What i have noticed in halo 5 is a change in the promethian weapons. Now most of uou will say its trivial game mechanics, but i believe they have planed for the flood all along. With the surpressor now with seeking rounds and the sniper rifle a pure beam, eeapons that are pretty efficiant at killing flood, now this probobly doesant explain changes to the bolt shot ( i rather liked the little shot gun design) but it does help half way explain the changes. Well what do you think, am i right or am i wrong.
I think its the opposite. Promethean Weapons in Halo 4 were designed specifically for fighting the flood, while in 5 the Prometheans changed tactics and adapted their weapons for human targets. If anything the tracking rounds (suppressor, boltshot) are for strafing targets. Flood don’t strafe, they charge at you. Of course the weapons are still good for the flood. But I think the Created are doing just making modifying their weapons for all organic targets.
Still its a thing to think about
Yep
Weapons like the scattershot never changed after all.
I’m gonna go with no. For instance, with the Suppressor, a smaller magazine and lower rate of fire doesn’t seem like it would help much against the Flood, even if it did get tracking rounds. The Binary Rifle also doesn’t make terribly much sense for anti-Flood warfare. The Halo 4 iteration was a single shot that instantly obliterated a target. Halo 5… not so much.
I think the changes were for game balance. For Halo 4’s versions of the Promethean weapons, I’d readily leave them lying on the ground in favor of human or Covenant equivalents if I had enough ammo to keep going. All of Halo 5’s weapons in the Campaign are well balanced, so as long as I have ammo for whatever I ended up with, I feel ready for whatever is coming up.
These changes are more an gameplay decision that needed an lore-backup.
Homing bullets are not necessary if you fight an horde of Flood charging at you.

I too think gameplay is reason for changes.
But homing bullets would work better against Flood Infection forms.
I think both versions of each weapon might be effective against the flood, plus halo 5 clearly focused more on gameplay so I’m sticking with they wanted a variety of guns with different functions
Then again we know almost nothing about how effective the weapons actually were, the h4 designs were probaly better at killing the average size pure forms eile the oncineration cannon was probaly good at lilling the larger pure forms but agian no solid info
343 didnt plan to reimplement the Flood. There reacting to backlash from the community about their terrible games. However you slice it, promethean weapons are just reskinned weapons that already existed in Halos sandbox. Just like all the borrowed mechanics! Nothing revolutionary there.
