I’m having the same issues as well and it was working the other night. Now it’s just saying waiting on Xbox live and never goes through. I’ve cleared everything reset router and Uninstaller and reinstalling and still having the same issue.
Can confirm that this issue is happening to me for the first time ever. Been stuck on the “waiting for Xbox live screen” all day.
This issue is still occurring - just downloaded the game and can’t pass the Connecting to Xbox screen.
If anyone can contact someone from 343 and make them aware this is happening. This has happened several times over the past few years.
Just for clarification this is on the Xbox One version of the game.
DIdn’t see the game listed as having an issue, so they don’t seem aware of it yet. Please fix Halo Wars!

Happening here as well. Can’t connect to multiplayer due to “Waiting on Xbox Live…” issue on Halo Wars 1.
Currently 12:15 EST on Feb 24th, 2021.
Glad to see its not just me. I’ve tried firewall setting adjustments, cache clearing, hard resetting the xbox, network rebooting and re downloading halo wars. No luck. “Waiting on Xbox live” persists.

i got some problems with halo wars 1 and 2 on the xbox store the microsoft support told me to go here to post my problem (Which i think come from them)
When i try to install from the Xbox store Halo wars 1 or 2 nothing happens , i got just a black box and i cannot choose path or validate where to install it. Is there something you can do from here about this ?
I just got halo wars definitive edition on my pc thru Xbox/windows, and can not find an online game for the life of me. Is this due to lack of people playing the game? any help is appreciated. loved this game very nostalgic, but no one to play against online

I can find people playing, but, yes, the population is dwindling. Matchmaking is different to the original game. In this one you search for lobbies and join whichever ones you want. I don’t think it has crossplay, though. I’ve tried looking for matches on Xbox PC and every time there were no results, so I play on Xbox instead and find matches every day.
