343 Response to negative BP feedback

Wow…

Well hopefully the Weeklies being nerfed is a bigger impact than I’m seeing right now.

Because as it stands, we were given what we wanted (a consistent stream of XP) however it’s actually at the same (or slower) rate than what is was before.

To reiterate, only looking at Daily Challenges:
Prior system: 19 Games = 1,050 XP
Current system: 20 Games = 1,000 XP

Prior system's table if people are interested.
Title Requirement Amount Needed XP
Practice Makes Perfection 1 Play any Matches 1 100
Practice Makes Perfection 2 Play any Matches 1 100
Practice Makes Perfection 3 Play any Matches 1 100
Practice Makes Perfection 4 Play any Matches 2 100
Practice Makes Perfection 5 Play any Matches 2 100
Practice Makes Perfection 6 Play any Matches 2 100
Practice Makes Perfection 7 Play any PvP Matches 3 150
Practice Makes Perfection 8 Play any PvP Matches 3 150
Practice Makes Perfection 9 Play any PvP Matches 4 150

Edit: There’s a chance the XP is increased at some point as the challenges go on - so we will have to confirm that today.

Only 50 XP? And nothing is based on performance or win/loss? I think I’m still gonna wait to play more until they get a better fix. 20 matches for 1 level and rediculous challenges is still not going to be even remotely enjoyable.

I love this. They quickly reacted and responded to feedback. They also acknowledged this is only a temporary fix as they continue to work through more feedback and give us what we really want. Let’s give at least some credit where it is due - 343 has been way more open and honest lately, and it is resulting in consistent positive changes. Let’s not forget where the game was a a year ago vs where it is now.

The challenges are less rediculous now thankfully.
This system will do as a stopgap for now.

Yes this must definitely be a temporary measure.

The adjustments to the weekly challenges is a good thing, but I look forward to seeing the further improvement 343i will implement.

Hopefully they can do something before December 8.

Impressive how fast it was done. Normally developers need more than 3 days to create a hunch of new daily challenges.
Almost like they came prepared.

They mentioned previously in a blog that they had a bank of like dozens of challenges. They probably took out the more annoying/situational challenges and are just keeping the easier ones in the bank right now.

Why do I have to see this update reposted by a forum user? This should be posted on this website first… not Twitter.

Needs leveling outside BP. Ranks.

Isn’t that what the Ranked playlist is for?

I knew someone would say this. No. Needs leveling like every other game out. I do not like to play competitive in halo. Other games yes, halo no. I like their objective playlists outside a competitive setting.

Leveling progression needs to be available like apex legends, like battlefield, like gears, like every other game out on the market.

Preferably something like reaches rank system.

At least it’s for any match. So I can continuously grind that in bot matches until I’m only left with pvp weekly challenges.

I would love to know what’s ticking in their heads for them to be so cheap with people’s time.

It’s sad to see games in this place these days!

I miss when people just made the game as fun and interesting as possible and figured that people would buy it, now with franchises like Halo they make this purely evil calculation about what exactly will get them the most money, it feels like they’ve lost the desire to just make good Halo (although 343 has never really indicated to me that they are interested in that…)

After getting to play with these new challenges for several hours tonight and getting a couple battlepass levels, I can say that I’m pleased with how it works. There’s far less annoying weekly challenges now, and matches always award a bare minimum of 50 XP.

That 50 XP is doing the progression system a lot of favors though. 4 matches now always equals 200 XP, and that number stays consistent. The daily challenge doesn’t ask for more matches anymore, it just stays the same.

Overall very happy with the speediness of the band-aid fix. We still need a better system, but this change was very impactful.

Seems after 40-50 games you run out of Daily Challenges…

My question is why is it not uncapped? I recall 343i saying it would be very difficult to run out of daily challenges and take 16-18 hours. Is this that system or is their 16-18 version yet to come?

I don’t personally think I’ll ever run out, but it’s odd to think about how you can and look at the progress you can make before hitting the cap.

Halo: Reach even had a daily credit cap, but it was ridiculously high. This cap at 40-50 challenges is only 2,000 - 2,500 XP, not much in my opinion.
