Recently I’ve noticed there’s been people complaining that there are overpowered things or things that they don’t like. 343 should add a public beta and a new forum so we can download it from the marketplace and play it and tell them what we think.
> No offence, but that wound be a bad idea. Not only will it halt 343’s progress on working on the game, that isn’t the point of a Beta.

> Public Beta’s are only for stress testing which isn’t really needed.
Isn’t the point of betas to fix bugs and nerf things according to how the community/developers feel about certain things and whether they’re overpowered or underpowered? At least that seems what Bungie’s betas were about.

343 does this with closed Betas. You don’t need 1m people to test those kind of things. A closed Beta that takes place over the course of a few months is all you need. Open Betas are honestly just wastes of time.
> It wouldn’t be a real beta, most -Yoink!- holes would just use it as a demo then complain when it was over.
Well then maybe 343 could release it to people who own CEA. And using it as a demo isn’t that bad of an idea anyway. This way people could actually be able tell whether they would want to buy it and if the things people are complaining about now are true.

Betas aren’t meant to help people decide wether or not to buy it, they’re meant to help polish and balance the game.
> I agree it would be fun and it would let us find glitches for you 343 to fix in maps
Yes, but MLG is testing it, better than a few MLG gamers who know lots of stuff then a bunch of dumb gamers who don’t understand game development (not talking about you by the way, just some people i met)
I change my mind why don’t they don’t make a beta but make a campaign demo instead for Xbox live so we could play the demo the one like in e3 so it would keep us occupied and put a demo of war games but with bots so 343 has more time to make the game because if they make a beta it would take out so much time on 343 working on halo 4.

Because all that still takes time and efforts away from the game itself.
What is MLG really? All I get from playing the playlist in Reach is that the people who play that playlist are just a bunch of try-hards and aren’t actually very good in the first place. But hey, all I’ve done is play the playlist a couple of times and haven’t gone on any website or anything…

People have been complaining forever… There is no need for a beta.
As much as I personally would enjoy the prospect of the idea, it’s not in 343’s best interests to do so. Firstly, as one already mentioned, it halts development time, and takes up resources that could be better used toward polishing the game.
Secondly, the Halo audience is wishy-washy as -Yoink-. There are so many conflicting crowds that play the franchise that say “ooh, take this out, keep this in!”, and 343 simply won’t know which way to look. Inevitably, they’ll decide to cater to the crowd they’ll feel works best, but there’s be tons of minorities that will feel dissatisfied.
Keep it to MLG. They’re the ones that play dozens of hours of Halo on end, have by far the most experience with the franchise and its core mechanics (as opposed to to bunch of idiots on a forum), and overall, their competitive approach to gaming will serve Halo 4 in the best possible way.
