343: Still trying to fix their mistakes...

From this weeks Bulletin:

“Starting on Friday and ending on Sunday, hopping into Team Objective and Super Slayer will present you with the chance of receiving a 20,000 credit bonus.”

Why bother trying to determine which one of these playlists should survive? That’s clearly the intention behind the jackpot to check their popularity… They’ve created/modified both these playlists and now they’re calling their own decision into question? This doesn’t exactly shine as a model for predicting future success when they can’t even implement playlists that suit the want/demands of the community. Making arbitrary and un-informed decisions is not the answer here…

OR

They’re simply trying to get players to ‘flock’ to the playlists they’ve created in the hopes that they’ll like them. This objective is doomed as well because the settings are terrible and any of the ‘competitive’ players, those that don’t froth at the mouth when a cR jackpot is mentioned, will not be attending regardless.

We could get into the talk about why Squad Slayer was soooo much better than Super Slayer and the modified Team Objective but that’s been done to death and it is redundant to discuss at this point about why it was ‘better’.

The purpose of this thread is to simply ask: Do you think this jackpot is aimed at measuring if 343 made the right decision by foolishly removing Squad Slayer and implementing a terrible substitute instead, thus pointing to their incompetency in handling Reach Matchmaking…

PS: Don’t get me started on why Arena hasn’t been updated yet instead of consistently tweaking the total garbage state that Matchmaking is in…

PPS:I also love how they answer the MOST redundant questions in the Bulletins:

When in March is the Halo: Anniversary Series 2 figures coming out? It’s the 20th and they still aren’t in the stores or on the store’s website. –Babashnelp

So glad the 5 people that cared about this date got their answer! While the hundreds, possibly thousands of people who have been asking for Arena changes have been ignored since day 1 of 343’s take-over. Glad power in numbers means nothing here!

When will we get info on vehicles in Halo 4? Also, weapons, too? -VRTX Raptor

Be patient. There was no need for 343 to address this question… they can’t give away all of Halo 4’s trade secrets so soon or else there will be no hype.

Can we get a brief overview as to what will happen to Waypoint on and after March 31? -halomaniac87

It’s obviously shutting down indefinitely and they’re not going to keep it running… Silly but somewhat relevant question that was made redundant by their ‘be patient’ response.

notice that every thing that 343 messes up, they never answere it. Its like their -Yoink- child, they just try and forget about it by not even ackowledging its existance.

The DLC algorithm, the new slayer playlist no one likes, arena, and tons of other things that 343 failed on are just being ignored. They do have some impressive screen shots though…

> They do have some impressive screen shots though…

Yes… Because devoting all their time to screenshots is way way way way more effective route for fixing the stae of Reach Matchmaking (Not). They serve as a short and pleasant distraction but 343’s time could be mush more efficiently utilized if you ask me.

PS:I know you were being sarcastic lol…

Please… if anything, they’re trying to help your sorry playlists. Thank them and move on.

> Please… if anything, they’re trying to help your sorry playlists. Thank them and move on.

ROFL. I would hardly take ownership of any of the playlists they have created or modified at this point. They have terrible settings and don’t embody what the non-vanilla players of Reach are looking for. Squad Slayer better embodied these settings but that was scrapped because 343 has fallen prey to some misguided notion that ‘casual’ players like the TU settings. (hence why super slayer is a clone of TU settings)

Between the two-clone playlists (aside from TU settings) the ‘casuals’ will instantly flock to the one where they can AL or utilize AC for an exorbitant amount of time. Why would they purposely choose to limit their ability to exploit broken abilities if they don’t have to?

This jackpot is only going to serve to inject players into these playlist who are ‘casuals’ and other wise wouldn’t play them. They failed again and they know it, this attempt is sad…

Another sign we should be worried - NO BETA. All my friends that work at gaming outfits run Beta versions, so the bugs can be worked out experienced players can give their input and critique, which ALMOST ALWAYS means a better product on the shelves when it is released, with minimum fixes requited. This is worrying, because it either the result of arrogance or ignorance.

That raises one question: How are the populations on those two today? I don’t want to have to pop in Reach for something I can just ask here.

Halo: Reach - Beta - Regarded as worst in the series
Mass Effect 3 - Beta - Hardly any gameplay changes from beta to final game
World of Warcraft - Beta Realms - Nothing ever comes out balanced PVP wise

Halo 1 & 2 - No Beta - Regarded as best in the series
Skyrim - No Beta - One of the greatest games of all time.

Seems that developers are quite efficient at doing their jobs as opposed to asking fans what they want.
Beta’s are done very late in the development process, when fans start getting on the point of asking for core changes, it will never be done.
All creating a Halo 4 beta will do will help up get a few bugs resolved and possibly better settings when the game releases. Which in turn will be pushed back because of the beta.

I believe Super was around 900 and Objective was around 700.
I’m just guessing though.
