Take a look at these three pictures of the BR.

Image 3
In image 1, notice the snow/frost on the ground. This is showing that it is very cold in the room. There is also frost of the BR itself.
In images 2 and 3, there is no such frost on the BR probably because it’s not as cold in those environments. This may be showing us just how much attention 343 is paying to even the smallest details and how much effort they are putting into Halo 4.
Just a little something I noticed.
Edit: This reminds me of the details in the first Crysis.
When the island is frozen over, the red dot sight on your guns become virtually useless because the frost has covered the lens. Also, when you shoot, you see frost/evaporation coming from the barrel.
The game looks stunning.
Everyone needs to keep in mind that this game is running on the 360 - a system designed with final specs in 2004 and launched in 2005.
My mind is already racing thinking about what 343i will do with Halo 5 on the Xbox Next.
That’s just the lighting on the BR’s texture. Don’t read too much into it.

I highly doubt lighting would just stop and start in different places.
That’s frost…
It’s really stunning. I wish I could hug 343

It’s not. It’s just the lighting and texture. Hell, I can see the same effect with the Halo 3 BR.
Dude, it actually looks like a freaking gun now. 343i is doing amazing with the graphics. If the gameplay is as good as the graphics, we will be alright.

That’s definitely either frost or paint scratches.
Never have I seen a game with lighting effects that choppy. Can’t possibly be lighting.
Light doesn’t randomly spot on objects.
And if you pay attention, the light is coming mostly from above and from the right. The light colors on the BR are at the bottom.
Good eye my friend that’s really cool.

You’re not understanding. The texture most likely has ‘scratches’ on it. The lighting just makes it more visible.
You seem to be interpreting this as frost, which it isn’t.

So that one specific BR has scratches/“battle damage” on it.
Mmmhmmm. Right.
