343 plz Toggle the Sniper Glare

343, I know you’re trying to “modernize” Halo 5, but please, for the love of god, add an option to custom games to toggle the sniper glare on and off, I like having stealth on my side not some crutch that cripples the point of the sniper rifle for my custom games.

Why is the snipe glare bad?

> 343, I know you’re trying to “modernize” Halo 5, but please, for the love of god, remove the glare on the human and covenant snipers, it defeats the purpose. A sniper is meant to be stealthy, and unseeable, not a target every time they zoom in. So please 343, at least make an option in custom games to toggle the sniper glare on and off, please.

Counterplay, fam. Learn what it means. Get your shot off quick before the supersoldier sees you aiming at him. Because now, now they have a chance.

how else will ppl know theyre screwed just b4 i pull the trigger?

I agree that it does hurt its effectiveness at being stealthy but in my mind it makes sense: Spartans’ reflexes were enhanced significantly (specifically 300% for Spartan II’s, I believe) so from a Lore perspective, this just proves that Spartans are able to effectively counter an enemy even if they’re spotted first.

It’s meant to counter camping. So I guess we know how you play.

Then stop zooming in for long periods of time.

It’s the only thing that keeps me from getting my head blown off. So no, the glare is fine.

I wouldn’t bring up lore too much, as you may have people bring up other things that break lore, like the new zoom animation for example, but I hear what your saying.

I’ll admit i’m mixed on this. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it.

Well Sniper Glare wasn’t and SHOULDN’T be a part of Halo, you wanna add it in CoD, fine, wanna add it in Battlefield, fine, wanna add it to Halo, get the -Yoink- out. Seriously this is the problem I have with it. MANY other FPS games do this with “rifles” so why doesn’t Halo stop trying to be “hip” and “modern” and stick with what it had originally as that is what the fans keep asking for! Think about it, Halo 5 is easily the LEAST populated Halo title since ODST, that’s not good for a mainstream Halo title, and these “modern” additions are what’s mainly to blame.

But you’re not giving good or solid reasons as to why it shouldn’t be a part of Halo. Why is it so wrong for it to be in the game? It’s not game-breaking, nor have I seen many people complain so I don’t believe that it’s a big issue.

343i is simply making Halo more complicated by adding little details like this, I honestly don’t see any problem with it.

You realize that the Glare prevents camping immensely, right? Its a good thing that people can no longer sit in a single spot on a large map with a sniper and no one knows where they are until they pull the trigger.

That was the fun of the older Halos, was either camping, or getting that oh so sweet revenge kill. Besides if you read my post entirely I ended up suggesting a toggle option exclusive to the custom game modes, it wouldn’t affect matchmaking at all, except maybe in action sack, but that’s a gamble of long odds.

…wait what? I don’t think camping is a fun part of ANY GAME, and I’m pretty sure a lot of others feel the same.

Well that’s your opinion, I personally like a camp off from time to time, not in matchmaking but in customs, something competitive players, tryhards, and gun runners wouldn’t understand.

Not sure if you’re trying to be offensive but generally speaking, those types of players are pretty good. Camping is a lame strategy and it’s boring, you’re literally just sitting in the same spot and waiting for an enemy to approach.

How does Halo adding it after BF and CoD mean Halo is trying to be ‘hip’ or modern? They saw how effective the addition was at countering camping in other games and added it in themselves. It’s the same reason shotguns have lights, because it lets people know they would die if they got too close to it.

Come back when you have solid evidence as to why it should be removed instead of your opinion that so far a majority seems to disagree with.

I haven’t been able to find any numbers giving any sort of info on the state of Halo 5’s current population. Where, may I ask, is your evidence?

Ok first off, Halo trying to be “hip” or “modern” is basically exactly what CoD does, it takes elements from other games and TRIES to tweak them to fit into it’s own franchise, more often times to fail than not. Second the reason why it shouldn’t be here is because it takes away that fear that the Halo sniper always had. When I play 3, Reach, or even 4 with my friends and one of them has a sniper rifle, I start sweating like crazy cause I know I won’t see them for a while, it’s an adrenaline rush and I LOVE IT! But in Halo 5 when one of my friends get’s a sniper I’m like: (sarcastic tone) “Oh, no a Sniper what ever will I do?” and then I procede to cross-map them with a rocket launcher. It takes out the rush of what Halo used to feel like, that one weapon that always made you fear. Now I’m not talking weapons like Prophet’s Bane cause that stuff is just cheap tactics, I’m talking about a real sniper in the old days was basically the god of death and destruction. Now, not so much, unless they have the nornfang in which they only need 1 body shot for the kill. The point is the glare removes tension, and that rush you get when you know a good sniper has a rifle.

took me about 2 minutes to realize what the heck you meant by glare. lol
