I was playing with some friends and we ALL started getting massive lag. My PC was running, so I booted up OBS and recorded most of the game. Game audio is cut out (XB1 set to DVI output because HDMI washes out colors) but party chat is recorded on the video.
This looks and feels exactly like the Halo 2 “standby” exploit. Here’s a Youtube link from my perspective, then XboxDVR links from a teammate’s perspective.
They shouldn’t be able to cheat on dedicated servers. Cheating worked on P2P because host could effectively cut off everyone else from their game. So unless these guys actually had control of the MS dedicated server the game was being run on, it shouldn’t be cheating. Which would mean that the servers are just bad at running simple 4v4 games.
Either way, these dedicated servers are far from the solution to all lag and cheating they were hailed to be.
dedicated servers do not fix lag they only fix what happened with p2p connections which is that it stops the host migrating.dropping out because the game couldnt find another host. those kind of problems
Wow. That was painful to watch. I understand your skepticism. You look like a really good player (way better than me) but you were losing one-on-ones that you had every right to win.
I guess it’s possible that their end had a connection issue that lagged their movements. But I don’t understand how that wouldn’t effect their aiming and kills too. It’s good that you captured it all on video. Hopefully somebody at 343 can get this and diagnose.
