They added gambling into halo 5. That just seems completely unethical. Please, 343. Let this be the first and last time the REQ system is ever used. No one NO ONE wants the REQ system. I’m assuming halo 5 is the last halo in the series because you just blew away most of your fan base, and it seems like you guys wanted to squeeze out the money from what ever is left of your community. Stop being greedy and convincing your long time fans that this is halo at its roots because gambling, like 5 playlists, no splitscreen, and an abysmally short and underwhelming story mode is not what halo is. Please don’t make halo 6 if these things are going to be recurring. Long time halo player, still disappointed.

What makes you think I’m joking?
For starters don’t claim to speak for the community, secondly this not gambling, you are guaranteed exactly what the description on REQ packs say, two permanent unlocks. If you paid real money and feel disappointed then to be honest you deserve exactly that. Nobody forced you to buy REQs with cash.

I don’t think anyone can take your offense to the gambling of fake currency on an incentive based, match-to-match basis, seriously.

You can buy reqs with real money. And because they are random, it entices a lot of people to buy it just from sheer curiosity. It’s somewhat taking advantage.

So you support REQ packs? And the option to pay real money for them?
I’m good with Req, gives those with jobs a shortcut against those who can play 16 hours a day. Maybe I’m just bitter… and I kinda hated having to do some silly achievement to make my spartan look the way I want. Kinda wish I could buy exactly the armour configuration I want (Because getting Copperhead is driving me nuts) but then anyone can do it and yeah… that would be a tad more unethical because they could charge me $50 for what I want and I’d friggen do it @__@

Giving people the option to buy cosmetics & warzone items is not taking advantage of someone. They can earn the same stuff by playing the game, there’s no paywall. I’d like to remind you that if this option was not available, you would be pretty much forced to pay for $20 DLC map packs. I’ll let the people with money to blow on req items do their thing any day, over having future maps locked behind a paywall thanks
Please lock thread. Halo is doomed.

They’ve been saying that since Reach… and Microsoft is backing Halo, so even if… and I mean IF Halo 5 was a bad game, Microsoft will still conjure forth 6th, it’ll just look more like 3. Look at Mortal Kombat 4 through Armegeddon, widely considered trash. They made 9 a reboot that was like the origional trilogy (infact a reboot) and followed with MKX, Now Mortal Kombat is right back on its feet. Games don’t really die unless the corperation says so, not the players.

I said don’t presume to speak on behalf of everyone, while the system isn’t perfect I notice you haven’t bothered to provide an alternate one. If you have a problem with the system it’s helpful to provide constructive criticism, instead the tone of your original post is of someone who blew some cash, didn’t get what they want, and are now whining about it.
Personally, I have no issue with the REQ system, I think it would be better if it was divided into cosmetics and gameplay but other than that no issue. As for paying, I haven’t, I’ve let other people pay for the content and updates, and yes I feel smart about that. Why buy the cow and all that stuff. If someone wants to drop a few hundred bucks for something you could get simply by playing the game and enjoying the ride, then I shake my head and laugh.
You claim it encourages buying? Well duh, do you understand basic business? 343 needs a constant revenue stream, and they are pursuing this system instead of releasing paid DLC drops for exorbitant amounts of money like EA and Activision do. This system has the added advantage of not splitting a community because of people who don’t have the money to, or don’t want to buy the packs. If people who have the cash, it works, it’s also balanced fairly in game because of energy requirements.
Once again, it’s not gambling as defined under any law I know of. The pack is labeled clearly as containing two permanent unlocks if available. Legally speaking, by owning and using an Xbox you have agreed to certain terms, same with the act of putting this game into your disc tray. As part of these terms you are assumed to have the basic intelligence to read what is presented to before you click buy. If you are a minor your parents assume all responsibilities on your behalf, if you are a minor and lie about age or anything else to use the system then you are on the hook.

Thank you, I don’t mind reading other people’s opinions, but when someone just starts spouting off inanely it’s just stupid.

I’m assuming that’s exactly what those huge piles of money that were made on H5 indicate…

I’m trying to let this thread die, but you guys are giving back lash. I’m going to respond one last time, then hopefully no one else replies so this thread can go away.
I shouldn’t have to give an alternate to req packs because it should be obvious: take them out and let people earn armor and weapons instead of depend on random numbers to give you something. And by gambling, I mean paying for something and you don’t know what you are going to get from it. Yes I understand it just say permanent unlocks, but that could be anything. You are quite literally gambling for items because it’s random.
Look I’m just disappointed because halo just isn’t what it used to be. Ya the gameplay is alright, sort of, but this game just feels like a cash cow instead of a great halo game. I’m sorry if I offended you with my post somehow, but this is just how I feel. They took away many aspects from the game that many players would call franchise staples, and replaced them with things like this new req system. It all just feels like a shallow attempt to milk the series simply because it’s called halo.
Every video game aspires to be a cash cow. It’s lying if it says it’s not.
Videogames are a business.
Just to let you know if you want the thread locked you can edit the title to ask for that or you can pm a mod to do it.

I’d say you were right… but you are wrong… or in my opinion you are. If you make it so people can only earn armor by playing a lot, you not only promote people playing a ludicrous amount more time to get what they want (Those of us with Jobs don’t have the time) and then only the addicts get to look cool. All of us who can pay money can show up and not worry about a guy with no life outside halo having a giant stockpile that makes him feel warm and fuzzy inside. I personally love the blind pull system, keeps me coming back for more, and if I wanna give myself a little pat on the back for doing a good job at work, I dish out a lil money and get a little something something.
