I see lots of playlists (too many, waaaaaay too many) but ZERO definitions for what the rulesets are within them. Who exactly is this latest TU aimed at? Fanboys and “Pros” only?
Look, I’m a massive Halo fan who has played a lot of Reach (and the previous titles), but I confess to having an extended break in the last couple of months to play other games. I have however planned on returning to Reach once this latest (matchmaking) update was deployed.
Trouble is I have absolutely no idea what the rulesets are for each of the new numerous playlists. BECAUSE 343 CLEARLY EXPECTS ME TO KNOW IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Not everyone reads the Weekly Bulletin/Update, and with that in mind 343i seem RUBBISH at communicating what goes on and where, so I will instead ask the community, thanks. Clarity please, very much appreciated.
I’ve tried “vanilla” Reach a couple of times hoping for new maps and have seen none. - is it possible to play on them in things like vanilla Squad Slayer and Team Slayer? Is TS still monopolised by black & white Forge maps?
Does Premium Slayer mean the Ani Maps are now included or is it still just the same old DLC?
Is the CE pistol found in ALL Ani playlists, or just certain ones? I’m unsure whether or not it features only in Ani Classic…?
What is Bloom now set at? 85%? 100%? Is it only in Ani Classic or all Ani playlists?
What about Armour Abilities - are they available in Ani or not? In which gametypes are they available/unavailable? So far it seems really inconsistent to tell either way - sometimes I can sprint, other times I can’t. What about Armour Lock Bleed-through - how on earth do I tell if it’s in operation or not?
Again, how on earth do I tell whether or not AL bleed-through and the Invisibility nerf is in operation? WHICH PLAYLISTS ARE AFFECTED?
Why is the Beta playlist even still visible?
I had more questions but in my annoyance I forgot what they were.
I thought 343i were going to tidy things up and create a streamlined Halo experience for every sort of fan, but all I see is a mess of hoppers and confusing gametype descriptions/ rulesets.
Can a well-versed fan provide a better explanation as to what goes where than the apparently incapable caretakers, themselves?
Surely you cant alter the way weapons feel and the damage output of said weapon from playlist to playlist? It just confuses everybody? Scrap the ruddy TU or bring it into all the playlists.
I think they have been busy with Anniversary, and they will whith H4.I hope they will come with a more clear stuff now it’s been released.
And please,343, add as many maps as possible to each playlist!People are running away because they’ve been playing the same thing for months, and lower player poll = more lag = even less players…
> What baffles me most is 343’s apparent insistence on spreading the playerbase as thinly as possible. Why do we need so many damn playlists?
It was kinda Bungie’s idea, but a lot of the community wanted different playlists too…
I agree though, a clear definition of each playlist is needed. Maybe list the spawning weapons (ala, Team Slayer: two teams of 4 fight it out with AR, Pistol and 2x frag starts on official and community made maps with 100% bloom). I don’t know, but I feel something does need to be done about the playlist descriptions. If not for Reach definitely for Halo 4 if 343 plans on having so many.
Completely agreed. I love Reach, but I’m getting a little tired of 343i tending to want to spread people about so much. Not to mention, I’m tired of the piss-poor job that’s been done of distributing and making available existing DLC (Noble, Defiant) to the regular playlists.
The Anniversary gameplay changes need to be kept to their own corner of Reach. Likewise, the classic Halo Reach experience needs to be kept rather than forcing the Update changes on those of us that still enjoy Reach as it is.
This is my first post, so i might as well make it in a worthwhile topic.
OP is absolutely right. If you follow 343i/the forums often, most playlist are easy to know and navigate. But i can easily imagine a more casual player being overwhelmed by the amount of playlists with mostly commical descriptions (aka " you are the pistol" - why not just state it’s the halo 1 pistol).
Thanks for supporting the point of the thread guys. It’s encouraging to know I’m not the only one having these issues. Does bsangel ever chime in on such threads?
Reassurance would be cool, even from a fellow gamer who knows far more about this than I.
too many playlists, thats for damn sure. Two things are to blame the way I see it…
8 million different settings, NO bloom, 85% bloom, CE pistol, DMR start, elite slayer, bro spawning, regular spawning, TU, non TU, vanilla reach, AA’s, no AA’s… OMG, pick a standard and stand by it, its driving me crazy.
Greed. Back in Halo 2 days, map packs eventually got released for free, so the whole community could enjoy them and the playlists could be married. Thats what would be best for the game, keeps the community together and brings the population up by giving out some freebies to the not so die hard population members who dont rush to buy the maps right away and are maybe playing other games. But Noooooooooooo, gotta squeeze every last BLAMMING dollar out of your fans(sry CUSTOMERS). Now we have to have 6 different playlists for all the damn DLC, its stupid.

Or like Halo 3 did first map pack free and the second map pack for 160 Mircosoft points.
