why is there no active population counter
Is it becauuse you didnt want or do you have something to hide
I am glad they don’t have one. it gives players a false sense of security in a way. they may want to play a certain game type but then if they see another playlist with a higher count they may not play what they actually want to play.
Because they didn’t want one?
Yes, But a general population counter even like just on Waypoint somewhere would be more than acceptable. A counter I really want in game though is Ping to the server.

Why do they need one? All they do is funnel people into playlists with more people. There really isn’t a need for it.

that allows for slower matchmaking times allows less stress which adds more people to the game the higher the game pop gets the more people flood in the popular the game
Why does it matter? I kind of get tired when people constantly talk about population as if it indicates whether or not a game is good.

It let’s consumers know if the game is successful and how many people play it…which can be an indication to some people if the game is good
It lets me know which playlists I’ll actually be able to find games in. Honestly the only plausible reason for them to not include it, is that they don’t want people seeing how low the population is.
Yeah, I would really like to see how population of this game doing right now.

ping had to be excluded as there werent room for numbers that large on screen.
Totally agree.
Im not that interested in short time population, but population over time half/full year i think halo would beat most other games. Cant even think of another game that keeps giving me joy (and total and utter despair) everyday after 1 year. Other than back when i played CS 1.6/GO
Because they are afraid to show players that Halo 5 has a low population (which is currently sitting outside the 15 most played games on Xbox One).
everytime i look at the most played list on my xbox, h5 is between place 18 and 24…
most of the time it’s right behind battlefield 4, which according to bf4stats.com has a 24 hour peak of around 12 300 players on xbox one… so theres a hint how many players play at the same time h5.
but i think there is an official population thread allready (?)
at topic: i think they didn’t put in a counter, because they don’t want people to easily see how big (low) the population is, because they are afraid it would drive away more people

This. 343 just can’t handle people knowing how bad their Halo games are doing compared to Bungie’s.
From what I remember, Overwatch doesn’t have one either, guess that game is really a failure because they don’t show one.
Regardless, with or without a population counter people will take any chance they get to bash this game. Remember when the most played list on Xbox’s website was broken and it showed MCC in front of Halo 5?

I say the exact same thing but because “it had it in past games” means it “HAS” to have it today and if it’s hidden then they’re “scared” of showing numbers. While I can believe in the speculation of a declining pop, having no pop counter means nothing. They’re just not used as often, I mean halo used to have them, gears used to have them, CoD used to have them (unless the new one has one but I wasn’t able to find one in Bo3).

Arcade mode has population bars that represent activity in those playlists. It saddens me because usually everything but 3v3 has like 1 out of 5 bars, but I usually find a game in 30-60 seconds in any playlist.
