343 vs Competitive Gaming

Hello everyone, Quick intoduction from me, My name is Nick, Most people refer to me as bombi. I have been playing halo since Halo 2. I fell in love with the game at a friends house and I soon got an x box after that. I became a competitive gamer in 2008-2009 at the end of halo 3. I never really liked any game other then halo. Halo reach was a failure in my mind. It was a mix between halo and call of duty which was anticipated to become a larger competitive community than halo, and it has. For instance on gamebattles there are usualy about 30 active users on the halo forums and about 300-400 on Cod black ops 2. Halo shouldnt be a part of the past and 343 can make halo a large competitive community again. I saw the news about playlists to come out in january/Febuary and it had nothing about a competitive playlist. Really? There has been an MLG Playlist in halo ever since halo 2. Halo 2 was TS pro but it was the same thing. If 343 doesnt want to respond to the needs of competitive players they are just going to lose more money. My friends list was at 100 friends at the start of halo 4, all of which had played halo reach and halo 3. Now its down to 40 people I’ve been removing all the people who just play black ops now. The main reason they have been playing Call of Duty is because the lack of an MLG playlist. Its just sad to see a game like halo go from competitive friendly to what it is now. Its just plain bad business. 343 is not responding to the needs that us players have. The competitive industy is huge. Look at starcraft, LoL, and COD. Make this game a little more friendly towards competitive gamers. Its not hard to do. I dont want to bring my copy of halo 4 back to the store and trust me im close to doing it if 343 does not start looking at the competitive community. I hands down have to say im dissapointed in 343’s approach to this game so far.

All im saying is put in a playlist(MLG) add a REAL ranking system to it. Im sure a couple more people out there like me. 343 needs to look at halo 4 as a whole and everyone who plays it, recreationally or competitively and make a way to compromise. As of right now it is 100% in favor of recreation.

What’s Up OP!

I look at your story and I must admit that our two paths are one in the same. I remember Halo 2, my first game was at a buddies house! Loved Halo 3 and thought Reach was a amazing turd wrapped in sugar!

Halo 4 bro is dead… It has no chance of making a come back! I also quit and became a black ops 2 player. Honestly that game is fun and has a good competitive feel with the release of league play. I would suggest you give it a try man, because this game is broke! I know COD is not Halo but at least you get what you pay for. Plus the league play really is fun!

Can you edit your first part so it’s not just a big wall of text?

Microsoft wants money.

343 is a new company, and they want money as well.

They are both here to maximize profits, no matter how bad the game becomes.

If they cared about the competitive community or the quality of the game, they would have obviously made some different choices.

Its not like the things in this game are an accident. They knew what they were doing.

Hopefully enough things get implemented to make Halo competitive once again. But until then Ill play customs mostly or go into war games with a full team.

An MLG playlist is something that’s dependent on MLG and 343 working together. I don’t know what the status on that is however that might be a question better suited for the MLG side of things.

As for the ranking, we know we’ll be getting the CSR sometimes early this year. Beyond that, we don’t know much else. If you’re referring to a “real ranking system” such as 1-50, feel free to leave your thoughts in this thread:
