adapt” here too often, but some are just as annoying…

Now that’s just not true. Reach was quality, it just didn’t have good mechanics and whatnot. To argue it wasn’t well built is silly.

Like i said… enjoy it. They will come. You will see it.
