Could 343 add forced team colors OPTION to custom matches? Red vs Blue would be nice. If 343 gives this tradition up for the sake of monetization. Another new IP will scoop up the RvB theme and run with it and years from now kids will attribute RvB not with halo but with a new IP. Halo will lose some of its identity. I haven’t played but any video I see shows Splitgate with RvB colors and it seems to be gaining in popularity with others features halo used to have.
You really think 343 cares about Halos identity? they added glare, took out collision and FF. Sooo… all they wanted was a new player friendly game to get the most out of their cat ears sale…
RvB is Halo, alas ftp has taken it away from us, I really hope they bring in a RvB playlist at some point, but unlikely.
I miss it, but doesn’t really effect my enjoyment, I still play mcc while it’s still active so not like I’m without my RvB fix ![]()
They added sprint, aim down sight, sliding, mantling, removed assassinations (Halo Reach was the first AAA multiplayer game to incorporate that style mechanic which is now present in all COD’s), removed the creative map design, and copied the lame modern day practice of “live service” while reducing the campaign to a giant sandbox without a story reminiscent of Halo.
Why would they care about simply coloring teams when they scooped out so much of Halo’s personality?
Every time I see a Splitgate video come up I think it is Halo at first glance…
RvB isn’t even a Halo IP.
I’d be more worried about RoosterTeeth soiling RvB’s identity (alongside their own) more than they’ve already soiled it.
Halo wasn’t the first game to do “Red vs Blue,” but it sure is one of the most memorable games to have ever done it. The Red and Blue team colors that were made popular by the old Halo games is dead and gone though. 343 did away with it to incorporate the new Outlines mechanic so they could try and push more cosmetic sales for Infinite. Personally, I prefer the old Red and Blue team colors. It’s a shame we only really get to see Red vs Blue during the HCS events.
Hate to break it to you, Red vs Blue has been in video games way before Halo, and Halo in no way popularized Red and Blue colours for teams.
isnt red vs blue just…the default? that and didn’t valve if anything make it “popular?”
I dont get people who are so stuvk up on this of all issues. Halo didnt invent rvb or even make it popular. They adopted an age old standard that predates video games and its not a hill woryh dying on at all foar as im concerned.
It’s worth dying on insofar as removing the stupid outline system that gets me killed so often. I’ve been playing Splitgate recently, and it’s so nice knowing that I’m not just blasting bullets into the void because I can clearly see that the bad guy in front of me is red instead of every color of the rainbow with red on the outside of his character model.
I understand why they made it this way - Timmy the Whale who has put $500 into the game needs to feel special, and having his armor be colored the way he wants it makes him feel that way. But wow does it make the game feel so much worse to play.
i’ve never associated red/blue with halo specifically, only with team based activities. it’s a really common combination, even outside of video games. i’m not sure i follow what you’re saying ![]()
Well lets think about it for a second.
- Most are mad about outlines because they are too easy to see.
So thats a wierd opening premise to say “its worth dying on” off the bat. - The option to turn off outlines =/ RvB. So its also an erroneous bit of logic to conflate 2 arguements that dont necessarily have the same conclusion.
- Every enemy I see in the game is purple. And its clear as day who is and is not a friendly.
Anyone “blasting bullets into the void” obviously has issues with their reactions. - Many people who have yet to spend a dime on the game are happy to have colour choice 2. Would probably enjoy it more without coatings though.
- Having multiple friends who have issues with coliur sight so im super happy to have them catered to by default. Its a really positive thing from that perspective.
- Surely you have a reticle with red on it to tell you when you arent looking at a “bad guy”?
- The thread is about cutom games exclusively so it doesnt change matchmaking making it a niche version of the arguement and definitely not worth dying for haha.
Bruh, dont let them ruin that too.
That’s definitely a component of it. The other part is that it’s confusing to look at, at close range.
The suggestion is to remove Outlines and replace them with RVB or allow us to turn off Outlines and turn on forced RVB.
And that doesn’t work for me at all at close-range, and least of all when teammates have armor colors similar to the outlines I have in place. There is no outline I can pick that will 100% of the time never be represented by someone on either the allied or enemy team. The biggest issue is that outlines seriously damage “At a Glance” threat identification, especially at close-range. My Halo brain is wired to say that anyone who’s color is predominately not my own, is an enemy. That doesn’t work with an outline that changes in intensity based on distance
I have been playing Splitgate recently, and it’s incredibly easy to identify bad-guys with a cursory glance at where a cluster of people are. If ain’t Blue, it ain’t a friend.

The solution to that, is allow us to bake in what the forced colors we want are before we start the game, Not the outlines.
That’s disabled on PC.
I don’t see why this couldn’t be an accessibility option in custom games. For some people an outline might not be enough.
Red reticule being disabled is one of the casualties of their anticheat. If they enabled it, they would have to pry into what is happening on the players PC to prevent aimbots.
They could just add a RvB playlist in the future.
I dont need any citation for anecdotal info dude. Same reason you dont need to provide splitgate K/D.
It feels like this is more an issue of you not relearning than it being an objective issue.
Took time for me to adapt but i did. And if someone like me xan do so, im sure you could also.
Lack of RR on pc is a hudle though to be fair.
The outline system actually isnt the same as baked colours for many with inpairmants.
One friend of mine for exanple can only play odst, reach and infinite becaise it provideds constant outlines to seperate ai from geometry.
Would increasing the outline constrast and boldness not achieve the same effect without changing the visual distinction of infinite as a product?
Or the disabling of friendly outlines wholesale?
Player expression being so neutered as is id hate to see it further trivialised.
As someone who bought nothing from the store and only play the campaign on GP id hardly qualify as a timmy the whale. But i think being able to make your spartan feel distinct is a net benefit to the game.
Edit:btw how is the new beta season 2 contwnt in SG. Is it a big addition. I liked the game quite a bit but felt the game disnt have the longevity.
This is a multiplayer topic. Thanks for joining in. You don’t seem to have a horse in this race. Or am I miss quoting you?
