343 turned its back on all of Halos original fans for fans that don't exist

It’s 2022 with a business that is working on being a trillionaire and this is what 343 produced.

Yep, it’s pretty damn bad knowing other studios do better work that don’t have the resources as 343 actually does being backed up by one of the biggest banks in gamming.

REally could have carved out a new base if they actually made the game function, too. Everything out there rn is either garbage rn (COD/Battlefield), battle royale,. or a hero shooter. No AAA arena shooters since Halo 5.

longtime fans are still there, but as you said, they’re moving on because halo deviated from what made Halo Halo. Develepors always feel the need to try and please those that’ll play the game for a few days and drop it instead of those that want to play for years like myself

If you look at the core gameplay of each Halo developed under 343i, Halo: Infinite is the closest to the Bungie era of in terms of movement, feel and sandbox. Not to mention when compared against the other shooters released within the last few years Halo: Infinite’s launch was smooth in terms of functionality. Other shooters have consistently launched with aww inspiring amounts of bugs and issues.

343i is by no means perfect and still have some feedback they really need to take to heart when it comes to monetization methods, playlist options, custom game options, ect., but as far as core gameplay I’m happy with the overall feel.

Halo Infinite feels more like a game for single players who never play in squads, thats why the SBMM is working so badly for clans of 3-4 people.
Its made for the single player guy experience who can dominate when he gets a good spawn, and when you get that magical hit % in that ONE game, just because the SBMMR is deciding everything in this game.
Its interesting to read about Mintblitz thoughts on the game, how broken the skilled mm really is and how it can decide which to that should win the game based on win percentage.
Its really that bad and you can actually feel when momentum is shifting in this game when the kill algorithm is in place. You can get 3-5 kills and then you die 5 times in a row.
Its not skill its just the game decides when you can actually get the kills.

Kill algorithm? SBMM is real but you’ve gone off the deep end if you think spawns and accuracy % are manipulated mid-game to keep you stuck at your expected value.

Well its more likely a rubber band effect that causes the momentum killing sprees, the further away you are from the server the more delay and desync you will experience.

I can’t think of any successful company off the top of my head that had a good standing and made lots of money with its customers and then completely shifted focus and turned out well because of it. You just… don’t screw over your customers, plain and simple. Halo used to be good, now I’d rather play anything but Halo. It’s overrated any more, and lost all innovation long ago.

I actually liked 4. I thought it was a cool direction, even if a little dramatic, kinda liked (and was inspired by) the HD sci-fi artstyle, and I thought 5 could be good. But instead, they just lost all momentum and direction and gutted everything I loved about classic Halo AND Halo 4, and -Yoink!- out 5. Infinite feels so half-baked, and 5 was just a shell of Halo’s former glory. No couch co-op, no game modes, no worthwhile story. All that’s left is shooting guns at aliens and players. A generic suicide. Genericide?

As a matter of fact, Halo 4 was the first Halo game I ever played growing up, and at times preferred it to older entries when I eventually got them. I also had the CE Anniversary, and thought they did a rather fine job re-mastering it. I just really liked a lot of their elements. Those games introduced me to Halo. While people hated the weapon balance and artstyle, it was all I knew. I actually play through 4’s campaign much differently than most play-throughs and reviews I watch, so that’s probably why it doesn’t bug me so much. I go for close-range encounters with knights rather than sniping with precision weapons. I also love needing to frantically hunt for guns and ammo instead of being a human tank. I also really enjoyed the multiplayer and forge… My point is, they had potential. Sure they MASSIVELY changed Halo’s identity, but I still thought their early games were good, even if not good Halo games. They certainly have the talent and resources to pull off a good Halo game. But they f***ed up bad. It’s all a cash grab now, and Halo lost its soul after 4. I’m not buying the next Halo. I don’t even care if it’s good.

Well when we get Forge I will try my best to fix the stock maps and game modes Capture The Flag, Strongholds and Stockpile so we can bring back the good feeling that we had going all the way back to the Halo Combat Evolved. ( I hope  ) Depending on what we can do with Forge.

Peace! :fist_right: :fist_left:

This topic should say “343’s upper management…” The actually devs working on the game are passionate fans who want the best for Halo. But management is not listening. The recent addition of team snipers is a perfect example.

…and how awesome would it have been?! I think amazing!

I would bet the market would have loved the old school feel and it would have brought tons of people in.

Hell, if they had done the Halo 2 model where they launched with a ton of maps and then made you pay for seven more every six months I am confident people would have jumped on that. It would have a novelty feel today.

But, 343 is led by people who have no clue what the customer wants nor what they want.

Maybe its like 20k players left of 20 million, that would be 1% stil playing.
10% of 20 million would be 2 million users and that would have been awsome.
A good number would be around 200.000k users, than the game would still be in a healthy condition.

And I doubt that are even 20k players left, its rather like 10k at max.
10k on Xbox, we dont even have any stats here
5-10k on PC

The game had a huge chance but 343 blew it up.
If it was a Live service game with Forge maps releasing than I think it could have had a chance.
But now I think its too late.

On steam its barely 3-5k per day.

Game is one of the most dead games on the market right now, and if it wasn’t for the fact it is owned my Microsoft the servers would’ve been pulled already.

Im not entirly sure what you mean. Ive been a halo fan since 2005. CE was my firat real experience with a good game and the rest were fantastic in my opinion. I will grant you that halo 4 and 5 were not as good, but I would argue that halo infinite is the best one right now because it bridges the gap between old and new. Just look at how they brought the old designs back! That should be proof enough that 343 cates about their older fams too. Of course they are going to reach put to a younger and newer fan base. They have to compete with activision and other big name companies for business. Thats a necessary evil. They know us older fans wont give up on them. Maybe theyre taking advantage of that, but Im not seeing how they are atm. I will admit I am pretty ignorant of the current climate of Halo and how the majority feels, but when I read this post I knew I had to say something. Halo is incredible. It alsways has been. Halo Infinite is as incredible as any other game. It is emersive and fun. It is modern, meaning its not the same. It is epic, meaning it is the same. I respect your opinion. I hope you can appreciate mine too.

Halo Infinite functions now there is no doubt. The campaign was a lot of fun with very little story.

The problem is Bonnie Ross and 343 put out a game that was heavily broken at launch. It had five maps total for multiplayer. It had a handful of weapons. That is not acceptable in 2021.

On top of that, they gaslighted the community saying nothing is wrong everything is fine this is normal.

Because of the brokenness of the game, it chased away 90% of the players. It took them six months to fix things that should have been done prior to launch.

The most major issues (desync) 343 refuses to fix. They announced they are not going to fix it due to those that have the skills are working on something else. What type of leadership does that? When your community BEGS you to fix their game so that they can play it the company says, “No”. The brass should have been fired right there and then on that!

This is the problem. Some of the worst leadership in the business I have ever seen.

Halo Infinite is the pinnacle of over-promise and absolutely under-deliver.

343 is worse than EA

I’ve been around here since CE and don’t really feel they turned their back on me. I was always in it for the campaign mainly anyway and I really like Infinite campaign. Just been patiently waiting for co-op and hopefully for some DLC.

The campaign for what it was was great. I really enjoyed it. I think the story points of killing Cortana in part 4, then bringing her back to just kill her again was poor writing.

With that said, it was miles better than part 5’s campaign.

Hopefully 343 can get their -Yoink!- together for the multiplayer, because as of today there is barely 2000 people playing on steam. You have 15,000+ playing Farming Simulator 2021 but 2,000 on Halo. :frowning:

I’m savoring it. I didn’t like Halo 5 campaign but this is great and I have only just come back to after playing some other games. Still got heroic and legendary to clear and co-op should be out by then,

It is really sad what happened to Halo multiplayer. I haven’t been able to get into it since Halo 3 when it had a massive population and skill based matchmaking was working really well.
