Now the story goes that Solomon ordered the baby cut in half to see how would actually break and yield but that isn’t going to happen here. This community is seemingly so divided and entrenched that any one side “giving in,” much less reconciliation, is impossible. Instead, cut the MP in half. Tailor one half of the game to how the competitive players want and then. Then tailor the other half in basically the exact opposite for everyone else.
All the -Yoinking!-, -Yoink!-, moaning, crying, flaming, trolling, and overall -Yoinking!- drama has over bleedthrough? Gone. All the -Yoinking!-, -Yoink!-, moaning, crying, flaming, trolling, and overall -Yoinking!- drama has over one gun dominating the sandbox? Gone.
Go play your game. I’ll play mine. And I’ll leave you the -Yoink- alone provided you leave me the -Yoink- alone.
Or make the game more competitive by fixing the inherit flaws thus it appeals to both.
Halo 2 was the epitome of competitive games and it appealed to casuals just as much.
The competitive layer of a game is invisible to many but if it is there then the people who care will be satisfied when the others would even know it exists.
Don’t see what the problem is. Halo 1, 2 and 3 did it.
343 should expand and have multiple main titles, one that follows the more traditional Halo formula and another that allows the mechanics of Reach to be free of the confines of living up to its older brothers settings.
While I know alot of people hate AA, it would be a unbelievable waste if the idea was scrapped after the release of Halo 4. I honestly believe there is a large enough fan base to allow for two Halos to be on the market, one just cant be five years old. Lets face it, Halo 3 might have been great, but after half a decade, even players that love that game must be getting tired of it.
It would be interesting to see how the population would disperse if your plan was implemented. Interesting indeed, but I think we are going to get a good look into the popularity of the TU with the TS tryout. What I will be watching for is how much the population shifts from playlist to playlist.

Further cementing my idea of a Battlefield game set in the Halo universe making use of AAs with Spartans fighting against Elites.

For the longest time I wanted Bungie to move more playlists into the Arena hopper ever since they changed it to W/L (Objective, SWAT, Snipers, etc) and keep the rest where they were.
Bungie cited too many duplicate playlists in H3, which is a problem. But rather than effectively deleting the entire Ranked Playlist hub from H3 they should have deleted the playlists that didn’t make sense. Ranked Grifball? Delete. Social SWAT? Delete.
That’s what I want 343 to do here. Again: To end the -Yoinking!-, -Yoink!-, moaning, crying, flaming, trolling, and overall -Yoinking!- drama. Do whatever the hell competitive players want in their half of the game. Make the AR useless. Have ultra bleedthrough. Hell make the AR shoot -Yoinking!- marshmallows that heal your opponent instead. Tailor the playlist so that it becomes their ultimate competitive Tower of Babel. I do not care. But leave my half of the game dam well alone.
That way if I want to be subject to the competitive style of play, it’s my choice.

Sounds hella cool, I can only assume due to contractual obligations and restraints, more Halo titles have not been released up to this point. However there should be nothing stopping that type of exspansion now and it feels like the time is right. MS is not shy when it comes to profit, Halo is money in the bank.
