Regardless of the direction you are taking with the game. Regardless of how you feel about the never ending bickering going on the forums. Is there anyway you can just say something? Anything? We are a quasi-patient crowd. I know this. The community at large can be a very fickle thing. Can’t say this because of PR reasons and shouldn’t say that for confidentiality reasons. That being said, I thinks its about time to get atleast something from the horses mouth.
Something along the lines of, " Community, We all understand your concerns regarding the next installment of your favorite game. We are hard at work at making the next version of Halo be the BEST version to date. Thank you for all of your support and we will be joining you in the fight soon. Stay tuned for big news. Frank", would be fantastic.
Do it in the forums as well, not on Reddit, or Xbox Magazine. How long does it take to type 5 sentences into a browser field? Give the fans who have shown utmost support for you a bone to chew on for a couple of weeks.
Thats one of the main differences between you guys and Bungie. During the developement of Halo 3, I remember Luke and Stosh used to post all the time. Atleast once every couple of weeks. It made the forum community feel like a small part of development. Its just a tip. One I know you guys probably won’t take.
I sign the letter proudly, as a long standing Halo player, with the hope that it finds you well and you take it to heart.
> I think they try to take after Disembodied Soul. They very rarely post and when they do it normally makes no sense at all or is off topic.
I still remember a long time ago when someone was complaining about how the devs never come on. and Frankie randomly aappeared. Everyone in the thread shut up after that.

Yes, the very rare and nonsenical/off topic post that they routinely make. Let me guess, it was something along the lines of “Oh hai?”.
343I generally only replies to technical game / forum questions, positive commentary on gametypes, or other questions that are informative in nature (such as if they plan on bringing a specific gametype back).
Which makes sense, as no one wants to risk a PR nightmare responding to some angsty forum goer shouting “WHY DOES HALO 4 SUCK?” I really don’t blame them for not responding more often.
Citation:
I’ve had about three of my posts responded to from a 343I employee.
Normally I’d say not this early, but Halos current state being in so much jepardy, perhaps something like the OP posted would be a good thing. Something very basic.
We have to realize that 343 is NOT Bungie. Bungie started from the bottom and fought for they’re legendary status in gaming today. A lot of that has to do with their community interaction and the passion they had for THIER own creations.
343 is a corporate creation. I remember Kiki wolfkill saying they looked at market trends when creating Halo 4. Hence your perks, PODs, and “Press B to kill Elite” campaign ques. Most likely they cant make a move without -Yoink!- approval. If anyone at -Yoink!- pays attention to population and the general state of the community then 343’s next move is probably heavily monitored. Meaning they cant show anything until they know it wont piss off whats left of the Halo community.
Its literally make or break for me as a Halo fan. If we cant get ONE playlist that plays like arena Halo, I’m done with Halo MP. I’m not saying kill Infinity style Halo just don’t force it on me. I think 343 did a decent job with campaign and really opened up the universe so I’m confident Halo 5 will have a good story.
I don’t care about how it looks 60fps is enough for me. I’m concerned about gameplay.
This is what I am saying. Before I say this let me reiterate that I ABSOLUTLEY care about the development of Halo.
In my original post I stated I don’t care what they say, if they say anything at all, about the new game.
I care that they interact with their loyal fanbase. Not on their personal blogs, or on xbox magazine, or in a press conference. Here in THEIR forums. Where hundreds of fans come everyday to talk about THEIR game. Its an even playing field that they cannot control.
When Luke or Stosh used to come in they were honored. Sometimes people did bash Them or the game but then the Banhammer came out of the closet and shut them up.
I agree, a bit of acknowledgment from 343 would be nice, but I suspect that they are incredibly busy making the new halo game, which is understandable, at least they are nice enough to the community to keep updating the rotational playlists in matchmaking

> 343i does a community Q&A every few weeks, where they answer as many forum questions as possible. That basically fulfills what you’re asking.
I think that he is REALLY asking for something else…
A certain subsection wants 343i to utterly comply to their demands for Halo 5. This groups seems to know what is best for the IP more so that those that handle the franchise. Such is the righteous fury that they believe that they can assume direct command of Halo, even though it does not belong to them.
Of course, all of this shall be dismissed. They just want “communicate” after all…
Compliance and Communication are two different things.
