343, PLEASE bring back the greatness to Halo!!!

343, since you guys are going to make the next Halo, I thought I would post this, in hope that you will bring what was amazing to Halo

List of reason’s why H3 was terribad

  • Worst maps in the series besides H:R

-BR spread, cant even get a legit 4sk across Midship. Now thats sad

  • 2 hits for melee, I don’t know who made this idea, but it was extremely limited

  • BR spread still happens in LAN

  • Bloodshots still happen in LAN

  • Extremly slow gameplay since you cant shoot a BR past 5 meters

  • Grenades were paper rocks

-Kill times are extremely slow.

Reasons why Reach is terribad

  • Worst map in the series (I have to admit though, the map packs are really good compared to H3’s first 2 map packs)

  • No bleedthrough, it makes CQC extremely unimportant, and makes awkward situations when you are in CQC

  • DMR’s bloom is inconsistent. Just like H3’s BR spread

  • Grenades are as strong as H:CE’s grenades yet they have no fuse time. Yet you walk slower in H:R then you do in Reach, wheres the logic in that?

-Slow gameplay since you can run away with the press of a button

-Kil times are extremely slow

Why H2 and H:CE are better then better then H3 and Reach.

  • CQC was important

  • Mid range guns actually can shoot far (unlike H3’s BR)

  • Maps in both games were balanced

  • Much bigger skill gap then H3 and Reach combined

(Aiming in H2 might have been easy, but button glitches take much more skill then anything H3 or Reach has to offer. Also H2’s BR was not random at all, which makes it more skillful automatically since H3 and Reach’s mid range guns are)

  • Aiming took skill

  • Kill times were much faster

  • Faster movement in general

There is probably more I’m missing, but you get the general idea.

343, return to what made Halo.

Yes! I agree with so much of this.

Was one of my lengthy posts mirroring what I have been saying on the MP forums here, I have a strong faith that 343i will see the vast amount of people complaining/that have stopped playing Reach and fix the Halo series.

They’ve got a lot of people invested to the longevity of the franchise and this helps because that’s what kind of players we are. I’ve been playing since Launch of CE and I find it ridiculous the direction Halo has gone since after 2. I mean 3 wasn’t terrible but for the reasons you listed it wasnt that great either. This is all from a multiplayer standpoint, the campaigns in all 4 main Halo games were really well done. But I think bungie catered to the people who buy the game and play it only for like a month when they made Reach, they didn’t worry about the long-term when it came to this game, which is exactly what they did for H:CE and H2, even H3 despite it’s problems.

Reach’s biggest issue: The randomness, I’m playing Halo here, not the Slots.

Can we get a stickied topic for suggestions or something? There are so many of these topics…

I’m not going to post my opinion because it would basically be a waste of time for me right now, but please don’t act like one opinion is better than everyone else. Apparently Halo Reach did something right because it is still selling more than Halo 3. I said it had to be doing something right because it didn’t get much advertisement and still did better. (CoD sells more every year than the year before because of all the advertising for it.) And please don’t say, “The population is lower.” The population is lower because Halo 3 was the #1 game during most of its life because Halo was the “big” franchise. Plus, CoD has taken the population from most games too.

^ Well some of those things I said are facts. Such as bloom being random, and BR spread being random. Which I’m pretty sure casuals or competitive players will like.

Also casuals and competitive players love fast kill times.

Basically many competitive players who have been playing competitively since H:CE, agree that it took the most skill. One of those reasons being fast kill times

And for casuals, well CoD speaks for its self…

Why are you even comparing Halo 3 and Reach? They’re both bad Halo games as the OP outlined. Also, the amount of sales a game gets in the first few months doesn’t mean much compared to its long-lasting sales. Lastly, if Halo 3 and Reach had been good Halo games, Call of Duty would not be the #1 game on Xbox Live. Believe it or not there were plenty of good multiplayer games available from 2004-2007 but Halo 2 was still able to be the best. Halo 3 and Reach were not nearly as good.

I heard that Microsoft will anounce this week on their press conference some new things that will interrest us. I think they will announce the remake for Halo: ce.

Just looked into this

I agree with the post but I dont think H3 as bad maps…

These are all opinions, not facts. No matter how you think of them, they are still opinions, nothing more.
> Please don’t act like your opinion is fact and is better than anyone else’s.

Most of which you described are what make the games different from each other. I don’t know what game you are playing, nut the Halo 3 BR was a “Jack of all Trades” in any range, one thing that Reach fixed.

> I personally love the longer kill times. It makes the games long and more eventful. The longer you’re having a gunfight with someone, the more opportunities you can turn the tide on them.

As much as a dislike a lot of the core gameplay changes, I’m not really against them. They do add a different bit of fun and challenge. I do however think that custom game options should have the ability to turn bloom on or off. If doesn’t hurt anyone at all and would make so many more people happy, because they can choose to play the game the way they want to play it.

The only thing I think they really did wrong with Reach, was the lack of custom game options (even though there are still plenty), and the lack of a 1-50 ranking system. Again this is only my opinion. I feel like without the number rank, the game doesn’t give me much motivation to win, rather than be selfish to gain as many commendations as possible.

I have great faith in 343. Let’s see what they can do!

Actually I’m looking at the XBL charts and every Halo game has been slower then the last (if were talking MLG, then H3 is slower then Reach, but usual gameplay is slower then H3) and the activity has been smaller after each game.

In H2 its been alive until H3 was out

In H3 it had 200,000 people after 2 CoD games, and after 3 years.

In Reach it didn’t even last one CoD game until it died out. There is about 100,000 people at a given time after school.

See the difference? The majority of players (casual players) like fast paced games, and every Halo game has been slower then the last. Now the population is lower then any other Halo game.

Lolwut. H3 and Reach had a mid range gun that was a jack of all trades. Hell test it for yourself, in CQC (four forge units away) I still get random shots to the head.

Having slower kill times are worse for casual and competitive players. It makes the enemy able to forgive there mistakes in a battle, and casual love the faster paced sort of game, which H2 and HCE offered. At least for a Halo game

Also I did state facts.

The DMR and the BR are random

The BR has random amounts of shots to the head as close as shooting across Midship

Bloodshots DID happen in LAN

The BR spread was STILL in LAN

CQC was more important in H2 and HCE

Meleeing in Reach is not balanced. Think of this. Player A shoots enemy 3 times with the DMR, and player B is sprinting at the enemy. They both melee each other at the same time, exactly how is that fair?

I have to agree that the maps thing I said was an opinion, but people do agree with what I said it being the worst maps in the Halo series

Though part of it was a fact, in some maps, you do have more of an advantage on being on team. Such as Powerhouse, Red team spawns and is right by Rocket Launcher and GL. All blue team gets is a Focus Rifle. There are many maps that are like this

I hope you guys know that 343 is aware and they beg of us to know that they are listening.

Of course i am a supporter so yes they will make a title update and so lets not complain about the same stuff over and over shall we

ur not the forum moderator and this post is abiding by rules so please stop flaming him

yeah dude, if you say my post complainers complain no more, it talks about a guy who begs the community to wait, and know there listening.

What for me is more important is that movement speed is SO slow. It might not anoy you like AL does, but it takes the fun and intensity out of the game. Low jump hight too.
