From what it looks like in the youtubers domain. It seems like 343 is going to rely on the community for new maps.
I hope this means they are going to free up resources and get up to speed on the other stuff previous titles had.

Basically yes. While previous Halo titles had Forge multiplayer maps, 343 will be heavily relying on “featuring” popular community made maps, while they make more store content
Yes and honestly it’s lazy. Relying on players to make your maps so they can nickel and dime us in the store is outrageous.
Why are WE paying for armor and gear when inevitably WE will be the ones making our OWN content.
No secret they were rushed to put this game out by gamers and Xbox. they have a lot of technical debt to fix and having this feature at launch would have really helped them buy some time to get caught up.
hopefully that is still the plan.
This game has got good bones, and has can be truly great when the rest gets filled in.
Some of these maps people make are just crazy good. Bring it on!
Dude I’m stoked for the maps players will build. But some of the base maps built by the game devs can also inspire.
Also, if they plan on using players to essentially drive the game forwards it’s very bittersweet. It turns those expert forge makers into unpaid workers kinda.
I agree the game has good bones, and with love and affection to the UI, and technical aspects can build better muscles and vascular systems. I hope that’s all they’re using the time for and plan to hop back over to dropping maps and some modes. If not that’s roughly 8 years they’re asking players to push mp content forward.
Maybe they plan on turning attention to the Spartan MP story aspect. Maybe Ops and Campaign will be Thier focus and that’s the explanation, but as of now I’m concerned it’s a shift of responsibility onto the players
Edit:spelling
Halo 5 decided to remix most maps in the game and let the players make most of the maps roster.
It seems that 343 letting players make the maps would actually be a GOOD THING.
Imagine it.
With less people dedicated to designing, rendering, and modeling maps you would have more staff focused on creating cosmetics, working on the next campaign chapter, or working on cinematics.
Aye, like I said above I hope that is the case. But they should still drop a few maps from campaign if ops if it’s what it is in MP.
Hopefully they also get onboard this custom color train and add an actual way for players to earn credits. Between that, technical functions and new story gameplay. Yes absolutely I would be convinced otherwise and admit I’m probably just throwing a tantrum.
Edit: stupid swipe text
I’m all for them tapping into the community.
I would love to see organised competitions eg. for making Infection maps.
But put out the resources to help the Forgers. They need help and support. And recognition!
The Forge Open Beta is probably the only thing that I might reinstall Infinite for. Of course, 343i would also need to implement a robust and feature-complete Custom Games Browser and File Share as well. If even one of those features is “delayed” when the Open Beta begins, it simply will not be enough to pull me back in.
They’ve done it like this every other game. Generally expected.
i honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they never release an map made by them after forge launches because they know no one likes their 3 laned garbage. at least the community knows how to make decent to fun maps
Oh they would still release maps.
Especially when War Zone makes its return and REQ Packs are added to the shop system.
I just hope they will give more “unique” maps a chance instead of selecting a ton of fan remakes.
hmm… i suppose they would release fan maps under their name so technically it is 343’s map… i mean, it was make in 343’s game engine vya 343’s tools
and good point! though i’m possitive they’ve forgotten/don’t care about FF/War zone. and whiles they’re incompitent… i’m sure they’re smart enough know that re-adding REQ packs would kill the game right then and there… then again, the lack of QA testing says otherwise -v-
REQ Packs wouldn’t kill the game IMO.
In fact, the one thing that REQ Packs has on literally EVERY OTHER LOOTBOX SYSTEM EVER MADE is the simple fact that, well . . .
YOU GET NO DUPLICATES FOR COSMETIC ITEMS
Which is something that I hope that 343 knows to keep unchanged. Because if they do change that blurred detail, THEN no one will play Infinite anymore . . . except maybe the 20,000 people who stuck around Halo 4 after a year.
One of the reasons I stopped playing halo 5. Every wall and object looked the exact same from map to map, with blank boring textures and scenery and pristine cielings and walls and all low res… Felt like I was playing a Nintendo 64 game.
This is indeed lazy.
We’re all hoping that Infinite Forge takes that next step and produces outcomes much closer to dev quality.
Nothing better than the community doing a developers job for free. Community creators should not serve as a bailout for developers.
Yes, and I’m hoping it ends up like that. As awesome as these developer maps are, Forge would undoubtedly provide a great amount of the variety that Halo Infinite currently lacks.
Of course they will rely on the community to make maps for them they did this exact same thing with Halo 5.
