343 READ THIS :: DO'S AND DON'TS FOR HALO 4

Alright well im going to make a semi-unorganized list of just random things that should and should be in Halo 4, and why or why not. Please ignore my informal approach to these topics, and bare with me, some topics might be tackles head on and professionally, while some sound like a Cr4Z3D 12yr 01D F4nboi.

First lets start comparing armor permunitions in the past, present, and future. Halo 3 had a very limited armory compared to halo reach, which is why so many players, such as myself, fell in love with the vast amounts of customizations and armors, well to begin this topic id like to say, I beg you, DO NOT REMOVE ANY OF THIS GLORIOUS ARMOR BUNGIE HAS GIVEN US :slight_smile: simply add more, bungie gave us x amount of wrist attachments, utility’s, knee pads, armor pieces, and helmets so simply triple that! 343 I beg you…add emerald, ruby, and sapphire visor colors, we want alot of colors for visors! And speaking of colorsI don’t really want to see a color wheel, because this would be hard to get let say, the exact armor color your buddy has, but we do indeed need alot, and I mean ALOT of armor colors. And heres something new you can try to resolve, their has been so many rumors of new armor packs that will be DLC, 343 should definatly leave room for more then just the what we get straight out of the case, because as I’ve just reached 98% armory completion on reach, I’ve began to desire MOAR ARM0R PLAWKS.
Side note- I had this odd image in my head during a Halo/Skyrim playing transition, prepare to pick a side on this next comment…

NO HELMETS?!
Hear me out first, I DO NOT want people running around in-game with no helmets on, this takes away from Halo. What im proposing is being able to in-lobby your spartan either A)Stand normally hold a DMR with helmet. OR B)Holding a helmet against their waist looking at you with obviously, their face showing, so why on earth did I bring up Skyrim? Id like to see something like the very first level of Elder Scrolls games being able to customize every aspect of the face, I know what some of you guys are thinking, you guys of course being the same ones pissed about MC having a jetpack, “Oh this noobs trying to incorporate Skyrim in halo, -Yoink- FANBOY” to that I say no… im just using their face designing system as an example that almost everyone will understand, sounds better then me replacing Skyrim with Skate 3 as an example right?

While I am on the topic of how your seen in the lobby, I have another good idea, when your standing in the lobby looking at your armor, what are you holding? a DMR, altho thats prolly what id stick with holding, I think once lets say… you’ve scored 1000+ kills in multiplayer matchmaking with a certain weapon, it then becomes available as a weapon your spartan can hold in his hands in the lobby, this ofcourse is just for looks. And another thing, lets say you play GriffBall or Team Snipers, altho you cannot even obtain a DMR in these games, as your gaining credits yours spartan is holding one, this should be replaced with that games tool of destruction for you, wether it be a plasma pistol, a sniper rifle, or rockets, thats what your spartan holds.

Alright, as much as I loved being able to say “Noob please I have a 50 in MLG” I love even more being a Mythic and just the more I play the higher it gets, Id love to see 343 bring back both of these ranking systems, maybe having skills 1-50 in service record while still having the recruit-inheritor like rank system! Or maybe social playlists have the reach rank system and ranked playlists will be like arena and halo 3’s ranking system.
In-lobby: Alright, imagine your on Halo 4, in the lobby, you scroll over to your name, shows your armor, your armory completion, just like reach, but down in the corner, it shows the rank you were in reach, id love to show off my high reach rank having my little mythic symbol down in a corner somewhere.

FORGE!
Forge is great and it cant only go up and up, keep adding features!

THEATER NEEDS WORK BADLY!
I do love theater mode…I use it for many of my montages and Machinamas, but it lacks so much, it feels really slow and lacking, compared to other game theater modes such as CoD, I mean we can even reverse precisely, please work on this!

BOTS?
Im not really a fan of bots replacing players who quit out…this Isn’t Gears Of War (thank god) but I do like the idea of a firefight/combat training mode being able to change the skill level of a bot/bots in custom games, this would be GREAT training, maybe even the able to clone a friends skill level after a few games, lets say…I play with my girl, MrsFearClinic, and 3 games straight she goes straight to rockets then to shotgun spawns near the beginning of the game, chances are the bot would as well.

Heres another good question, custom guns, doesn’t seem as farfetched as you may think, you maybe be imagining adding a more precise scope to the DMR or an attachment that adds speed to the AR, or FMJ for the sniper… NO NO NO, Simple customizations that don’t overpower or underpower, or make the weapons unbalances per player, things such as paints a weapon, adding a logo, changing not the redical’s shape but maybe the color, its hard sometimes to aim when the sky around you is the same color as your redical. just things like this that don’t change stats of the gun, but simple customizations!

They really should bring forth bots, especially in forge. We should be able to set the difficulty on them and everything. It would make a lot of maps cooler and also would make the lives of people who make Machinimas easier too.

They should let you bring friends into theater again. Not only to show everyone your films, but for other uses like finding out who’s connection was better so that matchmaking would go quicker.

No helmets while playing is stupid. Its just un-Halo-like.

Forge is amazing right now, but they should make everything thats available in campaign and firefight in the forge as well. Imagine forging on a firefight map? So many people would love that. But thats for Halo Reach, not for the future games.

But speaking of firefight, they shouldnt bring that back. I think it was a type of way to create a Halo-like zombies that just fell through. Its stupid that in map packs they have firefight maps because i’m not going to play on them so why should i waste my money on it?And in comparison with how many people play it daily to the people that play actual competitive matchmaking not that many people would miss it. It takes up valuable disk space and developer time that could be used to create bigger and better things.

You bring up some good points, but re-read my no helmets post, I made it clear i’m very against wearing no helmets in game, seeing as the helmet is my favorite piece of armor we get to choose, but i’m saying the way you look in the lobby, similar to ODST

I dont think the jet pack ruined Halo. Please explain your argument to me. Im not saying you are wrong I just disagree with your current argument, “Its Ruined what Halo is!” Personally I like how it opens up different ways of moving about the map and it makes weapons like the rocket and pro pipe much more effective. Much the same way sprint enhances the shotgun’s and sword’s strengths.

If I could have an ability removed it would be armor lock. If any ability has taken away from the core halo experience its armor lock.

In regards to the rest of your post, I like the idea of bringing back the rank system. I think forge is great and more is definitely better. I think any improvements to theater would be awesome. And I think bots would make the single best addition to the game since forge.

My two cents. Boost weapon damage across the board 25% (I use as evidence the classic pistol in aniversary and how much fun it is.) Remove armor lock or create a playlist dedicated to it. Enough of this kill the hero at the end of the game crap. Allow the MC and Cortana to survive the new trilogy.

I think they should keep AAs. but make them a bit more balanced other than blocking it out completely. I still want AAs in custom gametypes.
Bloom should be optional say for swat, zombies and OP weapons.
Reach ranking should show how EXPERIENCED you are in the game. Halo 3 highest skill shows how SKILLED you are at the game. Both systems should be combined!

Y’know something just occurred to me, but a post made me laugh, and now I can’t remember. Hm.

EDIT: Ahh. Now I remember. Didn’t anyone dislike the way Spartans posed, before a game started? I always would be changing my right shoulder because it looks weird, hope the make a new pose.

Yeah I agree armor lock did hurt the game, but so did jet pack in my opionion, it gets annoying when you in the dmr battle or a sniper fight and someone flys up above you and either rockets you, or AR’s you to death.

If you read the document about the “bots” carefully, it says that these bots will be used by members of “the team” to test maps and stuff overnight.

Customisation is small fry. Not important. Gameplay is paramount and needs to be the focus.

Halo needs 1-50 back. Reach’s system, is not accurate to showing skill. It’s focused on time investment. An Inheritor may just play Firefight after all.

1-50 was originally designed for everybody’s benefit. Not ultra competitive players. It’s more accurate in finding matches of players that have equal skill than anything else.

Reach’s system is just an olive branch to players who play a lot and got frustrated by not being a high rank in Halo 2/3.

Everything else you spoke about is negligible.

They have been working on the game since 2009 Im pretty sure they can do everything grand.

If you read the bulletin frankie said they are finished with campaign and matchmaking not done polishing and refining but for the most part done so i think there is no room for additions.

Every other game on xbox just about uses experienced based ranking systems, GoW, CoD, and reach being the top 3.
If your complaining about people not being set up with equally skilled players, why don’t they just make a K.D. spread matchmaking system? 1-50 isn’t fair to players that that play hundreds of “social” slayer games and get absolutely no rank from it.

im actually not opposed to a lot of this thread i actually came in ready to tear the poster up bc i didnt want 343 to believe this if it was ridiculous lol. my only complaints are the no helmet and gun attachments idea, i know they did it in odst but i feel like its somewhat uneccesary, i would rather see them add stuff to forge or make a destructable environment instead of being able to have my helmet off in the lobby. i love your visor and armor ideas and everything else you said, i would love a green visor lol

well the attachments wouldn’t be like CoD, just something like, redical color changes, mainly because it gets annoying on lets say, on most forge world maps, when you look up or have to aim near a distance your redical disappears in the sky cause its the same color, and maybe gun paint, most games, even GoW(Not that i’m a fan of GoW) has adapted the cool feature, it doesn’t change gameplay, its just a nice customization. :slight_smile:
