Yo to everyone out there. My name is John, my gamertag is Wolfwood66. I was just wondering if there was any way in heck someone could help me. If not… I guess I’ll just have to live with it for the time being. I’ve been saving up my credits for awhile now to get Inclement Weather. I’ve been doing daily challenges, commendations, firefight, playing online, etc. I hit a wall today at about 1,993,000 credits thereabouts. I must have hit the wall because I wasn’t earning credits for anything I was doing today anymore. Fine, okay. I still had some custom challenges to finish… so I finished them just so they would show up completed. I use the Bungie app on my phone and after my custom challenges expired I got paid for them (or so my app said). I finally had more than 2,000,000 credits. I turned on my Xbox and went to Halo Reach. Sure enough, my total was over 2,000,000 credits. I purchased inclement weather… and my credits only dropped back down to the 1,993,000 number. Strange. So I went back in and decided to see if I could purchase Pestilence because my credits still read that high… I purchased it and my credits dropped down a million and it showed that I never purchased Inclement Weather even though it previously said equipped. Now when I look at my phone, my paid credits indicate that I was never paid the credits for my completion of those custom challenges… what gives? I wouldn’t have gone in to purchase it if it had been otherwise. It’s not like I purchased Pestilence and I decided that Inclement Weather was cooler and am now going through buyers regret. 343, is there any way you could look at this? I wouldn’t be posting here if this had not happened as I realize I’m opening myself up for discussion. I’ve never cheated, never been banned for anything… Again, if I have to live with this glitch then I have to live with it and work my way back up to having 2,000,000 again to get Inclement Weather. Perhaps I should have looked over everything more closely, but good lord this stinks. I’d appreciate anything that could be down (take away pestilence, give my back the credits, whatever). Again if this is just the way it is then I’ll just have to deal. Anyway, thank you for your time. I appreciate it . I’m hopeful but I won’t hold my breath. ::sigh::
There is a daily credit limit of 120,000 currently. You said you earned well over a million? Right there, red flags are going off. You just have some crazy customs going if you are scoring that much in such a short time. Unless youre playing offline then i could see this all making sense.
That much over a longer time. I didn’t earn that much in a day. Heavens no. I was playing after midnight central time. I went to sleep, then began playing when I woke up the following day (still technically the same day). I did the challenges, got the weekly challenge this week which was “Your daily dose” for 20,343 cR before I suddenly stopped earning credits. As I said, I’ve been saving for awhile now. I hit the rank Eclipse just last week. I’ve been following Halo since 2001 and wouldn’t think of cheating. Again, anyone who has access can take a look at my profile and what I’ve played since the beginning. Over the last year I’ve logged more than 650 play hours into Reach.
I know the daily credit limit is 120,000 cR. Like I said I checked the Halo Bungie app on my phone and it showed that I was paid for the custom challenges that I finished previously. Having never reached the daily limit to my knowledge, I was expecting to receive a message. If you play offline, you receive a message saying you’ve hit your limit after 1,000 cR. The only times I’ve ever been offline are if for whatever reason I’m playing a match and suddenly I hear that little “clonk” noise from my xbox saying “Disconnected from Xbox Live.” Over the last year it’s only ever done that a few times. I always log on immediately after I’ve finished whatever match I was in when it occurs. Just like most who’ve gotten to a higher rank (I hope) , I’ve worked my butt of for what I have (currently 99% armory unlocked and 81% commendation progress). Feel free to look at my previous matches either here or at Bungie.net. Being an honest (though somewhat average) player I have nothing to hide.
Just so you know, the daily cR cap was increased from 120k cR yesterday.
whats the daily cap now?
> whats the daily cap now?
343i are keeping it a secret, we just need to keep playing.
Although, if you ask me, for a comedic point of view, I think it’s 343k cR per day.
Man thats going to make the rank inheritor useless hahah…i wish i didn’t spend so much time trying to get that rank now…;/ unless there is a twist being it of course…“secret”…
pondering…

Curious, how does it make it pointless? Because some people are going to become Inheritors a little faster?
idi…the man hours i guess…determination…but i can see your point. i understand some people can’t always play online and the jackpot is massively larger from day one. Kinda bums me out that i spent so much time and missed out on some things on purpose for a rank!!! i know sounds odd don’t it. I like to call it dedication!

It takes more dedication to play all day to hit 343k cR.
Just saying.
When bungie designed the system, they made it where ANY ONE can get the armor, but it was the dedicated players that had to put the hard time in. It’s not like it was like recon but most people liked getting the armor threw achievements anyway. Or as a exclusive when i competed at pax 2008 for the armor at the “bungie VS the world” in seattle! that was the most impressive way to earn something, and i loved bungie for doing it that way!
Yeah true i can see it from your perspective! As a user and from a developers angle i can see it threw both ways. I wouldn’t one side 343’s decision. It has been a year so i can see what u mean!!!
Almost seems like I should just wave the white flag and get back to work…
Sadly, it’s probably going to be under a category of “You still attempted to spend the credits” judging from how MS and most gaming companies are with “in game refunds”. It’s probably not going to happen. Did your rank increase at all? I would be pissed as all hell but as long as I kept “progressing”, i couldn’t complain about in-game aesthetics that could easily be re-obtained.
Sucks though but most likely, it’s just going to sit “as is”. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of any reason for Cr to just be handed out. Even when people lost out on challenges they swore they completed.
This same sort of thing happened to me. What I believe happened is you had already hit the cR cap for that day, but when you completed the custom challenges, I think the game didn’t recognize it as a standard way of earning cR so it let you earn the cR. But, after you purchased Inclement Weather (or thought you did) the game registered that you should not have gotten more cR, so it deducted the cR you earned from the custom challenges and took Inclement Weather back. So that is why it would appear that you still had 1,993,000. It just reset you to the amount of cR you had when you hit the cR cap when you purchased Pestilence.
That’s just my theory.
Hope this helped!
No, I get that. I wouldn’t just show up and expect to be given credits because I felt I deserved them (people really do this?). What I’m upset about is the fact that I purchased and equipped Inclement Weather and my credits only went down a slight margin. I was foolish enough to think the very dangerous “maybe if I…” thought and purchase Pestilence because my credits still read very high and I thought that my purchase of Inclement Weather was secure. Upon purchasing Pestilence I saw that Inclement Weather was still for sale at 2,000,000 cR and that it now showed that I wasn’t paid for the custom challenges I finished merely for the sake of finishing them due to my hitting the credit wall. Why would it show that I passed the 2,000,00 mark if I had hit the credit wall? I thought that maybe there was something wrong with my Xbox or Live for a moment while I was just sitting there in disbelief. I wouldn’t have saved up my credits to the point they were at only to purchase Pestilence at the last second. What I’d love is for someone at 343 to just reverse this supposed purchase of Pestilence so I can purchase Inclement Weather… again. I wouldn’t have done it had I known that for whatever reason the game didn’t completely register that I had just purchased Inclement Weather because of me not REALLY being paid for my custom challenges to get to the 2,000,000 cR mark. It showed I was paid and let me purchase it then I wasn’t and I didn’t have it.
::Disclaimer:: I did in fact have enough. I’m at Eclipse and my cR remaining to get to Nova is 2,019,400 (yes the number is slightly different because I just did a couple of daily challenges before posting this). If you do the math, you’ll see that I did in fact have enough to purchase Inclement Weather or Pestilence with about 1,000,000 credits left.
For fear of sounding repetitive and whinny, I think I’ll just leave it at that for now. I was going for 100% armory completion, so I would have purchased everything anyway, but… well you know the story by now. I just wish I could be helped in some way.
Thanks, that helps a little though it still stings a bit.
