(I originally posted this at r/Halo but I’d like to share it here too)
I realize 343 probably won’t respond however I’m really hoping they see this and take some interest.
Before The Master Chief Collection was released I had 100% achievements in every Halo game; including multiple versions of Spartan Assault. I took pride in keeping this series at 100% on my gamer card. It’s the only game series I’ve ever really cared about getting all the achievements for.
Pre-MCC, I had 100% achievements (including DLC) in the following games:
-
Halo: CEA - Halo 2 (PC) (Which doesn’t even count towards your Halo Gamerscore on Waypoint) - Halo 3 - Halo ODST - Halo Reach - Halo Wars - Halo 4 - Halo: Spartan Assault (Windows Phone) - Halo: Spartan Assault (Windows 8) - Halo: Spartan Assault (Xbox 360) - Halo: Spartan Assault (Xbox One)Not only was MCC the lengthiest achievement list, but afterwards 343 added a handful of games with unobtainable achievements. Unless 343 provides updates for these games, they will forever remain unfinished on my gamercard.
Halo: Spartan Assault (iOS)
-
Requires an iOS device (Which I don’t have - but I can borrow from a friend. I guess I’m stupid for buying a Windows Phone to obtain Windows Achievements.) - Profile doesn’t sync. Meaning every Assault Op / Mission needs to be done from scratch. This is the only platform that doesn’t sync data. - Unobtainable achievement: Weapon Of Choice - Unobtainable achievement: Skull Combo - Unobtainable achievement: Extra Credit - Unobtainable Achievement: A For EffortHalo: Spartan Strike (iOS)
-
Requires an iOS device. - Profile doesn’t sync.Halo: Master Chief Collection (CHN)
-
Requires a Chinese Xbox and a Chinese phone number to activate. Between the foreign Xbox, the foreign game, and a foreign pre-paid phone number; this would cost a US gamer around $1,000 - just to obtain. - Unobtainable achievement: Who Needs Them? - Unobtainable achievement: Hero - Unobtainable achievement: Legend - Unobtainable Achievement: Rock and Coil Hit BackNow, there’s still issues with Halo 4, Halo 5, and The Master Chief Collection achievements. I don’t know which ones to be exact but there are several threads on TrueAchievements to support. I luckily didn’t run into the same problems that other people did. Even being one of the lucky ones, I still feel screwed.
This just baffles me since 343 is owned by Microsoft / Xbox - the brand that takes pride (or used to take pride anyways) in their achievement platform.
I recently completed Halo 5 and am working on Spartan Strike (Windows Phone / Windows 8). Knowing that I’ll never be at 100% for the Halo series, this has really killed my enjoyment for hunting these achievements.
I’d love to get back to 100% before Halo Wars 2 comes out, but it seems I’ve put all my eggs in a basket that turned out to be a frying pan. This is your brain on Xbox Achievements.
Even after all the time I’ve spent collecting these pointless points and the time I’m going to invest trying to finish The Master Chief Collection and the two versions of Spartan Strike; the best my record will ever be is 15 out of 18 completed games.
TL;DR: I used to take pride in getting all the Halo Achievements. 343 doesn’t care. I’m upset about it.
I’m just gonna throw my exact thoughts out there, and it’s that man, you’re just not going to get all the achievements for every little iteration of Halo. As being someone that likes to get achievements as well (obviously not as meticulous as you, but still) I understand where you’re coming from, but you really are taking this to the nth degree.
And if I were 343, I wouldn’t bend over backwards, or even really try to cater to you as well, because the percent of the population of people like you is so miniscule that it’s not worth paying someone to look into it. Which yes, means they may not care, but it makes sense to not care.
Also, for your reference, if you’ve never seen it… The Official Waypoint Gamerscore Leaderboard.
I know I’m in the minority here. I’ve actually posted complaints about this before and I’ll keep trying to stir up traction every few months.
I agree it’s not a rush issue, and I know it’s probably not going to get fixed; I’m just hoping for it to be heard that there are people that care about this kind of thing. I mean, you even linked to a whole thread of people who care about their Halo Gamerscore. We are out there.
At the same time, it is their games. It’s something they promote on their website (every profile has the Halo Gamerscore right in the banner). It’s something that should be fixed.
I realized they didn’t care about us when they released a China exclusive achievement list. They put in work to release the game on a Chinese console and for iOS devices - even though sales would obviously minimum. There had to be something that sparked their interest in those small markets. There has to be something that would spark their interest to finish those releases.

A lot of people care about achievements, but they only care to an extent. To be honest, this is the first time I’ve even heard of there being a Chinese edition of the MCC, and with its own seperate achievements. And I’m a pretty huge Halo fan. I think you’re taking it a little bit too far, by declaring that 343 doesn’t care about people who hunt achievements because they make new ones for foreign countries. Might have something to do with the software, release, or programming. Who knows.
The achievements are lagged for me
I meant more that didn’t care about the completionists although they promote Halo Gamerscore (which includes variations).
