343 The story and passion behind their maps

I was just watching the Defiant Mappack trailer and it shows how awesome the mapdesigns were in that mappack. Some really good BTB maps like Highlands and I was wondering why aren’t they in Halo 4? I mean Highlands is a big BTB map and would work perfectly fine with sprint and Halo 4 overall so why did you guys not stick with these mapdesigns?

This is the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcAGExpiYe8

When you watch this trailer you can truly see 343’s passion and I can see they care about Halo 4 but I wish they showed there passion with the mapdesigns just like they did with the Defiant Mappack in Reach.

343 I have faith in you guys and I believe Halo Xbox One will be really awesome and I hope to see more maps like the defiant mappack in Halo Xbox One or atleast maps created with the creativity you guys showed with that DLC and the passion in telling us all about it.

There are some good Halo 4 maps yes, but I miss the passion and story in them like the defian mappack.

To be fair the Defiant maps are just ripped straight from the books (they’re great though)

… No… they’re locations from the books but not exactly explored much in such detail.

Too bad the map pack ended up a disappointment game play wise, at least for me…

and, let be honest, while paying attention to detail and story is nice, what a good map comes down to is its good architectural design and gameplay over several modes…

Tha’ts why I personally prefer maps like skyline over maps like Ragnarok, The latter might have been more visually appealing and a good homage to halo 3, but it didn’t have the great design and chaotic casual and competitive game-play skyline had…

Sometimes keeping it simple can do more to make a good map then good visuals…

There is often more than meats the eye when it come to the MM maps. 343 has expressed a an example of devotion to their maps that has yet to be rivaled by other franchises. I’m talking secrets my friends.

They made some good maps, the Castle DLC and Majestic DLC were both pretty good/good but what I miss is to see their passion in a trailer and to see what ideas they had while creating these maps.

I know they do have the passion and I know they will make Halo Xbox One much more appreciated by the fans then they did with Halo 4. I appreciate Halo 4 but I miss the passioned and inspired maps in MM.

To be fair with 343 stories were told on some of the maps through S ops missions. Battles were fought, discoveries made and soldiers died.

Yes but I miss those Mappack trailers where they really explain everything and how they came with idea to create a map. Like the Majestic DLC Trailer where they go behind the scenes. I miss those videos were they talk about the maps they created and were you can see there passion.

Majestic DLC behind the scenes is an example and I wish there were of those videos.

Unless one is “boss” enough to save all the Spartans and Troopers/Marines. Boa Squad (Clean Up/Control) seemingly cannot be saved, though. Too many Covenant Elites/Jackals with Fuel Rods/Carbines, the two Mgalekgolo at the beginning, and then the God-Swarm of Prometheans after the Covenant are routed… The allied Promethean anti-infantry turrets on Glassman/Control are the same. They just can’t take any damage before being busted, and the Covenant arrives in force.

Though I wonder why not modify the SpOps areas to be used in WarGames/Forge? BTB/Dominion/BTCTF on Apex would be amazing.

OT: With the purchase of the Halo 4 Prima Strategy Guide, one obtained laminated overhead views of the WarGames maps. On the back half of the maps were little snippets of intel for each map. I know, not much, at least not on the scale of what Bungie and Certain Affinity did for their DLC vidocs, but…

The maps AND armor all have intricate, amazing lore behind them. Sadly, I doubt the potential to really delve into them will ever come into fruition.

Especially now that Requiem took a faceplant into the Epoloch system’s star. There goes Haven, Complex, 2Giants, Ravine :(, Vortex, and Forge Island. At least from a narrative perspective.

Well…there are a few classic maps that got made and remade (including the fact that they made Forgeworld on a ring) that were gone due to cannon (IE the Halo done got itself blown up in Halo CE and Halo 3).

I’m more upset regarding Requiem that the “ghost” of the Librarian was gone.
