I have recently bought an rx6950xt to get the highest fps possible and try to make mnk feel good in halo. I am glad to say that my fps now matches my ping. I can finally play halo at 250fps on 250ms ping. I have to say that id rather do anything else that play halo infinite atm. If there werent any weekly challlenge rewards i wouldnt even boot up the game ever. Playing at that ping in ranked or in social since there is absolutely no difference between the two atm is an awful experience. What on earth is 343 thinking? Is sbmm that important in social that they need to put me at such high ping games? One funny thing is since there is sbmm in social almost every time i play i am top in the scoreboard of my team ,thing is if sometimes i want to relax and not have to carry or play at this ping i just prefer to respect my time and just leave the game. That leaves my teammates to be slaughtered like pigs by the enemy team because sbmm wanted me to carry them. I dont know man social doesnt feel like social and high ping games combined with dsync is just pure AID5.
I feel you. Exact same thing that made me leave this game months ago. I refuse to touch infinite until the desync issues and ping issues get fixed. I started playing quake champions and couldn’t be happier.
It’s not prioritizing SBMM over ping, it’s prioritizing very short search times over everything. My friend (silver-player) last week was being put on a high ping server, just to be matched against high diamond and onyx players. If the game prioritized SBMM, that wouldn’t have happened.
The game should just wait a little longer to find players on your server and not just after 2 seconds think “oh, not enough players yet, lets move over to the other side of the world”.
They prioritize sbmm. Your friend matched onyx players as a silver only and ONLY because someone from his own team had a high hidden mmr. The game took an average of his team’s skill and matched it as close as possible with the other team and it doesnt even care about good connection. That is what happened and definitely sbmm played a huge role in that.
My friend was not teamed up and searched solo, so that he was playing with someone with a high MMR is BS.
you can get teamed up with people with high mmr. They dont have to be in your fireteam in order for the game to recognise someone as a high mmr player. You lack basic knowledge on how sbmm works . Thats what sbmm does. If your opponents have high mmr the game balances that so that the overall average mmr of each team is as close as possible. You just dont get it. Not worth the effort. If you have trouble in matchmaking i suggest you git gud.
So people should be in matches they don’t belong in to justify your new purchase?
This is one complaint I feel is very valid. Prioritizing connections to better the experience before trying to push sbmm is always going to have better results for people that play the game then the other way around. I understand you want to pair up the best possible candidates first for the best out come of a match, but at the cost of people being forced into unplayable matches just to try and pair the right people should be obviously not worth it.
I want the best matches up too, don’t get me wrong. I don’t like trampling down fresh installs regularly at all, more so if I can’t communicate and help them improve regardless of what team they’re on like I did in the old days of gaming online.
Another reason I honestly want to see a custom server browser in this game, so people can pick their servers, on top of providing probably the best way to casually play the game too.
What do you mean belong in to? Its social anything goes. Its not ranked therefore it shouldnt be taken as seriously. I can not for the life of me understand you people who want social games to be as or more sweaty than ranked. Facing yourself in social is not fun. If you want balanced teams go in ranked if you want social then play social. If you are that bad that you cant have fun in social then play against bots and improve. I ll tell you where players dont belong in to. 150 ms servers thats where.
The thing is that the match-maker doesn’t have to wait. It knows exactly who is on line and who is likely to finish their game in time to match with you.
The fact that it just goes, nah - yoink - it, just shows how low the population has dropped.
Yes. SBMM is very important.
But I agree that everyone should have the choice. It would be very easy to introduce a slider or two.
But I’m not sure it would help you that much. I imagine that the type of players that would choose 100% ping would tend to create a cesspool of sweat.
At the very least you should be able to nominate a minimum ping you are happy with. ie. match me up to 150ms or don’t bother.
It’s tricky.
You don’t want to play a bunch of people your own rank. That’s sweaty.
You don’t want to play with people ranked below you in matched teams - carrying is too much hard work.
Random is never going to find you games with enough opponents ranked above you.
So what is it you want? (rhetorical question).
And there it is…
A close game is a good game.
Whereas I can’t for the life me understand why people play ranked games and social games with the same intensity.
How much you sweat is up to you.
In ranked you play super tactically. You sweat your little -yoink- off to eke out a kill and run from death like your life
depended on it.
In social you run around and have fun taking risks. You John Wick it at every opportunity. Get a double kill but have no shields? - go for the triple. Grab that Sniper rifle even though you know you aren’t any good with it.
As long as you play consistently your MMR’s will separate and the quality of opponents will be different. You get close games in both but with a completely different vibe.
The key is not to switch back into sweaty play / tactics as soon as your team falls behind. Because that eventually pushes your MMR back up to ranked territory.
Its frustrating in Australia.
I will play a game at 20ms and even tho desync is still rife its more enjoyable.
The 20ms game will finish, and ill select play for next game…immediately “connecting to server” within seconds and im dropped into 190-250ms match.
I simply dont agree that is the best match it can find, given it searched for 5 seconds…its just dropping me into a server to fill a match for someone elses location.
Id rather it take a minute or two while i browse my phone then play at such a high ping.
This games match making system is a joke. I haven’t had a game with good ping and even teams in over a month at this point.
Like, I legitimately don’t understand how we went from H5 giving decent hit registration most games to now, where the every game is decided by which team has a player with bad enough packet up/downs to have a god AR.
I can’t understate how crappy the games have been for me on a Series X and in the US recently. Unreasonably bad with no logical explanation besides a crappy foundational system imo.
I play EU daytime fairly frequently, and get 250ms australia servers, 180ms west coast servers, 130ms mid US servers, 100-90ms east coast US servers, and very occasionally a 23ms EU server.
I want to only have the east coast and EU server, nothing else is playable.
Why can’t we have server select?
Yes, we need server selection! Fully agreed!
Yes - it is absolutely unforgivable that they think it’s acceptable to put me on 120ms servers, get this -Yoink!- sorted.
Sick of it.
Thank all the content creators complaining about lack of content that’s the driving force as to why this game isn’t getting the proper things updated first…
- FIX NET-CODE…
- FIX NET CODE…
- FIX NET CODE…
Pretty simple but content creators cant make money off that… so its a win for them and a loss for the community…
MP is the mean feature of Halo… not forge, not co-op, not campaign, not custom games…
