343 slightly mad with power?

Ive been a Halo player since the beginning…ive never had too many problems with matchmaking. But this may be coincidence or not but ive noticed that 343 has been banning WAY too many players. I havent had any problems with this but I find it kind of dumb. They have a loose trigger finger on the ban hammer, I believe players can quit as many games as they like. What does that DO? Exactly. Or even in place of the banning and the ridiculous perma banning. Try using Halo Reachs methods. Or even try to work on banning ACTUAL HACKERS. Or maybe in fact, SPEND MORE TIME ON YOUR MAKING YOUR SERVERS FASTER. I have fast internet so yes…it is in fact your servers. This is just my opinion but I think Bungie is better than 343

The problem with that is 343 decided for whatever reason that worldwide and regional connections weren’t needed. As for the quit ban I’m still not believing that until I see it so and if I do, lets just say that’ll be the last time I play matchmaking. I’ll rank up in Spartan Ops.

Quit and mute bans were introduced to the franchise with Reach. They are fully automated – there are no trigger fingers at play here – and are based on post-game stats. Though this does result in some unfortunate false-positives, it results in far more true-positives.

Join-In-Progress doesn’t always compensate for quitting, because the game prioritizes sessions with better connections over sessions where replacement players are desperately needed. Therefore, quitting can still damage other players’ gameplay experience.

These are Reach’s methods. The only changes are that quit bans are longer, and players are actually notified of mute bans. But the methods are the same. They even have some of the exact same bugs that Reach’s ban systems had.

From what I can gather, they work with Xbox LIVE Enforcement, who collects and acts on player complaints filed in a timely manner. (As impossible as it may sound given the number of people on Xbox LIVE, those complaints do receive attention.)

Games are hosted on players’ consoles. This has been the case since Halo 2. The only exception in any of the franchise’s FPS games is the PC port of Halo: Combat Evolved, where players can run their own dedicated servers.

The problem may not necessarily be your connection – you may be getting matched with players from other countries, who receive host status, resulting in bad latency – but the issue certainly does not lie on 343i or Microsoft’s end.
