343 should set a new standard in battlepasses

Honestly don’t understand the pricing model, soooo short sighted, halo has a loyal following and were being punished for it. Are you planning on spending money currently?

£1 for a piece of armour, £2.50 for a set and I’d probably spend £40 a season, but I’m not spending anything more than necessary with current prices!!!

Like if you agree with this and let’s get them to set a new battle pass standard!!

343 should use its loyal following to lead by example and generate continuous, long term revenue rather than follow the greed driven high price model that we expect from others!

--------Additional points from the discussion--------

Potentially introducing a level xp progression then a separate activity one to unlock extra items to make the battlepass more fun for every player??

Agree with the logic, but that’s a big risk for 343. It would be extremely difficult to find out that the above system is not profitable enough and then try to increase prices. It is much more likely that they would lose a much larger following that way than to start high and make adjustments along the way. All said and done I have to assume so many people are still buying these sets for $20, even if that sucks for the rest of us.

They did set a new standard but not in a good way.

I definitely see what your saying and no one can deny it wouldn’t be a risk. But any new model needs someone to try it or it’ll never evolve, if 343 are honest with us that they want to deliver a more affordable battlepass and armour sets etc but need to see if it works, I believe they have the support to get people to maybe spend a little extra than usual and understand if they have to change it/increase price in the future.

It’s a model that comes along with disruptors all the time, just hasn’t with battle passes yet.

Maybe a tier system could work? Prices from £2.50 to £15 or whatever depending on the tier? Think shadow of war did something like this maybe?? Can anyone confirm or am I dreaming?

@B84_W56_H88 what halo games have you played before and do you see yourself buying battle pass/armour at all??

All of them. I bought the BP but would refund it if I could. They are not seeing a single dime from me in the current state of the game.

Someone on these forums wrote the best post. Don’t pay for it and just play. If you like the items, buy the pass after you’ve unlocked them or maxed the pass out.

I thought the battlepass was going to be industry leading and inspire other devs to change theirs, what with it not expiring at all. Now that we’ve seen it, all it is is endless frustration due to the challenge system.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but Acivision & Call of Duty’s battlepass is WAY better than Infinites, you don’t have to no life to complete it, you don’t have to play the game in an unfun frustrating way to complete it. You play the game normally, how you want, in the modes you want and constantly feel like you are making progress.

Couldn’t agree more, and I hadn’t though about buying it later, that’s exactly what I should’ve done!

Out of interest what would they have to change/introduce to restore your faith and maybe buy some things down the line?

The progression is frustrating, an idea my friend and I had was having a base xp unlock like CoD and then a specific activity related xp (give it a different name or something) that gives you bonus items as you go? This means you can play how you want but still unlock things regardless.

What do you think, have any ideas yourself??

Also I believe the battle pass runs out next May or something no? Can someone confirm?

I could redesign the whole XP progression system from scratch for 343 if they pay me. I’m not going to do a whole write up for feedback they won’t use though.

Yeah, they extended season 1’s battlepass to may so they’d have enough time to fix bugs, respond to feedback, add some events here and there, and still have enough time to get everything for season 2 ready without having to crunch after launch.

Edit: Anecdotally, the current battlepass would take about 3.5 months minimum to complete due to the challenges refreshing weekly, and give or take about 250 hours of actual playtime to finish.

Exactly what @XplosivBolts wrote. There are good write ups on Reddit or this forum and even the news outlets are picking up this “well designed” battle pass.

Do with your money what you like but I find it deeply insulting and disrespectful to strip the game of basic features, telling the public some convoluted reasoning for it and then have them pay for it.
