343 did a great job of making improvements and showing us that they listen before. They made us have faith in them for H4 when the updated Reach for no bloom (which was great btw). They dropped the ball a bit on H4, most people accept that. They did another show of good faith in H4 with the turbo update with 4 shot kill, 2 shot melee, etc… Those were both great updates.
Now, the entire halo community is on thin ice and looking to 343 in the next game. I would like to see 343 do another show of good faith to hold us over and maybe get more hype for H5. I think this could work in 2 forms.
Another good update that shows they understand what the community wants and what works for halo. I would hope that it would be in the form of no sprint+increased base movement speed and/or descope and removal or flinch. I understand that they are hard at work on H5, but I feel these things could go a long way in restoring some of the community’s faith in them going into H5.
Being a bit more transparent in their progress in H5. They would not need to start showing videos of gameplay and tell everything in the game. Instead maybe just mention a couple of hot item topics like descope, flinch, sprint, armor abilities, join in progress, personal ordinances, aim assist, etc… Simply saying that some of these things are being improved/removed for H5 could also go a long way and get rid of many of the community’s worries.
> They made us have faith in them for H4 when the updated Reach for no bloom (which was great btw).
No not really. At least, not for people who liked Reach and wanted Reach to improve. That update showed me that they cater to the very vocal minority trying to push their own agenda instead of the people who wanted the update for the benefit of the Reach fans. Making an update that didn’t fix the real problems of Reach and instead was made for people who didn’t play and had no intention of playing Reach again.
and guess what, turned out that was true. The “updated” playlists barely managed to hold 1/10 of the population compared to the original and once Halo 4 came out those playlists dropped to 10 players.
They haven’t listend to the people with the biggest problem for Halo 4. Ignoring the biggest problem in favour of all the “pros” wanting a weapons update. So now the “pros” feel justified in their complaints while everybody who doesn’t live in the US can’t play the game at all. Being ignored for their “local only” search option request.
343i has shown me repeatedly that I can’t put my faith in them at all.

a) Dedicated servers can make the situation much, much worse then it already is.
2) There’s basically been no information for Halo 5, where did you hear this?

I did “Google it”, I found no information other then “Halo 5 getting servers”. Geez man, even Halo 4, Reach and Halo 3 had servers. For all you know it will be just the same exact thing.
All of the problems with Halo 4 should be regarded as “unfixable.” If anything could be fixed, changed, or added, it would have been done already. A “show of good faith” wouldn’t fix any of the problems or omissions with the game, nor would it bring back any significant number of players. It’s a useless thing to ask for.
I don’t want them to say anything about Halo 5 until they’re ready. I don’t want them to make promises they can’t keep. Remember the Halo 4 Campaign Theater drama, where they said “we’re working on it” and then “actually, we can’t do it”?

a) Maybe they will go for a COD:Ghosts like method. Pick the best option : P2P hosting or dedicated server hosting.
2) They said it would have dedicated servers at E3 Xbox One event along with 60fps

I would certainly hope so, but still, I want 343 to really focus on the MM network for Halo 5.

Or custom games. Month after month of “We have no plans, but we are looking into it” and all we got from it was jack squat.
In regards to dedicated servers, I saw that all of the xbox one games were supposed to have dedicated servers.
In regards to 343 working on H5, I understand that. However, it will be at least another year until H5 comes out. I don’t think it is unreasonable at all to think that there will be another update for H4. I think the no bloom update for reach came out at least this late in its’ lifetime.

Remember there is a large portion of the community who agrees with the decisions 343 made regarding flinch, inherent sprint, personal ordnance, loadouts and the like. We feel these mechanics rightfully replaced dated predecessors making halo smother, more player friendly, and more interesting and fun.
Going forward to halo 5 a compromise must be reached, because if not halo 5 will be a disaster either way. We don’t want halo 5 to default on its loans and destroy itself because a compromise could not be reached.

So why did hundreds of thousands of people abandon it. I won’t say your opinion is wrong, it can’t be obviously, but even if I like something, that doesn’t negate the fact others probably did not.

As I always say, the lack of a local only search option and forcing people to play on hosts from the other side of the planet.
Even I have an opinion on all those changes, but I couldn’t fully experience them because I refuse to play the game without that search option.
Considering all the competition halos gonna have for next year, “Titan fall, destiny, battlefield 4, unnamed cod game by sledgehammer studios, ect”
they’re going to have to make some changes, because while halo 4 did sell good based offa hype and the campaign alone, I don’t think consumers will buy another halo 4…
They need to go back to their roots, while modernizing to a certain extent to appeal to newer players and fans of the trilogy…
But, considering how much. Of a regal they’d hafta do, I can’t say we just. Might get that in the next halo
Halo 4 is what it is, anymore changes at this point could potentially make it worse. They built this game around the randomness and loadout system, trying to turn it into H:CE-3 could do more harm than good for the game. It wasn’t made as flexible as its predecessors, and I think we have all started noticing that.
As far as Halo 5 goes, 343 can do whatever they want whether it’s tell us stuff their getting rid of or adding, or keeping their mouths shut. Either way is better than what they did for Halo 4: “We’re looking into it, and will get back to you on it…” They just need to be more deliberate and efficient with what they do. More communication =/= good communication.
It’s safe to say that Halo Reach and Halo 4 have taken Halo in the wrong direction. You don’t get a series to have it’s numbers drop from 200,000 to 15,000 (not exact, but you get the point) by a lack of search options. You don’t see a series that was the most played game on xbox live for a few years running to drop to 11th (I think) because Halo Reach and Halo 4 were doing well. I don’t know the specifics on these numbers, but I know that I’m not making pointless claims.
If you liked Halo Reach and Halo 4, then that’s great and I’m glad for you, but I can’t deny it that these games have hurt the series as a whole. Things are only going to get tougher for Halo, as Crowbar Man pointed out with Destiny, TitanFall, BF4, and CoD. If Halo continues trying to conform to these games, they’re just going to get swallowed up by them.
