Everyone just complains and whines regardless. I swear this continues to get worse and worse every new installment (even though people did have a reason to hate on Reach). Let 343 be original. They’re the experts.
Also this goes for die hard fanboys who can’t hop off 343’s nuts (or Bungies back in the day). You guys are the most annoying of them all.
So people stop complaining because…
It’s not going to do anything at this point
It will keep the fanboys from being absurdly annoying and saying “aDapt…derrp” “adDapt ore leaave, we d0nt c@r3 durrr”
Halo CE was the greatest game of all time, and Bungie took no response from the community because they had no community.
No, they did the exact opposite. We wanted less layers of gimmicks and gadgets to help you beat someone you wouldn’t normally beat from normal skill. Instead, they added more.
Even after they made a tally on Reach for basically the same thing, and the TU won, they still decide to go thorough with this. It’s a slap in the face!

What makes you think ANY of these things will be game wide? Keep your -Yoink!- on kiddo. There’s a reason Halo has more than one game type and playlist.
Overreacting and hyperbole spouted by people like you is exactly why we don’t want them to listen.

HAHA HAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHA
My god, this is a good read. What does 343 need to do? Take the correct advice from the community. What is that? Who knows, but I’m sure that they’re on track to making a fun enough game.
343 needs to listen to the community, otherwise they are going to turn into Activision and make crappy, gimmicky games to draw in people for money, rather than a fun and competitive game.
At least when they listen to the community, they still have the old time fans keeping them in check.
That is a pretty ignorant statement. I don’t remember anyone really begging for bloom to be put into halo reach, but it got implemented anyway. It’s the parts of the community that don’t know enough about how their suggestions may actually hurt halo that shouldn’t be listened to. Like people asking for killstreaks to be added.
Sure at this point in the game whining from the community will probably not change anything (until the first multiplayer title update hahaha) But a good developer should always listen to criticism from the community. But in the end they are the ones who have been working on video games a career for years where as most of us haven’t. So I leave the big decisions up to them.
I love being a Halo fan. And I know 100% that I am going to play they hell out of Halo 4 both Campaign and multiplayer. And I will enjoy every second of it with my bros.
Sure the game might not play the same as it did in the past Halo games but why would you want the same game over and over again with different maps?
343 is taking this game and making something their own. Which is scary for a lot of Halo fans. People just need to Have faith. Frank O’Connor is a smart dude and non of us should be worried in the slightest.

But if they shouldnt listen to the community, why would they listen to you in this thread? (Dont over think it its a paradox)
OP are you serious? Saying 343 shouldn’t listen to the community is basically saying this forum shouldn’t exist. Constructive criticism helps developers improve games and cater them to everyone in their community. New footage was released yesterday that had some pretty radical changes in it, and you expect everyone to not be skeptical and just accept it?
If the developers don’t interact with the community then Halo 4 will not be anywhere near as successful as they hope. Halo 3 had an amazing community, if they ignore or (as you rightly say) take the wrong information from the community, then the game will not be a true successor to the original Halo series.
Disagree. 343 should listen, but take everything said with a grain of salt. I think Bungie was a little too stubborn in the sense that they wouldn’t even give us ZB or anything for customs, or 1 playlist, but I am glad they didn’t just cater to every cry on the forums and they stuck with what they felt Halo should be (as much as that sucked for those of us who have a different for Halo).
After the March update I am very skeptical about 343’s competency, but only time will tell. I think they’re smart enough to at least provide a “classic” experience in H4 if they decide to ruin the game by Turning it into a CoD Reach ShadowRun Halo Hybrid piece of gimmick aim assist filled garbage, unlike how Bungie did with Reach.

> That’s were you are wrong, the MLG halo community and Halo 3 50s are the experts.
Experts at playing the game and experts at making a succesful game are two different thinks. While experts at playing the game need to have a heavy influence, it is not the only thing that makes a game. Take Shadow Run for instance, it was one of the most competitive console FPS’s in history yet it had no campaign to attract casuals, no marketing plan to attract anyone, or a ranking system to keep people interested.
Having gameplay that has a high skill gap is only 1 of the many things that is needed for H4 to be a success.
> Take Shadow Run for instance, it was one of the most competitive console FPS’s in history yet it had no campaign to attract casuals, no marketing plan to attract anyone, or a ranking system to keep people interested.
It was a terribly unbalanced and all out un-fun game. It was a bad competitive title. Prove me wrong.

How so? I didn’t play it too much but it felt quite complex and skillful to me (much more so than Reach). It was also pretty big on the MLG circuit amongst Pro Halo players, so I find it hard that they would enjoy such an “unbalanced” “bad competitive title”.
And regardless, maybe that was a bad example. Whether it was super competitive or not, I’m just saying that giving us CE gameplay with new weapons and maps isn’t going to save Halo. We need an addictive ranking system, an awesome campaign, and a “Halo” feel for it to be an enjoyable and successful game (both amongst competitive/skilled Halo players and the casual majority).
