343, instead of listening to the feedback of the Oceanic community, you flipped us the bird and shouted “-Yoink- OFF”
Recently they turned off region lock.
“Oh well whats the problem there? We can play Warzone Assault and FFA now!”
Thats all well and good, but instead of being sensible, they -Yoinked!- it all up by turning it off for EVERY Playlist, instead of the ones that needed it.
Its made even worse, that even if we play during our Prime time, if there is oe American or European, and 7 Aus/NZ players, the Aus/NZ players get the -Yoink- end of the stick and have to play on the US/EU Servers, even though 7/8 of the players are Oceanic.
Server selection should just be a thing now. I don’t understand why we have to have either region lock on or region lock off. Just let us select the servers we want to play on; so if people want to prioritize matchmaking times over connection, they can choose NA servers, or if they want connection, they choose local servers.

I can’t believe that we don’t have it. Every other game with Azure Servers has it, so why the -Yoink- did 343 chose not to implement it.

Lol, I don’t mind laggy players in WZ. Arena’s a different thing entirely.

So am I, I just dont appreciate that they have ruined Arena for everyone, its impossible to be competitive with the 1 second delay for everything.
343 honestly have no idea what they’re doing. They don’t communicate properly, they listen to the wrong crowds and they have no idea how to fix what they have already colossally chuffed up despite every last one of us here telling them exactly how to.

so consistently posting info on twitter, reddit, and waypoint is poor communication? Huh I wonder what good communication is.
I dont know what you are talking about when it comes too “listening to the wrong crowds.” Do you mean competitive groups instead of social? They did social in halo 4 and guess what, the game was hated severely. Its multiplayer was trash. So they took the complaint of it not being competitiveness too heart and focused on that, now halo 5 is an extremely balanced and competitive game. They ignored the social aspect but it has been easily added and will probably improve in halo 6.
You are telling them how to do it without any real understanding about the process that is needed for it too happen, whether it be the communications of different departments, approval processes, development time alloted etc.

No, it’s more like, different parts of the community have different wants. The same people that ask for Region Lock to be turned off are not the same people asking for it to be turned back on again. Apply what I just said to basically every dividing issue in this community; Sprint, Armor/Spartan Abilities, playable Elites, Splitscreen, etc.

Server selection won’t make it any better or worse, what you’re saying is that the lag will be terrible for everyone, no matter where they are from, on servers were people are “prioritizing matchmaking times.” Therefore there won’t be any reliable “connection” servers left in NA. Then those people who choose local servers won’t be any better off than they were with region lock. I understand everyone’s frustration, but without better broadband internet brought to us by ISPs worldwide (including in NA), these are the kind of issues we will have to deal with.
The problem is that everyone on this planet should have access to unlimited cheap broadband internet, but we don’t, we are a few years away from these issues being irrelevant, until then developers we be trying their best to minimize the issues while continuing to push the envelope and try to innovate. I read an article the other day that the average website now is a larger file than the original DOOM, so it is ridiculous that we have amazing internet technology but I still teach many students who do not have access to internet at home, even here in NA where people think we have pretty good internet (it is better than some places, but far worse than others).
