PAX has given undeniable proof that 343 really do care and they do listen, so as I’ve said many times they care what the fans have to say and they also take steps towards what the fans want. Could Halo 4 have been better? yes. Are they fixing the problems? yes.
So great work to everyone that has put out good constructive criticism. I reckon it’s going to just get better yet.
Well, they at least partially listen to the fans. Yes, we got a new Forge Island, but still don’t have some of the old tools of Forge. Yes, we have the X again, but it isn’t red despite the community being fairly clear on it being a red X. But hey, even the smallest chip off the wall in a prison cell is SOME progress.
Kinda hard to agree with since they created a TU for people who HATED Reach as opposed to creating a TU for people who LIKED Reach.
Well. They at least put the features back in. I’ll withhold judgment until the ranking system is put into place, even though it honestly doesn’t make much sense to me.

You do know that they are not legal bound to do every individual’s bidding?
I know customer service and whatnot.
I just think that at some point, the artist license of 343i trumps the endless requests and potential pandering that members of the community want.
I never doubted them, but I had more patience than some. 343 has been aware of every comment/criticism/complaint that had a major voice to it. But software dev never happens quickly, and sometimes you simply cannot overcome some restrictions (e.g. new armor, apparently, will never happen because of engine restrictions).
Kudos to 343. I’m not a forger or a custom game player, but I’m glad they threw this at those crowds.
Can’t wait to see what I get out of it!

I never said they were, just that they do things halfway.

But what if there final destination is your halfway point?
I do not say that sarcastically
Cheers

Well if I tell my Subway “sandwich artist” to make me a sandwich on white bread with ham, turkey, mustard, onion, lettuce and olive and they say “No problem!” but only give me a sandwich on white bread with ham, turkey and mustard…I think I’d rightfully be mad they went halfway. And if they respond with, “Well, I think this is the ideal sandwich,”…then I’d be even more justifiably upset.

Okay Cobra…You know I like you and all but come on now. That’s kind of a bad analogy.
Buying a game is like buying a prepackaged sandwich from the deli, not a “make your own” sandwich shop. A game isn’t something you get to dictate what parts you want or what gets put in, you just grab what’s already made and go.
Fair enough,
But if we look at videogames as being art, then 343i are giving us their vision of this sandwich…
I hear ya though because community input is important.
But now you got me wanting a grilled tuna sub on Italian Herb bread…

But does that analogy of yours really hold up since Halo 4 CAN change and get updates and isn’t like a prepackaged sandwich that is “take it or leave it” in terms of what is inside? I mean if I get my sandwich and ask for red onions, but get white ones…that isn’t what I asked for.

But game aren’t made to order, they’re mass produced.

People like you suck!
No matter what a company tries to do you still complain. Ever think that it is not a simple fix and they do not have the time/budget to fix this particular aspect of the game? Come on! The game has been out for almost 5 months and they are still continually tweaking and fixing things.
Why don’t you make a damn game and try and make everyone happy. I bet you will shut up then.

I’m glad that they’re making it white. It worked in the Beta of Reach, on swordbase, and is noticeable. There was nothing I hated more than having my vision clogged by big red x’s whenever I was trying to play big team. The white x is an improvement in my eyes
They may listen, but it would be nice to know that they are listening (more feedback). BS angel is good, but it always seems like she’s too busy to communicate with us. Someone specific for this site would be nice.

No, that’s not the same at all. That’s like taking your prepackaged sandwich and adding mayo or removing tomatoes. That’s not like your onion bit at all.
> People like you suck!
I know.

Keyword there: try. They can try to fix something, but that doesn’t mean it will be a good fix.

Well I don’t really see the X being recolored as being a huge problem, but Forge tools I can see. But that is a problem still, sure a nice Forge environment is great, but I can have the perfect foundation to build a house, but if I have mediocre tools then I’m in trouble.
I’m not saying the X and Forge Island are “OMG SO BAD 343 YOU SUCK!”…just could’ve been better.
> Why don’t you make a damn game and try and make everyone happy. I bet you will shut up then.
Probably not.
Bottom line: I think things could be better and maybe 343i could go the distance next time around. At least I can now saw “On my X” and build on actually good terrain now, just wish said X was more noticeable and said terrain was able to be constructed on with better tools.
I guess if that makes me a monster, then whoopie doo.

I tend to agree.
The game is not made to order. And the artist (343i) has to remain true to their vision of what their creation should be.
The customer service and business end of the whole thing compels 343i to listen to the community. But I think that their are limits to this idea simply in that in trying to please everyone, they will invariably please no one…
When we are arguing that the X is not a different colour… I think that the community may be overreaching a tad.
