343, Please Do Not Reveal a Single Detail about Campaign.

It seemed like, especially over the summer before Reach came out, that Bungie showed 70% of the Campaign before release. HUGE MISTAKE. Coupled with the fact that the Multiplayer maps were ripped from Campaign levels, and it really was an unexciting campaign.

I love details on Halo games before they release, but I don’t want a lick about the campaign revealed. Maybe I could shield my eyes, but I know it would increase the general public’s opinion of the campaign if it is well-protected to the end. Maybe the Ancient Enemy could come out, a couple screenshots, a trailer in the fall, but they should mostly reveal the features through Multiplayer. I don’t really want to be surprised by a replacement for the BR, or how the Equipment/Ability system works, or what playlists will be available, or how the ranking system will be. I like to know that before getting the game.

For the campaign to feel new and exciting, one of the key factors will be if it’s your first time seeing the world, just like Master Chief. I’ve felt that in all Halo games but Reach. I certainly hope 343 doesn’t use Campaign sections for Multiplayer- it seems like a restriction to both campaign and multiplayer. Maybe for the reveal on the 29th, they could show some Campaign, I’d watch that, but afterwards I don’t want it.

You guys agree?

I agree with this completley. Not showing the Campaign just adds to the mystery surrounding Halo 4’s story. I really hope they just show multiplayer.

Though 343i will probably release some stuff on the campaign, I don’t think it will be nearly as much as Reach was. I actually went dark right before the Battle Begins trailer for Reach; I don’t like watching all the videos and looks of the story before I play it. I’ll be going dark for Halo 4 when it gets close to Launch Date, too.

Me personally would love to see what’s been happening behind the scenes in development, stop acting like you speak for everyone.

I thought ODST was advertised very well, campaign wise. If they do advertise the campaign it needs to be like that.

Take it easy, BTS I wouldn’t mind, and if there are a few decipherable details in there for gameplay, maybe concept art, I would be fine, but it’s the trailers like The Battle Begins for Reach that revealed alot about the Campaign are what I don’t like.

Then don’t watch them. I on the other hand would watch them.

I don’t mind getting info, as long as all this wait is for something.

I just dont want people like Rooster Teeth doing playthroughs and what not. I have nothing against them Im just saying. It would be nice to find literally everything out the day the game is released but i know thats not going to happen.

I know i dont HAVE to watch the videos but still i might end up watching them and ruining it for myself.

You make me cookies, i will most likely eat them.

So the rest of us should be stopped from watching just because you can’t control yourself? Terrible excuse.

The thing about Reach is that we kinda knew the ending. Wasn’t that the tagline of the marketing campaign? “From the beginning, you know the end.”

I’m sure that 343i won’t reveal too much. Remember how Halo 3 went? Everybody believed that the Portal was the Ark.
I hope that 343i just reveals less than half of certain events.

I was about to post a thread like this one… Guess you were faster my friend. I agree!

I’d like some teaser trailers pertaining to the campaign… but I’d prefer OP’s idea of nothing at all over how Bungie handled Reach. Especially seeing the (applaudable) direction 343 seem to be taking with Halo 4’s campaign.

Show us the Chief.

Show us some beginning environments.

Show us some new weapons.

Show us what we already know is going to be there.

But do not…Do NOT show us the new enemy. Do not show us any of the surprises.

…Please?

I have to disagree with you. I think we should at least get some info on what we’re getting into. I’d like to know something about whats going on. Are we fighting the forunners? Are we fighting the remainder of the covenant to find out more about the forunners? Or are we fighting with the forunners (for now) to repair the galaxy?

BTW, Reach maps weren’t ripped from campaign. They were made and incorperated into the campaign.

Does anyone remember the end of the concept art trailer? That trailer was released back in August of last year, and it seems that the ending was definitely having to do with a new enemy we will be fighting.

And that was only concept art. Of last year.

All I’m saying is that you probably shouldn’t get your hopes up.

Even with the concept art trailer, and the new information based off of the books, we still have no general idea of what the hell is going on. I like the mystery, but I would like to see at least what the 2nd level is like. Maybe who the co-op characters are.

I’d prefer 343 follow Bungie’s path in dealing with campaign detail. If you don’t want to spoil thing, just go dark.

I’d prefer a really vague campaign trailer rather than no trailer

You know, I would actually like to know what I might be spending my money on before I might buy it. They have to shows us some of the weapons, the vehicles and the enemies. I’m all for surprises folks, but we need to have a basic idea of what to expect.
