I never played halo:CE and, being an immediate halo-lover since 2007, I was eager to get it. When I finally did, I immediately rushed to my TV and jammed it into the disk tray. First off, I downloaded all of the items that came with it (The map pack, Grunt Funeral Skull and the avatar armour) before playing the game.
Within five minutes, I was blown away by the incredible work done by 343i and Saber, because this was just the best graphical overhaul I’ve possibly seen! I remember running around the Pillar of Autumn, completely immersed in the game. All around me, I heard the screams of battle, the flying of bullets, and the inane yelling of ‘WORT WORT WORT!’ I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a game as much as this!
Another fantastic feature was the terminals, ten points in the game that shows the history of the Halo Array from the eyes… eye… of 343 Guilty Spark. This glimpse into the unheard of life of the Forerunners was just total ecstasy for somebody as hungry for Halo lore information such as myself. This was a great feature by 343, and I thank them very much for it!
Also, the maps for Reach were beyond amazing. Seven of the GREATEST maps in gaming history, and they truly were incredible. I’ve clogged over eighteen hours on them since Christmas, and there wasn’t a minute wasted! So, thanks for that, too!
Lastly, the achievements. These achievements really are a lot of fun and a good challenge! That and some of them are based on the age-old challenges set forth by the Halo community over a decade ago. That and the fact that 343 managed to completely pull apart the game and shove these achievements into it is a pretty impressive programming feat. (Otherwise every good XBOX original game would be remade, wouldn’t it)
So, yeah. Thank you Saber and 343 for creating such an exquisite gaming experience.
The community thanks you! Except the trolls, but they’re bored with nothing to do, so don’t blame them.
