i made a new forge map and finally finished it up. its nav mesh and all the gametype objectivess andn spawns are in place\now whenever i try to build the lighting, even just open the build menu and check “lighting” i didn’t even press build yet and my game closes on me!!! y!!! its not even that big of a map!!!
What are you playing on?
Can you open an earlier version and build lighting from there? If so, note the changes that you did between the version where build lighting works and the one that doesn’t. Do you have OBB visualization turned on maybe? Did you try restarting your machine and (if on Xbox) clearing your cache?
How many lights do you have on the map. I know mine hit dynamic limits somewhere around 300. I’ve never heard of a lighting issue, my map won’t generate nav mesh. Either there is too much light or too many dynamic light pieces. I’ve had my map crash and have irreversible glitches when I increased the brightness too high. Everything has levels, and once those limits are reached, then the map messes up
hello and thank you for your replies. i was able to build my lightmap eventually for my submarine map. if i remember correctly, it seems beneficial to “give the servers a heads up” before you build your lightmap. i tried to build it several times, then went back to it 12 hours later or so and it was able to complete the build. there is certainly no overbudget issues within my map options properties window. no categories are within the yellow or even red overbudget meters. everything is within budget. there are no copy and pasted script brain issues and it just seems like in order to prevent a considerable lag to the overall matchmaking games in progress and pending games in progress, prioritizing lightmap building can wait for the map in question to be loaded into servers that are actually doing the intensive calculations for lighting. it makes sense, like i wouldn’t want somebody to lag in game in matchmaking and potentially lose a round just so that my lightmap can be built with zero notice. rather, i would prefer if i were in matchmaking game for someone to build their lightmap (for the first major build to rough out the functions) to just wait in queue for a bit until the servers reach a lull in downtime and are able to allocate some bandwidth and resources to build their lightmaps.
