343, Please don't be wasting time and energy on a battle royale that nobody wants

I don’t really care if we get a BR, as long as it’s more unique to Halo than any other BRs out there. If we’re getting a BR which is just a copy and paste of every single generic BR, I’ll sleep on it, and this game, until I see something I want to play.

We need more bodies on MCC customs, come play thanks.

I’m not totally against a Halo BR but I feel like it should be a separate game. I just don’t think you can have a BR mode and all these other game modes like 4-4 and have weapons balanced for both. I can DEFINITELY see in the future people saying “x weapon is terrible” and others saying “it works great in BR” and here lies the problem…

Not to mention there are SO MANY issues with this game right now on a whole. I feel like 343I should be fixing all the other issues first and getting in key features like co-op, forge, better progression system, improving the ranking system and so on before bringing in new modes and such AND even before bringing in new modes, they should be bringing back modes that they know people love like FIREFIGHT for example and getting in key modes before any Halo BR. The fact there’s only 1 ranked play list is a complete joke! I barely play anymore because of this for example. I have many, many friends on my friends list who are also not playing because of this and I’m sure I’m not the only one. This isn’t good.

This game is seriously hurting right now… HARD! The evidence is all around you. If 343I/Microsoft think some kind of Halo BR mode in Halo infinite will save it then I think they have another thing coming. They need to get their priority straight here.

I don’t know… Again, I’m not totally against Halo BR mode but there’s just so many things that should be done before that comes in, It’s just not even funny.

I just want to explode when I read people advocate against Battle Royal like you wouldn’t have the option to opt out and not play like you do with Fortnite lol.

If you haven’t noticed, Battle Royal has millions of users ONLY to play Battle Royal and you’re really going to sit here and tell me the community is here when I got on steam the other day and only 2K players were online :skull_and_crossbones:. You’re straight up lying to yourself, ruining Halo for everyone else, and giving 343 an excuse to blame people like you later lol.

Market trends, future Halo Titles > Minority opinion

Facts.

Nothing will make me quit faster than a BR.

Exactly right.

They really need to sort out their server selection process and the De-Synch before they add any new modes.

While not personally interested in a Battle Royal for this game. I always laugh when people feel they have a right to speak for the entire community like everyone is on their side with this decision.

I’ve literally been saying this since launch. It’ll be a disaster unless the netcode is fixed.

You really believe Infinite not having a battle royale is what caused the decline in players to where there are 2,000 players on steam charts? Because you are way off on why infinite is having a player decline. The reason for it is:

  1. cheaters
  2. desync issues
  3. Crossplay
  4. bad spawn system on some maps especially behemoth
  5. the game being incomplete with a working store
  6. Networking issues
and many many more issues that are causing the player decline, not because “HaLo NeEdS a BaTtLe RoYaLe”.

If they release a battle royale with this messy netcode people will be leaving a lot faster due to the battle royale being unplayable also not every game needs a battle royale. Chasing the money is a terrible idea than fixing the game.

The problem is, they actually likely will succeed because BR players are always on the hunt for the next big BR and luckily for them 343 want to follow everyone and their mother rather than creating an original product that’s full of creative ideas, passion, love, the whole nine yards.

The game is in complete dissarray. The thought of a BR should be out the window until the game is technically capable of handling that.

The core game is in shambles right now.

If anything, 343 isn’t even the one responsible for developing and balancing the BR, CA is. If this creates content to keep Infinite running while 343 works out their internal issues, I can’t see any downside to this.

On a timeline where 343 is competent, we would probably have loads of content by now and a BR would be the last thing on anyone’s mind. Sadly this is NOT that timeline and I’ll take any content over no content at all.

Again I have to say: If Halo wants to add a BR, it had better be a really unique BR pioneered by Halo. Halo needs to be that pioneer and trendsetter once again, and not chasing trends set up by others.

I have no desire to a battle royal,
an at this point really fricking tired of the Genre,

It attracts people who are way WAY too sweaty and have little too much self-esteem in the wrong areas of life.

And lets be honest, its not going it attract the Fortnite Squeakers,
A game built FROM THE GROUND UP to be a battle royal.

I feel it,
its going to be a failed mode that they spend tons of money on.
Sweaty players are going to find a way to Meta the fun out of it within the first week, and everyone will get their fill of it and abandon it after a month.

You speak as if Halo isn’t already filled with sweaty tryhards. Every other BTB or Quickplay I get some Onyx rank tryhard fireteam on the enemy team. Every game has its fair share of sweaty tryhards and Halo is no exception. In fact, I’ll go ahead and say that Halo in the past few years have bred an even more sweaty and toxic ranked community, even more so than H3, and that’s alot to say considering H3 ranked players are already pretty toxic and tryhard back in the day.

A BR won’t cause sweats to suddenly burst in number, these sweats are already there, they will just be playing anything cos they wanna flex.

And also to put this into perspective since I see literally no one talking about it:
HALO FFA ALREADY PLAYS LIKE A BR. Just on a smaller scale. Everyone starts with same loadouts, everyone fights over the few power weapons or weapons on the arena, everyone kills each other and the winner comes out on top. A shrinking zone and whatnot is just fluff cos we’ve already been playing “BR” in Halo FFA for 20 years.

I’m counting on CA to make this a new experience, something other games can look at and go “hmm, this is a new take on BR, maybe we can try this too”

I recently made a BR mode and map on Halo Reach MCC, thanks to thorage I was able to cover all aspects of Forge World, AND even able to add some unique gimmicks to the game type, for example everyone has 3 lives instead of 1, I’m an old school Nintendo nut golden rule of 3, custom powerups are actually traps that give away your position for 30 seconds, and the weapons place on the map are entirely randomized meaning people can’t just camp for the same weapon over and over.

Truth is the mode is overrated and overused. As if whatever game adds the mode suddenly becomes awesome. It’s nothing but a sweaty mode and because the maps are always so big, you never really see all 100 players. They always feel like a massive empty map with a couple of players dotted about. That’s not fun and doesn’t feel like a warzone (pardon the pun)

i agree with the OP more.

that focus on a BR is now wasting a lot off time and money when there are still lot off problems there need to fix first.
there need to focus on more game playlist’s and more maps to play on for the matchmaking.
and then you have the cheaters problem.
and not forgot the crossplay problem there need to chance also.

and in general a BR is doing notting good at all for the halo serie’s more.
there most bring back the Halo 5 Warzone game playlist and Warzone firefight needs to return in a new style more.

This is perfectly worded. I personally hate battle royal all together. I am sickened to find out that the reason we haven’t gotten any content since launch is because they’ve been wasting time on a br mode!

I want battle royale.

I went back to playing games like warzone/apex/fortnite and the BTB maps in this game feel tiny and boring, no rewards for playing well, no objectives in game except the main objective, seriously Certain Affinity better drop the best damn game mode we’ve seen or this game is toast when MW2:2022 drops.

I love this argument that halo shouldn’t have a BR because halo shouldn’t follow trends, when it infact has followed trends in the past. Firefight was a literal response to the horde mode/zombies of the 360 era.

I can sit here and pick off things that I believe shouldn’t be in halo because they’re not “Halo enough”. Things like swat. No shield slayer gametype has no place in halo because… Well because I said so. How about that?

I think reading through the comments on here we can safely say that “nobody wants it” is plainly a wrong statement. And saying “but I speak for the majority” or “but I speak for the true fans” doesn’t change that.

343i is working on the engine (and that’s where the issues with Desync, etc. are). Partially outsourcing that work was most likely what made the engine end up in the state it is now, so I can’t quite see how having another team work on it in addition would solve any of the issues in a reasonable way.

Also it’s not as if CA was about to drop that mode tomorrow. Season 2 at least (and in all likelihood S3 and S4) will launch before that happens. By that time there will be more maps and modes in the game anyway (some launching with S2 at least).

As for BR in general - I’ll wait and see. If it’s fun, it’s fun. I’ll judge it when it arrives.
