343, Race needs a Major Fix

So one day I decide to play some Action Sack in Halo 5, and the game decides for us players to play Race. I am great at Race and I was winning just fine, then I noticed something bad. Something so bad, that it ruined the entire game. How could something so bad like this happen? Let me explain.

Everyone is in a Warthog. When a player decides to jump out of the Warthog, then that player dies. The player spawns back in 1 second in a new warthog. Yes, just 1 second. However, the other Warthog the player jumped out of is still there.

So, guess what happens, just guess. Watch this clip to find out.

That’s right. Someone in the game sat at the start/finish line and kept jumping of the warthog. I could not finish the race because the whole finish line was blocked by Warthogs! This was so bad that the game fps was decreasing, along with the game soon losing connection. 343 needs to fix this, it’s a huge problem, and anyone can do it.

Do you remember Halo Reach’s race mode? If you hopped out of a Warthog, you would not die. You had to wait for 15 or 10 seconds until it would make you spawn back in a vehicle. In Halo Reach your vehicle was still there after you hopped out of it, but at least it didn’t spawn you back in a new vehicle instantly after you hopped out of it!

Oh, by the way, you can’t avoid this problem unless you decide to not play Action Sack at all. This makes me kind of wish there was a voting system, because Race is now included in Action Sack, with all the other game types worth playing. Now when Race is chosen to play, I have to worry about someone doing what that other someone did in the game clip. Please 343, fix this; and in the mean time, to all halo 5 players, please don’t ruin the game experience, even if it is Race.

I had the exact same problem this one time. Everyone was blocking off the finishing with a bunch of empty Warthogs while someone else was quietly waiting to take the checkered flag at the very last moment.

I would like to suggest a solution: If the driver gets out of their vehicle, their vehicle should subsequently explode afterwards. In addition, the starting line should be a slow-kill zone, destroying any players or vehicles that stay around for too long.

That sounds like a great solution. A kill zone would be perfect.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think I would consider it a huge problem because you’ve seen it one time. I myself have never seen it and I’ve played race quite a few times. Because you came on here and posted about it though I’m sure it’s going to get a lot worse because you just told trolls how to mess with this game type if they didn’t already know about it.

I personally think it’s pretty funny someone wasted the time to do that, but in all seriousness, there are FAR more important things that 343 needs to focus on than some troll messing up race in action sack.

Ok, but it ruins the game experience for everyone.

Yes I get that, but people have already done it. It doesn’t make much of a difference if you say it will get worse. It’s already bad when people have done it.

I’m not trying to make a big deal out of this. I do know that there are tons of problems with this game that 343 need to fix. Those problems are way bigger than this one, it’s just something that I wanted to share.

I hear ya man. I think it’s hilarious to run into once. I guess if I hit it multiple times it would be annoying. lol

I’ve experienced something similar.

Something else 343 never tested out. You can’t honestly think people won’t try to get out of their vehicles in race and not do something to effect other players(I’ve played A LOT of customs in halos history) Like another poster said, increase the spawn or add a kill barrier to the start/finish line to keep players out of there.

The real solution is to blow up the un manned vehicle tho as the previous solutions won’t stop someone from clogging up a different part of the map.

i hate race so I’ve never even tried nor noticed the issue till now.

I guess checkpoints also need kill zones to prevent traffic jams like yours… :stuck_out_tongue:

Now that I think about it, I think Race really needs a bunch of one-way tracks. Not only will this render Warthog barricades useless, but also provide incentive to get to the finish line.

Think along the lines of Redline Rumble 2: Detonator (which was fantastic on its own).

Hope I’m not bothering anyone at the moment, but I now thought of another (albeit sinister) solution:

As the leading driver is on the final lap, a scripted set of kill-balls spawn at the finish line and begin hurling down the track.

Anyone caught unaware will be destroyed by the kill-balls and any barricades created will be completely eliminated. The drivers that are ahead of the kill-balls have no choice but to keep driving to the finish line before they get blown up.

Instant vehicle explosions would only encourage trolls to act as suicide bombs. This would change the troll’s actions to solely to grief other players by running into them and killing them/doing massive damage to them, instead of blocking off key points in the race. Same thing with the soft kill zone. People can just camp near it when a racer is in it, block them off for a good 10 seconds, and just like that, a new problem emerges. Also, people can block it at other points as well. Not just the race start/finish line.

Just have the vehicle despawn, and nothing more. It doesn’t need to explode, and having a killzone would only hinder the racers even further, allowing the trolls to benefit.

This has happened many times to me as well. Once there were three people doing it at once. The FPS dropped a ton and I finally lagged out because of it. I just report them when I see them.
