343 please fix the problems bungie refused too! Read please.

I stopped playing Halo Reach several months ago because the Halo experience was just not fun anymore. There are so many people that go into a game and betray you, quit out of the game, and just don’t play the type of game that has been selected (i.e. it is a capture the flag game and -Yoink-’ are playing slayer instead).

So, I’ve been enjoying Gears 3, some Skyrim, and AC Revelations. Today I decided to play some Reach again and see if it had gotten better.

I can tell you that not only did I have a miserable time, but what I have mentioned is even worse. I did two anniversary BTB games, and by the end of the game 4-5 people had been booted for betrayals, and another 5-7 had just quit out. At the end of the game there was 4-5 of us left. LEFT!

I did a Living Dead game and the second the game started two people quit out of the game just like that. The next thing I know I was killed twice in a row by my own team mate. WHAT THE -Yoink-!

After those three games I played, I vowed right there that I’m done with Halo Reach for good.

So what is the problem with this game and who is to blame? The -Yoinks!- or Bungie?

I completely blame Bungie for not controlling the -blam!-s, and not penalizing the -Yoinks!- enough for being -Yoinks!-.

No matter what you do you are going to run into -Yoinks!-, so part of Bungie’s job is to not allow them to -Yoinking!- piss off players like myself from getting so angry that I hate their game, and that I don’t want to play it anymore.

Take Gears of War 3 for example. If you quit out of a game you get a huge points penalty. That right there is a very large deterant from being a quitting -Yoink-. Another huge problem with Halo Reach is when people simply don’t play. What does Gears 3 do about that? YOU GET BOOTED FROM THE GAME BY THE AI! -Yoink- ya man kick those -Yoinks!- out. Next thing you know an AI player pops in and plays until a real player can join the game.

Now that’s -Yoinking!- awesome especially Epic makes it harder for the -blam!-s to ruin the game you are in.

Bottom line -Yoinks!- will be -Yoinks!- if you let them be. I feel Bungie has allowed the -blam!-s to rub themselves all over those like myself who want to play and have fun.

Your day is over Bungie thank God. Not only do I think your formula has become stale (not as stale as Call of Duty but damn close), but you have allowed the -Yoinks!- to make me hate your -Yoinking!- game.

I just hope 343 will learn from Bungie’s mistakes and not allow the -Yoinks!- to reign supreme.

If you like Gears 3 that much, why dont you just keep playing Gears 3??

And well, for other problems, I got solutions, first off, replacing with AI players in Gears is horrible, since its a Life-shared system that means the stupid AI who cant do -Yoink- will ruin the whole game and farm some kills for the other team (we now remove that option for solution), secondly, quitters, yoinkers, betrayalers, AFK’ers… all those problems are easy to fight, how? well, bring some friends, its fun, easy and it will end with all your problems. Easy as that

Kbzon321,

Don’t you worry I will keep playing Gears 3. Just because I took a moment to play another game does not mean I’m done with the other one.

The AI in Gears is not horrible. It is of course not as good as real players, especially real players with advance skill, but I give Epic serious props for working the AI players as well as they have. It is better than nothing and that’s what Bungie offered NOTHING. Your comment about farming kills is void. I have never had that happen to me nor have I seen that happen. Your comment about solving the problems with quitters, betrayers, etc…easily solved. If you read what I wrote you will find the solution. I will not say it again. Bringing friends is nice don’t get me wrong, but some times they’re not on, and it is difficult at other times to make a party full of people.

I don’t agree with AI players in Halo, but I would like to see a HARSH penalty for quitting instituted. Every time you quit, you should lose 10k credits, and if you quit twice in an hour? You get a warning and the third time you get banned for 10 minutes. Quit again? 24 hour ban.

AFKing should have similar penalties. If a player’s character doesn’t receive any control input for a certain amount of time (5 straight minutes should be sufficient) then they get kicked out of matchmaking and banned from it for 15 minutes plus they earn a black mark. If a player earns 5 black marks in a week, they get a huge Cr cut and get a 7-day ban from matchmaking.

Those are my thoughts on the matter.

Its not Bungie’s fault, Its the parents that let their 8-year-old kids play. Sure, I was eleven when I started playing, but I hung out with kids 4 years older than me, and no, that’s not me trying to say I’m more mature then everyone else, because its not. I’m simply making the point that policing halo is only going to make it more kid friendly.
There are simple fixes to this;

  1. Get some friends to play with.

  2. Edit your search preferences, it won’t completely fix the problem, but it will help.

  3. Try playlists that do not allow guests… quite a few guests I’ve played with are generally peoples younger siblings.

  4. Play a different game!

Also, cut down on the profanity… I swear there were more “Yoink!”'s in your text than actual sentences.
