This is not a post to rage in, I just want thoughts on what everyone thinks their relationship with the community will do to the franchise and the future of how we look at Halo.
Most people are upset with the constant rumors coming up about Halo 4 information and then there being none, but we can not put that on 343. Its a big game, rumors happen. That being said, I think they could do a better job of shooting down rumors and being more in touch with the community than they are. We are used to Bungie being there every week and every day talking to us. Maybe this industry just is not going to do that. If that is so, what do you think your view on the Halo industry in general will be.
(If 343 is reading, this could be some of the most important posts to read)

Yeah, i think they’ve been doing a good job, they can’t help that people blow the smallest things out of proportion. I also would definitely take their new approach of not giving us constant podcasts and info everyday as long as it results in a better finished product in Halo 4.
I’d rather have a great game and weaker community communcation than the other way around. Not to say that their communication is weak at all, they reply in the big threads and we get out weekly update.

Fail…
343i, just like any other developer, are very very busy making the games we play. They have community managers and community staff that read what we post no doubt. Don’t assume that because they are not posting in every thread that they are not watching.
They probably don’t want to listen to the community about Halo 4 is because their recommending “Tornado Guns”. Anyways, I think they’re reading but just not posting. If they cancelled all the rumors it would make people stop thinking of the game as they are no longer able to speculate about it.
I REALLY like 343 so far. At least they made some options for Halo Reach to at least be a good game, and CEA rocks.
The most promising thing that I have hear though is when Frank O’ Connor said that “Halo 4 feels very classic.” No one really knows what that means right now, but the older Halos are always respected as being the better ones. H:CE>H2>H:R(TU No Bloom No Armor Abilities)>H3

Best weapon ever.
Anyway. I thought it was pretty obvious that you should never believe a rumor unless 343 says other wise. Its not 343’s job to hold your hand and tell you what is what.
Plus rumors help speculation and make the wait go by faster.
I would rather have 343 spend their time making their game. Then sitting here talking to us about rumors…
Bs angel gives a weekly update every Wednesday. She’s pretty active on twitter and she’s always willing to answer a pm when she has the time. I call that being pretty active with this community. She also joins in with a few other 343 people for the 343 community night one Thursday a month.
I’m not sure how much more you want?
343 Industries relationship with the community is fantastic, in my opinion. They eagerly listen, respect, and acknowledge all criticism and suggestions, they listen to our wants and desires, and they care about what we think. The Reach TU and CEA are perfect examples.
Think about it this way, everything 343 Industries does is for the community. Not releasing Halo 4 information? It builds anticipation. CEA? For the community. They’re creating an entirely new Halo trilogy for us. Because they want to.

Imagine if we issued an official response to every thread/post/statement/inquiry/article on the internet that speculated something about Halo 4. I don’t think we’d have time to eat, sleep, or gasp play Halo! So, while I understand where you’re coming from, it’s simply not possible to respond to every single rumor. And, to be quite honest with you, I’m hoping at some point people will realize that unless it comes straight from us, it should be taken with a grain of salt.
That being said, I appreciate your passion and excitement for the game. I know that’s where this is coming from, which will make that day, when it does arrive, even sweeter.
343i has got, in my opinion, one of the best relationships with their community. From playdates to weekly updates to the community manager actually posting in the forums rather than overwatching it.
As for the Halo 4 information, I’m kinda glad they haven’t released anything. It keeps my anticipation up, because I DON’T know what to expect, rather than seeing something, and then when it comes time to play the game, it’s just something I’ve been seeing for a while.

The antidote to a rumor^
If not report by the right authorities…Rumors 90% of the time lead to negative feed back so keeping the game on the DL is a smart idea! Keeps 343i from being accused, as mentioned by snickerdoodle!

Well said.
The fans are passionate. Be patient. It will be worth the wait. I’m dying for information as much as the next person, but I think 343i has done a phenomenal job at keeping in the dark about Halo 4. Even in it’s early stages for a few years.
Coming from someone who works in the video game industry, I applaud 343i. They’re listening to their fans despite the outcry’s and whining at times. Both of which, again, come from the passionate core.
exactly, i like the way 343 is doing it. This gives me something to look forward too. so when that day comes when their is another trailer i get cold chills! Spoilers are no fun and i think they ruin the surprise. So what ever Kiki is doing… she’s doing it right!
Ive always said: the best thing of a new Halo game is the waiting, the few information and the few mysterious words of the developers. without it that halo game wouldnt be authentic
