A lot of streams from COD and BR’s have been sharing their opinion on a Halo battle royale. But if you watch Act Man’s video you can clearly see that a BR would just piss people off in the core Halo community. We want Halo to be back, not for 343 to do another 180 and spit out a BR. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcPB30uEGQA&t=952s
We love the direction Halo is taking, not the direction these desperate streamers want.
I don’t think a BR would be bad for halo at all. If anything it would add tons of new eyes and players to halo. I’ve been playing since CE and I’m a diehard halo fan that loves this franchise.
if there’s a BR it just gives more options to the game but doesn’t take away from what’s already there. I think halo’s sandbox would make for a perfect BR imo.
I just don’t understand how adding a new game mode would ruin the game in any way.

A properly made BR mode would require quite a lot of resources, something which takes away from other aspects of the game where they could be used instead.
Spend less resources and the mode is less attractive due to not getting the support it needs to be really good, and then you have an entirely different problem on your hands with how its perceived.
You need look no further than Warzone in Halo 5 and how Arena was at launch.
Warzone wasn’t like Slayer, CTF or KotH in how it was “just a game mode”, I’d say the exact same applies to BR.
If i343 were to add a BR to Halo, how many of those who jump into it for the BR only, would stay for the rest of the game? And how many would then jump back to whatever they played before, or to the next BR? Would the investment into a BR be worth it? Now, who would only play Halo BR? And what benefit would that be to the rest of the game?
People are afraid of a BR in Halo for plenty of reasons:
-It’d take away resources they feel would be better spent elsewhere to get some limelight on Halo
-They dislike BRs and feel like they’re getting shoved to the side with the implementation of a BR.
-Plenty feel like a BR wouldn’t add to Halo.
-Belief that i343 would be seen as chasing more trends, and that could have a negative impact on Halo.
-Those who want i343 to try and make the next new big thing to replace BRs.

To add to the other response, the entire game would need to be rebalanced specifically for BR.
I honestly think BR is overrated, not a fan of the mode and did not enjoy warzone and felt no reason to keep playing it after trying it out. I always think fortnite needs to go away and die already.
I mean there is nothing stopping people from creating their own Battle Royale with in Halo custom games and if it receives a good amount of notoriety between Halo players/ streamers I think 343 would consider adding to the main online matchmaking besides i think 343 are good for bowing out on this rather than copying the trend let the community re-make the wheel on what they like about battle Royale and how well it would work with Infinites play style/maps.
I think a battle royale in Halo could be a lot of fun if done well. I think 343 is doing the right thing by not trying to force a BR into the game for launch and instead focusing on what makes Halo great and putting out a great Arena and BTB offering first. I don’t agree with all the streamers that say that Halo will instantly die in like 2 months if they don’t have a BR. Sure the population may drop over time but if they release a BR later down the road and it turns out to be excellent then people will come back to play it. Take Fortnite for instance. It launched with just Save the World and only had a small dedicated audience. But once they added Battle Royale it became the biggest game of the past few years. Nowadays no game is ever really dead unless the developer chooses to no longer support the game.
In terms of how a battle royale could be implemented into Halo Infinite’s sandbox and gameplay, that’s definitely a tricky thing to manage. On the one hand you could go the easy route and play it like most other battle royales and say you drop in as basically an unshielded, unarmored spartan or ODST and you have to look around the map for shield cells or armor pieces or the like. Of course weapon scavenging is also a thing but do you start people with let’s say a Sidekick or an AR? And if we do have different rarities of guns in a BR then how do you do that without completely changing how certain guns work? For example how would we differentiate between a common Battle Rifle and a Legendary Battle Rifle. I guess you could use the old REQ guns from Halo 5 as a basis to go off of. Snipers by default would be pretty much overpowered off the bat because they rightfully should be one shot headshots. I feel like a BR would just overcomplicate how the economy and style of Halo Infinite would play and would definitely require a lot of resources for 343 to pull off. Because of this I doubt we’ll see a battle royale for Infinite for another year or two at least. I’d much prefer if we got Firefight mode first before a BR to be quite honest.
If they want to give us a BR, then do so way down the line. I just want them to focus on the multiplayer, forge, cosmetics, and pro scene for the foreseeable future. If the flight previews are anything to go by, that should be all we need for a good long while .
It could work if everyone played as ODSTs. No shields, minimap, or 17 Armour plates and this could work. And of course limit sprint. Instead of a storm they have a cloud of flood spores closing in or maybe glassing beams but then they would have to render multiple Covenant cruisers above the map ceiling but i feel like they could make it work.
No Battle Royale for Halo!!
Please, please, please, NO BATTLE ROYALE FOR HALO!!
Halo needs to be Halo at its core, not Destiny or Fortnite, or anything else, it needs to be Halo.
Oh, they can update the Battle Rifle skin though.
I actually think it would be better to add some form of a Tournament mode where you compete in a bracket, which can even be taken further and be used for online or LAN tournaments. And it would work easier rather than trying to figure out how you put 99 players on a Halo map at the same time and create an environment where you aren’t constantly getting double-teamed, as well as how to move to next game after you die. A tournament mode would provide that competitive feeling that big streamers like DrDisrespect and TimTheTatman are looking for.
I really wish there was a sticky topic for you guys who like to punch air and complain about BR. There are 20 of these topics per day.

Was gonna say pretty much the same thing :-/
i’m gonna stop reading these br threads now, it’s just pointless, end of the day who cares what cod streamers say? I don’t, Infinite ain’t gonna fail without it, & we got forge & brb. People have the freedom to create whatever mode they want
no one should care what streamers / influncers say as most of what they say is pure 100% cringe. save your brain cells.

Disagree strongly. Just because it gains a ‘new’ audience does not mean the overall quality of the game will be better for it. All this could lead to is abandonment of core Halo fans and abandonment of features and original content. Same thing happened to the original ‘Fornite’ and now it’s just catered to the BR crowd while ‘Save the world’ fans were abandoned so no Halo should not be forced to have it shoved in just to cater to a different type of audience. Also as 343i have said numerous times if people are that desperate to have the mode then they should make it in Forge.
I’m also more or less against a BR mode. Waste of time, money, and will de-focus the game and split the User base too much.
That being said, I really am not feeling BR’s right now. They’re really really stressful. I don’t have many people if any at all to play any games with as it is already, and a BR (If it has teams) would take away from my desire to casually play a game I can at least enjoy solo because it isn’t as stressful/punishing. The Enjoyable game loop in a BR is WINNING. The Enjoyable Game loop in Halo is SHOOTING, with the added BONUS of Winning. Thus, BR’s become stressful. Losing can be anyone’s fault but it isn’t enjoyable if you don’t survive the first 1-2 minutes, or get properly geared up, or know exactly where to go and when, or have the right ability/skills to counter the incoming nonsense. Seeing another player isn’t going to necessarily be a test of skill and decision making, but a dice roll on getting booted back to lobby. At least if you round the corner and find a rocket in your forehead, you respawn and can try a new tactic 5 seconds later.
Halo deserves renewed success in the modern landscape of gaming, and the Halo community is doing a pretty good job supporting this game. But I don’t think BR’s is where Halo should go, at least not this fresh into the games life cycle.
We already have active topics about Battle Royale, feel free to use those existing ones to continue discussion. There are currently no BR games or modes in development
