343, please give us a sign you are listening!

I am sure 343 has not been ignoring the enormous amount of feedback they have been receiving through the forums and other sources, but if they were to give us just a little tidbit of important info about the future of halo multiplayer, it would give us a chance to relax. Right now, everything is uncertain. It would just be a lot more comforting to know for sure that 343 knows and plans on delivering what we as a community want.

They’ve lost the privilege to withhold information in my opinion. But, we most likely won’t get anything until next year.

Let me dig up an old comment of theirs…

> Consider us silent listeners

This is more than enough I need to feel motivated really. They want what’s best for Halo and again

> We have learned the community’s wants and needs
> We will do much better next time.

Although I doubt Halo 5 will be made one of the greatest games made, I’m sure that they will at least start the healing of damage caused by the previous 2 installments.

Besides they are bound to look here for some ideas because when some hundred people run out of ideas where best not to look but the community forums!

I hope they’ve been listening but unlike Bungie, they just keep the silence. I really hope this, if not, Halo 5 will fail-

Microsoft is controlling everything, and if Microsoft wants them to keep “innovating” that will happen. Microsoft killed off rare in the eyes of the fans, one of the greatest companies of all time as they kept controlling and telling them what to do. I suspect the same will happen to Halo.

Never heard of rare? Making games like Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Goldeneye 007, Star Fox Adventures, and more fun games.

Both Goldeneye 007, and Star Fox adventures are two of my favourite games.

Now they make nothing but Kinect games.

Just like the first Halo trailers people buying Banjo Kazooie were tricked into thinking they bought something from the original trilogy. They did not, and the first trailer doesn’t resemble the game at all. They probably had plans they wanted to follow through but Microsoft told them to scrap them, and innovate instead.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfaN267lI_Y This is 343 and how I feel about Halo.

They are. They’ve done good improving 4. They know what to bring to the table while being innovative in their own way. 5 should be a smash hit.

Blame MS right?

Rare had an opportunity to shine. It was called Perfect Dark Zero… And guess what? The world moved on from the Golden Eye formula.

Don’t believe me?

See how well Time Splitters did…

MS gets a ton of grief. However, they understand that shackling devs is not the way forward. The people that make up these teams just leave…

This is why they let Bizarre go and make the game that they wanted to make - BLUR.

This is why they let Bungie go and make the game that they wanted to make - Destiny.

343i are listening. But they will not let those that complain the most dictate the future of Halo. I think that is a great thing.

OP, you want a sign that they are listening? Remember the state that Halo MP was in on day 1. And look where it is at 365 days later…

Then who if not those complainers? I mean, we all crafted Halo and thanks to us is why 343i is sitting in a chair developing the next game. If 343i would listen, the first they must listen to are these people. That includes me.

If they decide to listen only the positive feedback and not the negative, then Halo is done. There’s nothing good to expect for Halo 5.

Microsoft owns 343Microsoft and Rareware (Bought from in 2002 Nintendo).

They only had a 10 year old contract with Bungie (Make 3 games), and sold off Bizarre creations to Activision, where it got shut off later in 2010. Of course they didn’t just let them go.

Most old member from Rareware has left for various reasons, but most of them seem to be blaming Microsoft for the Company’s decline, thus do the fans.

Coming from former RARE composer, Grant Kirkhope…

“I think Rare have completely -Yoinked!- themselves. And - it isn’t their fault; it’s Microsoft’s fault. They have completely ruined that company, and it makes me cry every day of my life.”

The comments come up at the 2 hour, 11 minute and 35 second mark.

Famed Rare employee Chris Seavor has confessed that a number of high-profile Rare employees would have stayed with the company had they not been bought out by Microsoft in 2002.

Chris Seavor got fired from Rareware in 2011 …

And you know who changed Halo 4 in the early stages? Microsoft.

Actually, I think pretty much all the developers from the N64 days have long ago left Rare. They formed another studio called Free Radical which got bought off by Crytek later and made into Crytek UK.

And Nuts and Bolts is a strange game actually. While it’s hardly the great platforming game it once was, the actual core of the game, the vehicle building, was actually REALLY well done. Seriously, I bought the game JUST for that. Nothing else.

Woah, hold on a second now. You know why PDZ was bad? It was majorly because PDZ had a very rocky development cycle. It switched consoles a total of 3 times and if I remember correctly, Microsoft was rather slow in getting the 360 dev kits to Rare which resulted in a less than stellar game.

And Timesplitters? That game fell to the unforgiving fate of not-enough-marketing. It did become a cult-classic though. Ask anyone about Timesplitters and chances are the reactions will be one of these two:

  1. Timesplitters? What’s that?
  2. OMG, YES! I LOVE THAT GAME.

And as far as Bungie goes, after their contract ended, Microsoft didn’t have any say at all where Bungie went and chances are if Bungie stayed, they’d probably be condemned to making more Halo games which, I’m sure, isn’t exactly what Bungie wanted to do.

Now, having said all that, Microsoft isn’t a bad company to work for. There are indeed worse. But they haven’t made the best decisions either. It seems they err much more toward disorganization and confusion than any actual greed or malevolence on their part.

Right. Bungie left us hanging here to do something completly different…a FPS, in Space with more references to their previous game than we care to expect…right.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Angry Angels, Honour & Loyalty.

Yep,

I am not saying the MS has not made mistakes. After all, who has not?

But The trend here is that MS is to blame for other organization’s decisions…

Because Rare was compelled to sell to MS? Because they did not know that they would lose control once they sold to another party…?

On NeoGaf, MS PR is being blamed for daring to utter PR-speak–which is their JOB!

One would think that MS could not do anything right…

On topic…

343i are listening. But as I have stated for a while now, some on here are not looking for 343i to listen, they want 343i to comply to their demands.

And the problem with that is that in trying to be everything to everyone, Halo runs the risk of lacking cohesion and merely installing things for fan service.

What do fans want? Everything.

-Scarabs
-Hornets
-Arena shooter roots
-AA, No AA, Some AA
-CSR in game, no CSR in game, CSR that “works”
-The Chief to talk more, to talk less
-The return of the Flood
-The return of the Arbiter (We will forget how some of us hated the split narrative of Halo 2)
-Hit scan, bloom, no one-shot weapons
-Clans

…etc…

Some of these things are mutually exclusive…

343i must determine for themselves their vision of Halo. Whether it resonates with the people will be seen.
