So every time I open up Halo: Reach I always see those same announcements that are extremely outdated: “Oooooh here comes Halo 4 only 3 days away (lol)” and “Oooooh watch the last episode of the mediocre Forward Unto Dawn (my personal opinion)”. How about instead you make an announcement saying that all DLC is free?!?
As what is the point in making DLC free when you can’t play it in any playlists because NO ONE ELSE HAS IT? Either announce that they can download it for free, or make matchmaking unplayable for them until they download it OOOOOORRRRR make it that you can only match with players online who also have the DLC maps unless you are playing with a friend who doesn’t have them, to which if they don’t I will strongly berate them for not having downloaded them yet (:

I’ve been tired of it for about 5 years now - how hard could it possibly be to change this announcement, or even the various messages that are displayed when searching in any playlist? This would get the word out and I’m sure anyone with enough hard drive space to accommodate the maps would download them. Here lately it’s been nice seeing the anniversary maps come up once in a great while in rumble pit and multi team, it would be great to see them more frequently. I really can’t say the same for the other DLC maps as they’re far too large for these playlists but even still, variety is a good thing. It gets old playing the same maps all the time especially the boring gray, blue, and green forge world maps. Anchor 9 I certainly wouldn’t mind playing in rumble, haven’t seen that map in like 5 years at least.

Agreed Anchor 9 is an ace map, really enjoyed that one! Would love to see the map with the glassing of reach pop back up (not sure of the name but was it Highlands?) as that map was pretty damn fun. I remember (yep 5 years ago too) not being sure of it at first but it really grew on me, just one of the middle buildings wasn’t the best area to fight in (everywhere else was ace)

Highlands is the wooded map with multiple buildings…little water in the center as I recall and a couple teleporters at either end to two central locations. Has a waterfall on the one side where there’s a cliff and the opposite side is a mountain. That map came up in multi team for Mario Kart(RHR) and I loved the change in pace. I’d love to play it in team snipers over the retarded maps in the playlist now(zealot, countdown…close range maps, really??).

Aw yeah countdown is just annoying on team snipers. Zealot isn’t as bad but still… WHY?!? But yeah Highlands is ace! I also liked Ridgeline quite a bit, and I found Breakpoint (that’s the icy one right?) on Invasion quite a bit and other game modes it was pretty decent too (map was pretty great just that middle ridge got annoying when people kept camping up there). Condemned alright too, the middle bit was the funnest (and most hectic) and then the rest of the map was kinda average. Wasn’t the biggest fan of Tempest admittedly, only maps out of the DLC ones I would easily pass on for anything else to be honest… well unless it’s Team Snipers on Countdown or Zealot eh!

The other maps you mention were too large for the playlists I enjoy, but they did come up for Mario Kart occasionally and I almost always voted for them just for the novelty factor. Most of the DLC maps were just too big, like condemned; were it shrunk about halfway it would have been awesome. Yes, breakpoint is the icy one and it provided an enjoyable Mario Kart experience, id love to play that again though I’d gladly vote for crazy king every time over RHR in my favorite playlist.

As great as it is that the DLC is now free, I doubt 343 are ever going to update the announcement… Guess we’ll be stuck with that 5 year old announcement forever.
