343 Tips for success

Dear 343, I am speaking on behalf of the original fans of HALO. Halo is not what it use to be. You guys are over thinking your game too much. Halo was simple. That’s all we want is Simple and Competitive, a game that you can choose to play casually or in which you can choose to try your heart out against players who you know are just as good as you if not better and fight your way to the top. Halo needs a competitive ranking system. Right now your goal should be to get halo back into MLG. Making a great campaign is no problem. I have no doubt that 343 can make another great campaign. But half of halo is multiplayer and no one wants to play a game that is only half as good. We want a game like halo 2 and halo 3 again. No one likes the changes. Stop trying to wrap your head around this idea that we want something different. Look at CoD. CoD 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14… they are all the same thing. But why do they keep selling? Because they are good and they are not making any drastic changes just enough to keep it fresh. Also as you can see the CoD games are still in MLG. Halo is slowly being forgotten. Your team has the potential to bring halo back and make it great again. But honestly I believe the best thing you could possibly do is make halo as close to halo 2 or 3 as you possibly can. Just keep it fresh, and watch your game come to life.

No you’re not. You’re speaking on behalf of yourself. I, for example, am also an original fan and I certainly didn’t vote to make you spokesman of anything. And now that I’m apparently being called to I really can’t say that I like what I’m seeing of my so-called representative. We need a competitive ranking system? -Yoink- no. That’s not part of Halo’s original identity. Halo was a campaign focused game that brought multiplayer to the table as the usual box-checking exercise of any FPS of the era. That rode the independent success of the campaign and brought together a loose following that exploded onto Halo 2 (because Bungie overreacted to LAN parties and decided to balance the entire game for them) and co-opted the franchise from there after for their own nefarious purposes.

If you want a Halo that finally lives up to it’s noble heritage ask for THAT, a game built around a making murder on AI’s, rather than tottering on about how change ruined what supposed purity there was to Halo. Change is what brought you to Halo in the first place. It’s a vital part of maintaining life in the franchise and if that just so happens to alienate you (or whoever else has decided to become the community) then so be it. You certainly wouldn’t be the first to feel that way.

I speak on the behalf of the community that we really want AAs on vehicles, Why because it would be awesome! Think about a massive Scorpion pulling off a Thruster Pack Move or forming a Hardlight Shield or JET PACKING!!! Halo would be saved. “Awesome”, people… it’s what saves games.

He realises that there are more people out there PLAYING the game than there are complaining about BS on these forums. That being said…

I for one will not elect you as my spokesman. IM VERY SURE I’ve followed this series longer than most, (I remember the first day H:CE came out) and i really enjoy what Halo 4 has become. Yes it has its issues, yes it needs it’s tweaks. The MM portion of the game may or may not need a competitive playlist but you’re getting that anyway. In fact you already have it and with the CSR coming shortly, i still don’t understand why people like you are complaining. You have what YOU want now give the rest of the fans a chance to have our say!

I for one would of rather you talked about the lack of detail in the campaign. Halo 4’s was one of the best in my books, but now that i know of the ability 343i has in story telling, i want them to open it right up. Give us EVERYTHING from the Halo universe. There is so much left to be told.

But, the problem, you see, is that perhaps COD hasn’t have to change things too much because they and it right in the first place.

On the other hand, Halo for whatever reason, despite what some may think, may not have had the formula exactly right, so, they (the devs) have had to play catch-up.

The above is my opinion.

Others may believe that Halo 3 was God…or Halo 2…or Pac-Man or whatever. And, that’s OK.

It’s not because its formula is 'perfect, in fact its far from it.
It’s because Humans are social animals and there is more sociability on CoD servers due to the fact that friends ask friends to play the game, than most other FPS games. EVEN THOUGH other FPS games are better than CoD.

Now that is as basic as i can explain it without using technical jargon.

As for the whole ‘we didnt vote you as our spokes person’. Geez people So they didnt say it in a way you liked or agreed with. Something you have to admit is that there are a LOT of un-happy, un-satisfied people out there that would whole heartedly agree with this. I personally dont feel that they are speaking for me, but that is OK! Take a chill. Seriously there are better ways to say things then verbally bashing someone about the head.

Agreed. I may not be CE original, but I am (late) Halo 2 original, and that’s close enough, and this guy sure as Yoink! doesn’t speak for me.

I love Halo 4, and many aspects of it play like Halo 2/3. There’s just issues (DMR, for one, IMO) that keep it from being it as good as it can be. I can play Throwback, and it’ll remind me of the competitive Halo 3 MLG days.

Not to mention Humans naturally don’t like change, and when CoD never changes, Humans are naturally happy. Whether there should or should not be change, Humans will be happy as long as it’s non-existent.

I have posted this in several other posts but I will reiterate in a shorter form this time.

MS doesn’t want an in game ranking system , because when Halo has one , it dominates the market and not much sells in comparison. They also would rather sell you a new halo every year or two instead of every three or four because if “Halo X is the greatest game ever” and is still supported why would you buy something else.

An in game ranking system is not coming , but blame Microsoft not 343i. MS owns Halo and makes all bottom line decisions.

Well clearly 343 has no experience if this game is what they come up with after 4 years of work.

IN YOUR opinion. Don’t blame a developer for your hurt feelings where there are thousands/millions of other (online now) who enjoy the game.

Everything is a matter of perspective.

You are not speaking for anyone but yourself.

Why can’t anyone understand that it’s the Grunts that defined Halo.The simplest things can have the greatest overall effect.What did every Halo have that defined it from everything else.I can say with utmost certainty that it was indeed the Grunts.That’s all it ever was.Remember sticking a Grunt in the face and watching its reaction.It would scream hilarious lines and run around in circles and sometimes back towards their allies.Halo 4 does not have this.Remember is Halo 2 where Grunts were dancing in a circle around a skull in a obscure place, i sure do.

DO YOU REMEMBER when a Grunt would attempt to sneak up on you, when you turned around it jumped and gasped and would try to run away only to be felled by the butt of your gun.These moments with Grunts created a experience that could not be felt anywhere else in the video game world.Without Grunts there would be no Halo, this is my view which i regard as fact.

I just wish they would get rid of Prometheans. they fail so bad. worst enemy faction ever and i cannot believe i wasplaying in the magic of the Halo universe…it seems cheap and shallow when they just appear out of nowhere, it doesn’t make any sense and seems lazy to not have an entrance or presence in the environment. secondly most of their weapons suck and feel underwhelming and samey. thirdly their appearance is ugly and not cool in the pallet of halo. maybe in disneys tron but not here. forth, they are just computer data taken from dead human souls that are technically robots with no character making them feel like a choir in vein to fight through all that orange yellow. Fifth, they have no vehicles. Sixth…they don’t fight the covies anymore so the three way faction war has turned into a one man army, because 343 likes to make marines/humans disappear when you turn you’re back. seventh reason is that they take up all your ammo reserves to take them down as they feel like bullet sponges without much impact. only cool thing that came out of them is the disintegration when they die. yet still this leaves the place feeling empty and without the immersion of there actually ever been a battle, unlike the first Halo. been wanting to get that off my chest for a while, just wondered if anyone feels the same?

Surprises me how someone just doesn’t like something in particular and assumes everyone feels the same ways. And some people have some strange dislikes.
