My personal opinion on the Permanent Playlists:
-
Team Arena: I don’t care for competitive game-types. I like to listen to a podcast if I’m playing Halo 5 and I don’t want to be stressed while playing a game - although there are occasions for two/three games of sweaty palms and profanities.
-
Team Slayer: This, to me, seems almost redundant when there’s Team Arena. I understand to many it’s not, but I usually avoid this game-type for the same reason as Team Arena, even though I much prefer straight death match to objective-led game-types.
-
Breakout: What the -Yoink- is this, even? I played a couple matches upon release and it never clicked for me.
-
Free-For-All: This is a little more fun, as you’re not worrying about teammates, but I’d be lying if I said I played it often.
-
Swat: Yeah it’s a little fun, but I rarely play it. Very repetitive.
-
Community Doubles: Didn’t even realize that was there.
-
Big Team Battle: The maps are totally -Yoink- and ruin a bit of the appeal, though I do play this game-type often enough.
-
Infection: I don’t know what it is, but I don’t enjoy Halo 5’s treatment of this game-type. Perhaps it was the extremely casual, bare-bones style of Reach’s Infection that I liked, but something about this iteration holds no appeal to me.
-
Grifball: If Betrayal is ‘on’ then I’m out, then again, if it’s ‘off’ then it devolves into children swinging hammers. A rather lose-lose situation, although when there’s a proper match, I do quite enjoy it - at least for one game.
Of the 9 Permanent Playlists I really only play 3, though usually not consistently.
Now the point of all this salt… Super Fiesta and hell, even normal Fiesta, is the only game-type I enjoy. And no, it’s not for the commendations (which I’ve already completed) but because this was the game-type I played throughout Halo 2, Halo 3, and Reach when friends came over. I just love the random chaos of it. It can be both casual and intense. Variants of Fiesta would be great too. Vehicular and BTB would be great! Some of us neanderthals just want to shoot people with crazy weapons, and if space is an issue, then get Break… out.
