The maps , in game ranks and descoping are only things that he said that are needed.
Sprint doesnt limit teamwork what so ever it doesnt have any impact upon it and all it needs is to be lowered significantly if someone is being shot at.
Flag juggling is pointless since it was people just abusing a faultly game mechanic to move the flag quicker and all the reason he listed for its return are done anyway with H4 CTF.
Glorious. Agree on all points, particularly sprint.
People really need to start pushing no sprint if they want Halo 5 to be truly iconic. Sprint will not be the biggest thing to have been removed - the removal of ranks, duel wield, Invasion, weaponless flag, flag juggling, descope and Arena have ALL been more negatively-received than a sprint removal would ever be. 343, I can guarantee you right now that a sprint removal would result in a huge population increase in Halo 5. People would go crazy with excitement on the forums, maybe even more than they did for anything in past Halos.
But the most important thing right now is to get discussing these topics. We need to stop reading these threads and start making them. Halo is the ONLY popular competitive FPS on consoles right now, so it needs to be defended.

Why remove a useful feature (for more than retreating) when it can be easily balanced.

Its usefulness is subjective and based on opinion. For example, I think it has zero usefulness in matchmaking, I don’t find it fun, and it scales maps up.
Now I am all for the return of de-scope. I actually agree with all of the things that were said in the video linked by the OP.
> weaponless flag, flag juggling
As far as flag juggling and flagnum, I am indifferent to it, as long as I can actually drop the flag.
Edit: Sorry A Crestal Myth, I manually typed in your name and totally had two letters backwards. I’ll let you guess which two

Removing sprint affects more than just MM.
Instead of being able to drop it (I would want this too but it would bring back flag juggling) how about being able to pass the flag to a teammate if both parties hold down X.
> Removing sprint affects more than just MM.
True. I didn’t say I want it completely removed. It could stay for customs and/or campaign, but I don’t feel that it has a place in Halo’s matchmaking multiplayer.

You used to be able to pass it by jumping and “dropping” it in midair. The teammate could then grab it in the air with X (or whatever button they use to pick up the flag). Do you mean throw it like the Oddball? But perhaps of a lesser magnitude?

Sort of but more like weapon swapping in GOW3

This is where a lot of the confusion starts for me. Now I agree with sprint being a custom game option. But, A lot of people suggest just what you did: a classic playlist. Here’s the issue. People who prefer the traditional gameplay don’t just want to be thrown into a playlist, unless by that you mean playlist with several other sub-playlists, kind of like this.
We don’t want a single niche playlist like Legendary Slayer, for example. We want the gameplay to be a prominent part of matchmaking (I’m not trying to speak for everyone here, just the general consensus).
I (and several others before me) suggested something before about dividing matchmaking like this:
Infinity- Ranked
- Social
Traditional- Ranked
- Social
Which could work, and it needs to be like this from launch day. Everybody would have their preferred gameplay styles. However, this calls into question something monumental - the maps. Should we have two sets? Keep sprint and the devs build bigger maps? Lose sprint and they build smaller maps?
I am in favor of the last on that list, as I believe it leads to better quality maps. But from what I understand, you (along with many others) favor sprint, and I don’t think we’d be able to come to an agreement there.

Unfortunately, I never played past GOW1, so I don’t know what that’s like.

A button pops ups and of the player presses it they state that they wish to trade and the other player then presses or immediately at the same time and swap.

Gears 3 weapon swapping is really slow, passing a flag to someone in the heat of battle (or passing it up to a team mate) wouldn’t really work well with this system.
Instead of designing all these complex workarounds for sprint and flag dropping, why not just allow players to drop the flag? Flag juggling could be prevented by having a cooldown on when you can next pick it up, say 2 seconds for example.
Sprint artificially speeds up the game and gets people out of fights or requires 343i build bigger CQC maps with elongated corridors like in Halo 4. Increasing base movement speed could easily fix this and not create this runaway gameplay sprint promotes, it would also allow 343i more flexibility with CQC maps, not having to worry about sprint-double-melees and such.

You alter the swap so it can be done whilst miving and doesnt stop gameplay easyily done. But I support a cooldown but it should be a greater penalty than 2 seconds perhaps 5 seconds (for that player)
Sprint could easily be altered to be s,owed down to the pint if theres no point using it if your being shot to stop people running away. Sprint melee is easily countered already by shooting them so you can get a single melee its. It that bug if a oroblem if you know how to counter.
> I support a cooldown but it should be a greater penalty than 2 seconds perhaps 5 seconds (for that player)
5 seconds seems pretty excessive. There are other ways to prevent the flag-juggle. For example, introduce a 1-2 second cooldown upon picking up the flag before you can drop it in addition to that 1-2 second cooldown before you can pick it back up. Or just make movement speed with the flag equal to movement speed without it. Then there would be no reason to juggle it.

I’ll fully support that
I agree 100% with everything that guy said. I think Bravo understands the importance of these features as well, so hopefully there will be some drastic changes when they make Halo 5.
