So people can hide in it with a Shotgun? Or for whole teams to camp it?
No thank you.
Dropshield in FFA?
The very thought makes me want to throw a controller.
NO.
serious?? its better than armor lock. at least you can get in there and kill the person
It is a shame that cool game features are stripped away because other players find them hard to deal with.

Just in case you missed it.
While you can kill a player in a Drop Shield, you can also block off massive areas with it, and still fill someone’s visor full of buckshot if they try to come in. In some ways, it is worse than Armor Lock, especially post-TU.

lolno
Oh god. No.

I find it a shame that people think that features that allow players to give themselves a second chance to live despite making bad decisions should be in FPS games.
Absolutely not! The only places drop shield is acceptable is campaign and firefight. Otherwise you have given people a portable healthpack that covers a massive area.

So should we only spawn once in a matchmaking game or do you think multiple spawns should be allowed?
Threads like these make me scared for the future of Halo
I think replacing Armor lock with Drop Shield in TS could be a sort of good compromise.
I think armor lock should be BTB or vehicle playlists/maps only.
DS is fun, can encourage team work, but I agree about people camping inside with Sword/shotgun could be horrible
The shield is quite easy to take down with plasma weapons/grenades, though.

Your points always astound me Plunderfull. Adding in drop shield is not conducive to having the game move at any pace faster than a turtle can walk. IF everyone can start with a drop shield the game will likely never go anywhere and would be boring for everyone. It would become like the Jetpack is in Arena now; since one person uses it everyone has to use it.
Adding drop shield in would only serve to set up frequent and consistent stalemates within a given game. From a distance someone could camp in it with a distance weapon whereas close range someone can camp in it with a shotgun. In both cases the only other AA ability that will be useful enough to help you against it is a Drop Shield for yourself or Armour Lock.
The game is slow enough. Get over yourself this not about ruining Reach’s core mechanics it’s about sensibility. Everyone knows how and why it’s broken so there’s no reason to discuss this thread any further.
The only instance where I would agree with you that it should be in Matchmaking is if it was a pickup and it had a one-time use like the Bubble Shield in Halo 3. Otherwise your wasting your breath preaching useless garbage about what you ‘think’ constitutes skill. Upholding a mechanic just because it’s in Reach doesn’t make it any less unfair. Take for instance the Flame Grenades and the Sentinel Beam in Halo 3. There was a reason they were never implemented across the board in Matchmaking.
Flame Grenades: Lagged the game
Sentinel Beam: Way too good of a weapon. Amazing at reducing shields and killing you while you had no shields regardless of where you aimed.

drop shield, IMO is the most unbalanced AA of them all, the problem with it is that it is re-usable, you can use it to block off doorways from attacks, spam it with an entire team to create your own point to control without the need of map control and so on.
drop shield is one of those AA’s that should be pick-up only.
